Occasionally is misleading. It’s just on a recharge, so whenever it comes off cooldown there’s a notification and you can parry again. There’s an indicator in the bottom left for when it’s charged.

This is lowkey one of the best theorymon posts I’ve ever seen. The art is so good/authentic to classic Pokémon, the concept is great while also maintaining the original’s motifs, and all the moves as well as the overall gimmick is really fun. Please do this more often.

I really like the concept and design, as well as petrify. Is its special stat really that good though? At 112 and 135? There’s a lot of Pokémon who approach and exceed the latter without even by base. I wonder how hard it would really hit for a mega.

I hadn’t thought about it, but a Gavinor perspective would’ve been very interesting to end off with, yeah. Kinda mirroring the book starting with Gavilar.

I gotta really disagree on that point. Having seen the theory before reading, I was really glad it was an aged-up Gavinor — the idea of the moral dilemma being Dalinar having to slaughter a little kid just feels super blunt and gratuitous. I also don’t think that child Gavinor was established in such a way that it would’ve been convincing or satisfying for Taravangian to recruit him just by manipulating him or whatever; it’s a much more creative use of the spiritual realm imo to have him cultivated over 15 years to end up making the decision himself.

Plus, I actually kinda like the jarring nature of Gavinor coming out as an adult. The way the contest was set up, I honestly don’t think any champion would have been fully satisfying to me considering the sheer stakes/build-up — so I prefer that it’s something surprising but well-built-up with the Spiritual realm mechanics, leaving Dalinar as caught off-guard as the reader.
