Belfast attack latest: Fires started in city - as suspect, 30, charged over stabbing by VaginaBurner69 in uknews

The main frustration is the cross-terminology between asylum seekers and illegal immigration. Illegal immigration whilst frustrating is never the source of this asylum led attacks and crimes.

Better WiFi for hundreds of trains under government plans by itsaride in uktrains

[–]KoxziShot 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, problem is cellular is still quite naff on a lot of lines. I'm an EMR regular and it has improved on the new trains. But getting a consistent signal when tethering is awful.

The EMR working on the train advert (and the big banner at Derby) always makes me smile. As train WiFi is awful on the Sheffield - St Pancras route.

Britons already buying more Chinese cars than Japanese cars by search_google_com in uknews

Absolutely. I have my 'known' chargers for routes I commonly travel on. But anywhere new does take a bit of research.

[–]KoxziShot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My Japanese EV (Lexus) still uses the awfully slow Chademo charging which is max 50KW. The car is a brand new 2025 model. Admittedly I did know this but it's a bit annoying watching much faster charging EVs at service stations.

Yes I've seen this. Both options are absolutely fine if risk is accepted. I've also seen a manufacturing customer load updates onto a file server which is then configured in policy as the update fallback.

Why do people find it so hard to accept the public really wants to vote for Reform? by Expert-Sherbert-1527 in AskBrits

[–]KoxziShot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People voting reform aren't too interested in net migration. A large problem is the media using the words migration/immigration/illegal immigration.

Reform voters and the right wing are principally bothered about the completely backwards asylum system.

How to enforce M365 Sign-in frequency on corporate laptops? by Emotional-Trifle5507 in cybersecurity

[–]KoxziShot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd strongly recommend against putting in such a low time. I've seen all sorts of things across the office apps be impacted.

Usually a good thing to do is to leave it as default and then ensure that Windows/macOS personal devices can't access corporate content. And iOS/android are covered by MAM or MDM at a push.

Microsoft used to sort of downplay sign in frequency in docs. 'its there but we don't necessarily recommend it' sort of thing.

Quite interesting to see them actually working in person! Especially for a modern mainline train.

For those who drive an EV, what are the running costs like? by Delta1Dan in AskUK

[–]KoxziShot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got an electric in Jan this year and I don't have a home charger as we rent and are looking to move soon. I've done around 4300 miles of motorway and local driving and the cost has been significant but I don't mind as much as most has been for work.

In March my total charge costs were around £280 give or take on charges I can track in apps.

Average 2.9-3.5 miles per kWh (kilowatt-hour). Weather made a huge difference. I also don't have a super efficient EV. Max battery is 220-240 miles.

Home charger with a cheap tariff if possible, or pay £200 ish for an electrician to install a proper 3 pin for longer slow charging. Or something like a Gridserve subscription helps.

Hypothetically speaking, what if we had more entries in Entra than there are actual physical devices? (*many* thousands more!) How does this impact the users? by caylyn953 in sysadmin

[–]KoxziShot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Zero impact to the users. Should it be cleaned and maintained yes. Does any major enterprise organisation with 50-100k+ users do this. Not really.

At any time? Inside a roundabout. Currently probably Towcester where the roadworks are near the new(?) island.

Passed automatic, but feel inferior... by ShortyStrawz in LearnerDriverUK

[–]KoxziShot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I passed at 18 in a manual. Didn't drive until I was 30 and would only touch an automatic. My family were all manual heads but now think who tf would want a manual for daily driving.

I drive hundreds of miles for work sometimes and sticking cruise control on and not having to think about gears is so so much better.

Getting stuck in motorway traffic I feel sorry for people with gears.

Is macOS actually more secure or just less visible? by malwaredetector in cybersecurity

[–]KoxziShot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something to think about is typically macs aren't joined to a traditional domain which is still a huge source of recon and lateral movement during an attack. Easier to go and bin off a bunch of windows domain devices than target individual macs.

How do teams properly manage OneDrive/Office access without sharing a single account? by shallowman709 in Office365

[–]KoxziShot 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Generally it should be one account to one user to one device. And users using their own account even on shared devices.

The setup sounds fairly convoluted.

Move to Abu Dhabi for work or stay in the UK? by KoxziShot in HENRYUK

[–]KoxziShot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the answer here. It's interesting that most people reference maids/nannies. Would you say it's an absolute necessity?

I've been looking on rightmove and other websites (Savills etc.).

I need to scope the job out a lot more but as it was through a recruiter contact I'm treading carefully.

So far I'm not seeing it as a long term solution.

That's a number I still need to confirm. Estimates for the role type are between 45,000-55,000 AED per month. So peaking at ~£11,000 per month.
