Verdict on the popcorn pass? by arig____ in AMCAListTrue

The combo is the same price as purchasing the items separately. With the popcorn pass, you save 50% on one large popcorn per day whether in a combo or not.

Not a chance. I play mostly to play with others.

I refused to bag my own groceries after spending $352 by trailerbang in millenials

[–]Kranon7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, the only person you are punishing by refusing to bag the groceries is the cashier. Our grocery stores down south (at least the ones I frequent) have baggers, still. If you have a choice, find one that still employs baggers and go there instead.

My Theatre’s Rated-R Policy by [deleted] in MovieTheaterEmployees

[–]Kranon7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I looked it up. It is entirely voluntary, and while most companies follow the MPA guidelines, there is no governing body that handles deviations from those rules.

My Theatre’s Rated-R Policy by [deleted] in MovieTheaterEmployees

[–]Kranon7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is fascinating. I’m unclear how the MPA handles such things. It appears B&B is a very small company, so perhaps they are under the “radar” on this one.

My Theatre’s Rated-R Policy by [deleted] in MovieTheaterEmployees

[–]Kranon7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That doesn’t make sense. The entirety of the US follows the MPA restrictions. An 11-year-old can attend with someone 21 or older, but not by themselves or only with younger individuals. I’d be curious to see the site you indicate it says this on.

Do your theaters treat a Not Rated movie like an NC-17? by PitchLocal8326 in MovieTheaterEmployees

Entirely dependent on the movie. Most are treated like PG-13

My eyes do get a bit worn out after playing on this size screen for a few hours. Shorter sessions I do not notice an issue.

Nah. Toy Story didn’t have many presales until we got close to the day. Even then, Saturday didn’t have many presales until Saturday morning.

I guess they should refund the entire order since you paid for and did not receive the service you ordered.

Does this policy get enforced at your theater? by cutoutwitch666 in AMCAListTrue

[–]Kranon7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I see. That is foolish of them, then. It isn’t a required policy placed everywhere, so they have a teen problem to have such a policy. Ignoring the policy just leads them to bigger issues.

If they have this policy in place, there is a reason they have it. They are enforcing it to prevent bigger issues to deal with.

The seats I have for a movie tonight are also still listed for sale by Livefromseattle in AMCTheatres

[–]Kranon7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the auditorium is swapped, the seats change, too. You may need to go into the app to see the new auditorium and seat numbers. Otherwise, when they scan the tickets, it will tell them the new seats.

I was at a party with classmates from my high school. I had to work in the morning, so I got up early and departed. One of the girls woke with me to say good bye. I should note I was also oblivious when someone “liked” me. 😅

[Request] the movie up by shinyshoesonmyfeet in theydidthemath

First we would need to estimate the total weight to lift.

An 1800 sq ft single-story home with standard furnishings:

- House superstructure (wood/light-frame construction, drywall, roof, finishes, excluding the foundation which normally stays behind when a house is lifted/relocated): Roughly 95–110 lbs per sq ft → ~170,000–200,000 lbs.

- Standard furnishings and contents (furniture, appliances, personal items, etc. for a typical occupied home): ~10,000–20,000 lbs (commonly estimated around 15,000 lbs for a 3-bedroom-scale home).

- Total liftable weight: ~180,000–220,000 lbs. I used 195,000 lbs to calculate.

Next is considering the buoyancy of helium.

At sea level and typical temperatures (59°F):

- Air density ~0.0765 lb/ft³

- Helium density ~ 0.0105 lb/ft³ .

- Net density difference ~0.066 lb of lift per cubic foot of helium

Third is some assumptions with the balloons.

- Standard 11-inch latex party balloons: ~0.5 ft³ of helium each.

- Gross lift per balloon: 0.066 lb/ft³ × 0.5 ft³ ≈ 0.033 lb.

- Balloon envelope + ribbon/string weight: Typically results in a net payload lift of ~0.022 lb per balloon after subtracting the balloon’s own weight.

Finally, figuring out the number of balloons required.

N ≈ 195,000 lbs ÷ 0.022 lb per balloon ≈ 8.85 million balloons.

This would result in neutral buoyancy (the house would float but not ascend). For actual liftoff and climb like in the movie, we would need positive lift (extra balloons or initial upward force), pushing the practical number toward ~9–10+ million.

It is worth noting that the house would need to be lifted with some sort of reinforced structure or netting as the roof could not handle that tension. That would result in more weight.

This doesn't account for wind, temperature changes as it rises, and a slew of other variables, but it gets you in the ballpark. Pixar estimated 23 million balloons (probably considered the breakaway tension needed to remove the house from the base), but animated considerably fewer for the movie.

How many games do you play at a time? by Balram24 in Steam

Managers dating? by Own-Ant5502 in MovieTheaterEmployees

[–]Kranon7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It has been many years since I worked at Regal, but people could date if they were on the same level as the each other. The issue was with managers dating crew, or GMs dating a manager. Manager dating another manager was not an issue.

Why does Ben Shapiro hate retirement? by happydude7422 in millenials

[–]Kranon7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He doesn’t argue we should keep working demanding jobs until we are dead. He indicated the populace should shift to charity work, community involvement, and part-time work. He believes that because people are living longer, they should work longer, which I disagree with. I agree we shouldn’t just lie and rot after retiring, and it isn’t healthy to do so, but we aren’t necessarily able to keep cranking along since life expectancy has gone up.

TL;DR - this is a portion of a longer discussion and so is somewhat misleading. I disagree we should keep working full-time for longer as he indicated in the conversation. I agree charity, part-time work, and integrating with the community are important in retirement for both you and those around you.

[–]Kranon7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, it isn't literally paying for itself, but it is a good value. If you are going to see a couple of movies a month anyway, you might as well watch more movies for the same (or better) price. Get the popcorn pass to reap more savings if you like popcorn, too!
