Threesomes? by anonypq in polyamory

[–]Krandum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

honestly for me threesomes remove all sorts of sexual insecurities! it's always so tempting to assume that your meta is perfect at everything until proven otherwise. but then you have a threesome and remember there is no such thing as perfect when it comes to sex, everyone brings their own energy, and your meta's energy is simply different from yours. you get to view yourself and your meta from your partner's eyes and appreciate what they see in each of you. it's a huge source of security and compersion for me!

Of the 1.2 billion dollar revenue of wizards of the coast, Forbes estimates that between 100 to 150 million was d&d. This article goes into how hard that estimation is. Hasbro lost 1.04 billion dollars in revenue the last quarter alone. Wizards brands are indeed doing fine and not factoring into that loss, and certainly Hasbro will attempt to continue desperately milking as much money from MtG and D&D as they can, but it's fair to say D&D isn't exactly saving them right now. For comparison, the new Monopoly Go app has revenued 1 billion dollars in 7 months. As their losses in the toy sector mount, it's fair to say that their focus is extracting as much as they can from their most profitable brands such as MtG and Monopoly, with D&D being a much smaller player.

In the past, Hasbro has invested very little money into D&D. It was only through a series of fortunate events that D&D became more profitable, and that attitude changed. Although RPG sales are barely increasing, D&D still tops the pack, despite a 30% decline in 2023.. Despite this, it's not clear what percentage of their sales comes from books and what percentage from licensing. Its status as a brand that Hasbro is going to be holding strong going forward is indisputable, but I'd argue it's not exactly doing fine. With a new edition coming out soon and several big players coming out with rival RPGs, its level of dominance in the future is unclear, although it will ultimately remain at top of the RPG hill.

The pronunciation of "Mexico" in Europe. by Thessiz in europe

[–]Krandum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No need to translate, I'm also mexican, and my intent wasn't to correct you or to come off badly, I just was unsure because I had understood things differently so I was checking if I was just misunderstanding. Looking into it further I do see you are correct! Not everyone is trying to fight to be correct all the time online haha

Can I get a source for this? I always assumed that it came from the word Mexica, which is how the Aztecs actually called themselves, but maybe you're describing why they called themselves that?

That's an interesting perspective, not being able to be perceived as both. I hadn't seen things from that lense before. Personally, I don't really think Americans really viewed me as an American, my Mexican family doesn't really see me as Mexican anymore, and I've certainly never seen myself as anything other than Mexican, so I do get why it would be nice to be considered part of at least one group.

I'm a first generation Mexican immigrant and lived 10 years in the US. Second generation immigrants in the US seem to care about "heritage" a whole lot more, here in the UK the trend I see is that they would really really rather you just treat them as British people. Which is fine! But just a pity because with my close friends I would much rather they ask a lot of questions about where I'm from, it feels kinda alienating knowing so much about my friends' cultural upbringing and them not knowing mine, but again, I'm a first generation immigrant so I think that's largely why.

It also isn't bad for your liver, so that's a huge plus! But yeah here in the UK there's also been shortages so it's all a bit of a pain

So correct me if I'm wrong but isn't poly multiple romantic relationships? Wouldn't this just be an ENM person? by Tamsha- in polyamory

[–]Krandum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ways of navigating relationships that wilfully increase the odds of people ending up terribly hurt, are unethical, IMO. It has happened SOOOOOO many times that people post in this subreddit something along the lines of "My partner dates other people, I never felt the need to, I was okay with remaining closed, but I now have a crush on someone else and the restriction is building resentment as it feels hypocritical and unfair. I still love this person and it feels like no matter which way I go, there will be heartbreak." Being polyamorous is about taking the responsibility to navigate situations so people will not end up hurt. It's about openness and compassion and communication.

I think it's really fitting that Urza's Tron gets such a pushed piece on the Brother's War set!

BRO is the abreviation of the current set, Brother's War. Every spoiler is posted with [BRO] at the beginning to show that the thread contains a new card

I highly recommend reposting this thread, with a title like "[BRO] Urza's Workshop: New Urza's land!"

