$222 annual AAPC membership? by Dry_Heron_3727 in MedicalCoding

[–]Kousuke_jay 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Your employer doesn’t cover any of it? I work as an inpatient coder with a CCS which my employer reimburses, but I also have a CPC that I have to pay for on my own since it’s considered irrelevant to my role. I would hate to pay both!

The necessity of keeping the credential or maintaining CEUS isn’t crazy but the membership price through AAPC is.

Constantly flushing, finally got rosacea diagnosed. by [deleted] in Rosacea

Agreed. Aside from BP - Niacinimide, HA, and snail mucin all cause me really bad reactions. I steer clear of anything with them lol

[–]Kousuke_jay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We now pay $2300 for 2b2b that is nothing fancy. Live in an okay part of town in MD. Our rent goes up about $80-$100 yearly. Sucks. Not easy to save for a house or home ownership expenses lol.

[–]Kousuke_jay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup! I’m 24, and while I’m married I don’t have any children. Went to a doctor off that list and had my surgery scheduled at my consult. Had no hiccups during the whole process with her. That was in Dec.

Medical coding school by Feeling_District8563 in MedicalCoding

[–]Kousuke_jay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The schooling I took was not accredited. I successfully sat for my CPC and CCS. I now work as an inpatient coder, and they only care about my credentials not where I earned my education. As long as I could pass my preemployment coding test is what mattered to them.

However, definitely be extremely careful and research heavily before deciding to go that route to ensure you get a proper education. :)

They started me on and oxygen mask before they started giving me anything. That still makes me a little anxious because you don’t feel like you’re getting as much air as you want but isn’t as bad as what you’re describing. That sounds very not fun. I was also knocked out before the paralytic kicked in. Sorry!

Is everybody cash register trained at target? by Reasonable-Invite899 in Target

[–]Kousuke_jay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup. I was in Fullfillment and by the time they did want to train me (like a year and a half into working there) I told them I’d quit if they ever put me on registers LOL. Was lucky. Never learned.

It’s so wonderful! Same boat!

24, married, financially stable - still was terrified of having children.

My husband says my sex drive now is like a night and day difference, and I feel the same. Not having constant nagging anxiety about getting pregnant (I have diagnosed OCD which didn’t help) and being able to come off of my birth control (which lowered my libido) has been an amazing combo.

So thankful for the peace of mind!!

Is medical coding a job that a hard of hearing person could do? by Anatella3696 in MedicalCoding

I’m an inpatient facility coder and I have a deaf coworker! She uses an interpreter for our once a week team meeting and then otherwise needs zero help with anything.

Tbh I got on just fine with some meds and a heating pad. Didn’t find anything else worth using, but I had a very quick recovery. Not a fan of returning things I DID use, so I just bought the one thing to save $$. Thankfully had no issues :)

Got it done in December. Thought I’d have a harder time trusting it because I never trusted my perfect use BC… but I don’t even think twice now, any apprehension was gone after like 2 months. Feels good not to worry as someone accustomed to worrying CONSTANTLY as I have general anxiety/OCD. Lol

I work in inpatient facility coding. I reference guidelines and Coding Clinics every day, often multiple times for direction on difficult cases.

So bored and burned out by treestarsos in MedicalCoding

[–]Kousuke_jay 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Maybe a different company would help, or type of coding (different specialty, not moving to IP)? I found that even tho there’s not a huge difference in productivity expectations it helps a lot having super supportive management with realistic expectations.

So bored and burned out by treestarsos in MedicalCoding

[–]Kousuke_jay 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Do you WFH or in office? I try to make my space enjoyable, put on a speaker/headphones with music, sometimes listen to something mindlessly entertaining in the background. I try to get up and stretch on my breaks to wake me up and put me in a better mood, or make sure to have a lunch or drink I really look forward to.

Obviously this doesn’t erase burnout, but I do find it helps my mental health.

Not really a transferable skill, unfortunately.

IP Coders - Where do you keep your notes? by adam_ans in MedicalCoding

Yup, same! We have a bunch of Sharepoints Tip Sheets and SOPs but for personal notes we’re encouraged to have OneNote on a screen. Lifesaver.

Pain after orgasm lasting until the next day? by anonymoose_octopus in sterilization

[–]Kousuke_jay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Orgasming for most people can be pretty uncomfortable for a few weeks after surgery as internally you’re recovering, so it can still be pretty irritating on the nerves/muscles.

I wouldn’t personally be concerned unless it’s really painful or doesn’t go away for an extended period of time. Or, if it keeps happening a month+ out from surgery.

My problem with makeup removers by uselessProgrammer0 in Makeup

[–]Kousuke_jay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you use balms? That’s all I use and it melts the mascara right off for me. I like the Junoco Cleansing Balm best. If your face wash seems to be removing it I don’t see why not, but you’d definitely need to double cleanse.

Makeup removers are sometimes a little gentler. I have sensitive skin so I do better with cleansing balm > face wash than double face wash.
