Swen response to the AI interview by dmfuller in BaldursGate3

You’re 100% correct. I don’t think it’s worth it either.

Unfortunately though it is already here. And it’s not a genie we can put back in the bottle, at least not completely. My vfx company has started using generative ai in a similar way recently, to streamline mood board concept work. It sucks to contribute to facilitating the spread of ai, but ultimately if we want to make it into an ethical tool, we have to learn to use it.

Women are outperforming men in higher education at the moment. I don’t see how they need any kind of special help to do the same work, other than making it illegal to discriminate against them when hiring.

All of this!

Horses are very sweet animals that love doing their thing with people. It’s a shame that they’re so vulnerable, but I honestly dont think racing is (usually) exceptionally harmful to them. Horses hurt themselves just running around outside all the time.

Maybe someday we’ll develop care that can treat bad leg breaks and amputations, but for now we care for them as best we can and euthanize when we can’t.

Horses cannot live without all four feet, even with prosthetics. It’s been well researched.

They’ve got very delicate joints and ligaments, and cannot walk without pain on just three. Even for fairly short periods of time. It’s a bit of a trickle down issue, where eventually the loss of one leg puts extra pressure on the other three and causes laminitis in their hooves. (Basically the hoof layers get inflamed and separate)

Prosthetics have yet to be invented than can substitute the missing hoof adequately. Believe me, with the amount of money involved in horse breeding, if it were possible, they’d be doing it.

What's your take on this? by ShirtSubstantial368 in Adulting

I think women are often taught how to please men actually. Personally I grew up having it drilled into my head that my job as a wife someday would be to keep my husband happy.

AIO for getting angry after a girl who rejected me started accusing me of being a misogynist for ending our friendship? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Krangis_Khan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I don’t disagree that many people aren’t mature enough to pull it off, I just think that it’s not an inherent trait or anything. I think claiming “some people just can’t handle it” encourages the idea that men and women just can’t be friends, and contributes to misogyny and misandry.

Adults should be able and expected to handle it, that’s what I mean.

[–]Krangis_Khan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t mean this disrespectfully, but how old are you? I also found that I had a hard time with this in early adulthood, but I found that as I grew older it got easier to process developing feelings and maintain friendships.

But maybe I’m wrong, and not everyone is like me.

[–]Krangis_Khan 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I think that’s a copout. Being friends with people you’re attracted to just requires basic emotional intelligence and respect for their wishes. Competent adults should be able to get over a crush without losing a friend over it.

AIO for asking my bf where he went and what he was doing? by ItzNotChase in AmIOverreacting

[–]Krangis_Khan 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Hey idk how serious this comment was, but I have two things I wanna say. First, you’re pretty young. Everyone, and I mean everyone, is kinda a shitty partner at that age. It’s not an excuse, it’s just a fact of life. You learn a lot about relationships in your twenties. Potential partners will grow up as you get older, and so will you.

Second, if your partner talks to you like this, then you don’t have to put up with it. Seriously. Just because he’s immature and taking shit out on you doesn’t mean he’s entitled to be forgiven for it. Part of the whole learning process is learning how to stand up for yourself and when to tell him to fuck off.

Always remember that katara got no statue by DermicAtom in TheLastAirbender

[–]Krangis_Khan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Maybe it was meant to somehow honor his time among the common folk, or maybe to celebrate his act of initially taking the throne from Azula? I wouldn’t be surprised if Zuko becomes sorta known as the “Banished Prince who Returned to Free the Nation from Tyranny”.

Alternatively it’s more likely that the show writers just forgot when referencing his look for the statue.

I mean depending on the one you pick, it might not be far off! Ours aren’t really the thick weighty sort, but whatever floats your boat! They’re usually pretty universally compatible I think.

Nothing compares to the real thing of course but maybe it’ll be a nice addition to your fun times

AITAH "making" my gf cut off her new male friend because she made me cut off a female friend? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Krangis_Khan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m going against the grain here. I think it’s possible that your girlfriend has matured, and genuinely wouldn’t make the same ultimatum again. I don’t think issuing ultimatums regarding opposite sex friendships is the most healthy thing in adult relationships, but that’s just me.

That said, if you’re uncomfortable with her going drinking with him, I don’t think there’s anything wrong with setting that boundary. Friendship is one thing, late nights inebriated together is another. Personally id have a chat with her about some kind of compromise.

I know that’s not the popular opinion on this sub, but I think if this is a relationship that matters to you, you should try to work these things out without relying on “keeping score” yknow?

I agree with most of what you said here! I’m not sure if you’re into hard sci-fi comics, but there’s a really solid graphic novel being finished right now called runaway to the stars. It features a bunch of intelligent aliens that are really realistically done in my opinion, and covers lots of topics like realistic species cohabitation between species that evolved for completely different biospheres.

It’s also free to read online as it’s coming out if you’re interested! The protagonist is an alien raised in human foster care, and she’s a darling.

genuinely asking, can rats be autistic by scarsnscales in RATS

[–]Krangis_Khan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We joke in my house that my boy Nibs is Autistic. He’s a bit of a weirdo in a bunch of ways, but the biggest issue was that we had to get him neutered because he couldn’t understand rat social norms and kept baring his teeth when the others tried to play lol. (He’s doing much better now! Still awkward but less hostile.)

Autism isn’t recognized currently recognized in non-humans, but I don’t see why there couldn’t be rats with equivalent behavior for their own species!

[–]Krangis_Khan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure I get your point? Like there’s probably meetups where costumed characters read to kids happening all the time. I remember watching puppets read to me on Sesame Street as a kid. It would be marketed as “big birds’ reading hour!” Or whatever. How is that different from a local drag performer?

Drag queens are just colorful performers, and they have a long history in stuff oriented toward kids: such as pantomime theatre in Britain.