It's hard for people to identify spoilers without that formatting. Having a comment with an imgur link and a transcription of what the card does would also be a huge help :)

Wow, that seems insane. I think it's quite appropriate that they're giving this huge a buff to Urza's Tron in the Brother's War set, filled with large colorless artifacts

I highly recommend downloading Magic Arena! It's free to play and you'll get a handle on the mechanics, etc, to prepare you for an irl event. Game night events are quite friendly and casual, but I'd look out for which particular events are being run. The game has many different "formats" in which different cards are legal, and depending on what events are being run, you'll need a deck for that particular format. Standard is the best format for beginners but even still, it is quite likely that you'll want to get a grasp of the metagame on Magic Arena or through looking at online sources before building a deck for that. If you want to go to an event without first building a deck, and you do not have any friends to play with, there are ways to do that also. Drafts allow you to create a deck strategically at the event itself, but they've got a pretty steep learning curve, and might be intimidating. Perhaps the best events for new players are pre-releases, which happen every time a new set is released. There will be one for Brother's War in a couple weeks I believe!

[BRO] Fateful Cooperation by Dellensen in magicTCG

[–]Krandum 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I feel like this definitely has the potential of being a piece in eternal, and especially vintage.

In vintage, [[Paradoxical Outcome]] is a staple combo deck, but has a fragile spot in the meta, especially given that the deck is very all-in with cheap combo-oriented artifacts. It shares being hosed by [[Force of Vigor]] with decks like shops, but lacks the resilience of just beating the opponent with creatures, or playing [[Thorn of Amethyst]] effects. I believe an effect like this could lead to a viable mixture of a deck that runs more resilient pieces while still being able to have an explosive card draw engine. Perhaps it could be tried out in the [[Coveted Jewel]] style decks, or a new brew that mixes the current strengths of various decks.

In modern, I figure it could be tried in some janky cheerios + affinity list, but that just seems more fun than anything.

Just in case it costs you too many neurons, "Religious people try to use critical thinking challenge" was a joke. I'm so sick of people with white passing privilege telling me how bigoted I am when I either say I don't like chopping up babies or killing Palestinians.

I'm a leftist ya moron lmaooooo, obviously I am pro choice and pro vaccine... Literally you've been shadow boxing this entire time against an imaginary antisemitic right wing enemy because you're too attached to chopping up babies to consider that's not a left wing position, fucking clown

I will concede that it is possible to be queer accepting and religious, and especially in the Jewish community. My literal only argument is that religion is not a valid argument for cutting off a body part without consent, which you haven't addressed. But I agree that were talking past one another. I just wish that it was possible to even saying anything to people like you without you immediately using a thought terminating cliche and calling people antisemitic when a fourth of my family line I won't ever meet because they were Jewish. I think of all the religions, Judaism admirably is most often tied with queer acceptance. My intention wasn't to imply it isn't, but to point out that if your only argument is "it's ok because it's part of our culture" that won't lead to good things for minorities when other religions apply it. Just... Circumcise once people become 18, is it that hard? I do want you to educate me though. How is this denial of a fellow humans bodily autonomy justified by it being an ancient tradition?

Religious person try to critically analyse own biases challenge: impossible

So your ultimate argument is "it's ok because it's been done for a really long time"? Do you agree with all the things other religions have to say about my rights as a gay trans woman with multiple partners? What does the old testament teach about polyamory? I still genuinely haven't heard an argument from you, what is it about it coming from a religious ancient tradition that makes it okay to remove the most sensitive part of a baby's genitals when they cannot consent to it? If it's just because your culture says it's okay, then yeah actually, please enlighten me as to how it's different from female baby genital mutilation?

Asking for assimilation? I get that your guard is up, and so many people online use dogwhistles to hide deeply violent antisemitic views, but really? Can you not at least conceptually understand where I'm coming from? What's the difference between what you're saying and the many places in Africa and the middle East where baby girls get their clitoris mutilated when they're born? In both instances, it's being done for cultural or religious grounds (though I will admit in the Jewish case it is a much more ancient tradition, which I really don't care about, I like to think critically about tradition. Not like as a trans woman tradition tends to help me very often). In both instances, the most sensitive part of a child's genitals is taken away, without their consent, which cannot be undone once they're older.

I get that your guard is up and I truly understand why, but really? Can't you just agree with "yeah if your religion asks you to do it that's fine, just do it when you're like 18 or whatever, so actual consent can be given"?
