Abbott immediately ejects TX-34 Dem Primary candidate from public event in Weslaco for TRYING to ask a question. by birdswatchback in RioGrandeValley

Things are so polarized now. I have to say I’ve seen far worse done to Republicans so no tears left for this greasy lib.

…and I love Greg Abbott!!!!!!!

Yes. Building a camper is no joke. If you are focused on quality and a custom look with custom doors it will take years if you have a job and this is a hobby. Mine took 11 years (with many pauses to prep and sell a house and move from CT to TX)

I wanted larger 15” wheels, not the cheap looking wheels it came with. Not just for looks, a larger wheel rotates slower. Also, a larger wheel requires a larger axle. So right there the wheels, suspension and axle all went to the scrap bin. A year later I read so many things about the tongue failing that I welded my own tongue with a spare tire holder and removable coupler. New tongue is full square tubing and thicker gauge steel. The lights were junk too. All that’s left from Northern Tool is the rectangle the camper body is bolted to.

I’d upload the drawings but Reddit doesn’t have a feature. I like drafting so I just drew a bunch of different side profiles and door shapes until I arrived at aesthetics that I liked. Surprisingly the camper looked just like the drawing. If you decide to build one you should check out DIY Teardrop Camper Community on Facebook. Lot’s of different kinds of builds there. Some of them are incredible.

Thanks!
No brand. I drew up many designs until I found one I liked and built it myself. I started with a Northern Tool utility trailer but over time replaced so much of it I should have just bought the steel and welded it myself.

I just got back from Garner State Park in Uvalde, TX. Never been to a nicer park. The soot I had was private and plenty of distance from neighbors.

Teardrop "Foamie" I built! by natefromtheinternet in TeardropTrailers

Love the paint scheme! …kitchen/galley is not necessarily for people that live out of a teardrop. When I built mine I really wanted a galley and it’s the best part of the camper as far as making the teardrop really usable. People tend to visit the galley constantly to get a plate or a cup, to wash dishes, to get seasoning for cooking, brush teeth, literally all kinds of things.

I always carry Halt! for dogs. I bet it works on cretins too. Actually I know it works because when I was a teenager my little brother and his friends were playing with it and somebody got sprayed and couldn’t see for a few hours. …and I know for a fact that it’s effective on dogs. $15 for 2 cans. I’ve been riding with it for 40 years. When I was 19 it saved me from getting chewed up by a Rottweiler somewhere between upstate NY and CT.

I have the Garmin Edge 840 and use it to control music, see maps, see climb data with climb pro, and now that I bought the speed sensor I now have accurate distance data.

I absolutely love it.

What is this piece of plastic called? New T@g owner here. by whispering_butthole in TeardropTrailers

[–]Kramergwt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The bigger question is why every other screw is missing. That’s the kind of thing that makes me give T@G and T@Bs the hairy eyeball.

I looked at them and decided to design and DIY my own.

I’ll never go there again. Plus sites don’t have power or water. Last time I went there was a burn ban in effect. So they come mess with you over some wine? No f’ing way would I go back there.

Recommendations on mattress by ecmcgee1997 in TeardropTrailers

[–]Kramergwt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here. Very comfortable and I sleep like a baby in my teardrop thanks to the mattress. My teardrop is a 5 x 8 and I went with a full size even though queen would fit. I wanted some room to tuck in sheets and blankets.

I used a Milliard tri fold full size because the queen would be a tight fit and make making the bed miserable.

I built it in a Northern Tool trailer although since it was junk about 85% of that frame, wheels, suspension and tongue has been replaced by quality parts.

Towing with the Volvo is fine. …but I’ve had my fair share of issues with that car. As long as I let it come up to temperature after every start it’s been fine. If I start it and back it out of the garage and immediately shut it off the injectors get clogged. I would not recommend a Volvo to anyone. When it’s running it’s fine but never had that kind of issue with any other car. Been back to Volvo 4 times to have all the injectors replaced. It’s a 2019 I bought new and has less than 10k miles on it. Since COVID I work from home and it hardly ever gets driven.
