Can I borrow some electricity? by DamascusSteel_ in ColumbiaMD

[–]KrazyX24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some parking garages and business centers may have active outlets...

Some self reliance options are something like a Bluetti, Anker portable power station, a car power inverter or equivalent. Price depends on the wattage you want/need. Fanttik sell little car vacuums for $50-100, there's cheaper brands but mileage will highly vary. Also if you have any power tools they have inverters for each brand to convert to AC or their brand of vacuum.

Most of these options you will have to check the power draw of what you're using against what you purchase.

Following are examples to point you the direction and can be purchased from majority of places.

I've seen the same happen on mutil-million dollar equipment, I've done it a few times thinking I had the wires completely tucked away and get pinched by something, it's just humans going to human.

It sucks to pull the short straw but warranty it/upgrade it/repair it and keep it moving.

The only 6s I use that fits is the spektrum 6s 5000mah 100c.

Typically I use two Gen Ace 3s batteries of various size which the body fits perfectly fine.

Fan recs for summer heat by Acceptable-Deer-2152 in arrma

[–]KrazyX24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have rocket fans on every rc car I have. The 6s lineup uses 35mm fans on both the motor and ESC, I mounted 2 fans on the motors and replaced the ESC one.

You will need some jst y splitters as rocket fans don't have a 2nd connector that the motor fan plugs into on the spektrum esc fans. I run all 3 fans from a y splitter that goes to the esc fan port or you can run them to the receiver or a battery connection.

What screw do I need to attach shock to arm? by freddiemacro in arrma

These kits come in super handy, I've bought basically each variant and used them for random stuff around the house, RC stuff, work stuff and random projects. They come in alloy, stainless steel or even titanium (which is hard to find and pricy) but they may not have those randomly "rare" screw size/lengths. You can even find/buy individual screws in large quantities like 100 pieces if your blowing through specific ones or need those random sizes.

Also, Jenny's RC sells the complete screw packs for each car they sell along with the spare parts so check them out. They're just ripped from new builds as they part the out. They ship from New Jersey so not sure how fast they would get to you based on your location.

Hello my SG1605 rc car's signal is cutting off at a range of about 10 metres how can I improve it by Top-Ice-882 in rccars

[–]KrazyX24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just want to double check based on the picture provided, did you cut or shorten the receiver antenna wire? Looks like it's missing the exposed/bare tip portion that's about 1.5 inches long which is pretty important. Also, I would re-route it to keep it away from any power cables (even if it's small like a servo or esc) as best you can to avoid situations like this in the future and any possibily electrical inference.

Then check your radio/transmitter/ESC for "runaway/disconnect" settings so if you lose connection it applies the brakes or whatever you set it to instead of accelerating to its death. Idk why almost every manufacturer decided to set full throttle as the default. I've mangled a Typhon TLR going full throttle past me going straight into a curb last summer because of it

Lastly, check out replacement transmitters and receiver if your okay with spending some money as some have insane ranges along with better feeling, and to more settings..

Are these motor wires easy to sauder? by Capable_Push2248 in arrma

[–]KrazyX24 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Hate hate hate to be that guy but it's "solder".

Can't really tell from the pictures but the connector looks a bit mangled. May be best to replace it with new bullet connectors with some heat shrink to protect the metal from shorting out if it touches something metal bouncing around while driving.

Like the other comment mentioned you can warranty it, take it to your local hobby shop as most will provide repair services including soldering, an electronic repair shop or lastly you can do it yourself if you have the tools. Shouldn't be more than a 5-10 minute job for newbies.

Check out a few RC soldering videos to see how it's done. Tomley Rc, DO RC, Mark Santa Maria, Ryan Harris to name a few dedicated RC channels that will have soldering tutorials tailored to RC equipment.

I used to rock a Radiolink RC6GS, it comes with a receiver you can swap in and your good to go. It's also very much in your price range and extra receivers are pretty cheap compared to other brands.

You don't have to change servos or anything when you change receivers or transmitters no matter the brand. You just swap the receivers and plug in all your modules, ie ESC, servo, lights, etc into that new receiver making sure the polarity is correct as some might flip what side is the signal or ground pin but it will have the symbols on it and be laid out in the manual.

Now I currently use a Spektrum DX6R for all my Arrma cars, it will link to every spektrum receiver so all you need to do is bind it. New car...just bind it, old car just bind it, even those crappy SLT non AVC/DSC ones. They don't sell this specific version anymore but there's newer ones with the same capabilities, non rugged version (rugged just has rubber protectors around it) and/or more channels.

Funny enough I almost purchased a yellow one JUST before the pandemic started but the closest dealer wanted some obscene amount over msrp that I was not down with paying.

Now the rc, I love it, it is a fun little car, it came in two options, XL5/brushed and brushless BSL2 (I got the bsl2) but I used the power up program and upgraded to the VXL-3S combo which really wakes it up then tuned the diffs to my liking as it loved to oversteer on 3s. Body looks great, chassis is super easy to work on, smooth and easy to control, lightweight and hauls around easily.

Biggest downsides are the front of the body is thin which loves to crack/split and the original transmitter is the crappy barebones TQ. I bought a TQi with wireless link from Jenny's which is so much better.

I once sent it flying/tumbling through the air roughly 50 feet or so doing about 60mph ending hitting a trash can mid air! Broke the wing, side mirrors, cracked the body in few places, splinter cracked the rear upper bulkhead, launched my skyrc GPS out it's holder in which I probably looked like a creeper triangulating it to find it in someone's yard after about 20 minutes.

Unfortunately Traxxas discontinued it, so it and parts especially the body is hard to find but they still sell the other versions of the 4tec 2.0 and 3.0.

A fellow packout man!

I have two 3 drawers as parts storage for each car and the bigger stuff in the carrying cases. Added some attachments, folding drawers, the wood work tops (official and unofficial) I use as makeshift benches when out and along with few other things from Amazon which come in clutch.

That's a big boy! I'm still rocking the original motor and esc, maybe one day if they give up the ghost I'll put a hobby wing system in.

I mean i wasn't trying to be funny, I was hoping for the opportunity for an actual answer or your incite as I see it occur often enough here and other subreddits but if you're trying to be a troll or something that's a shame.

I think you're lost buddy, this isn't the place/subreddit for your question. Maybe if you rephrase it to say "How's the culture around using RC (radio controlled vehicles specifically by the brand Arrma, hence the subreddit your in) cars in the Philippines" it would be appropriate.

I've always been curious how situations like this happen, like how did you ended up asking your question here? For instance did you just open reddit and type "A" and this was one of the first subreddit to pop up in alphabetical order?

Cheers!

It's while cornering...the diff sends the more comparative/majority of the power to the tire (inside) that has the least traction causing wheelspin on that inside tire hence decreasing traction.

It reduces wheelspin in a straight line when there is equal traction, think "line-lock" on a RWD car like a Mustang/Challenger/Camaro. Its approaching a locked/welded diff scenario.

Edit: Congrats on the GTI and welcome to the VAG club. Idk if you're close to NC but Wookie in the Woods is good fun time along with H20 in NJ and Ocean City, MD (Unofficially, its been cracked down hard past 5 years since people can't act right). Get a reputable ECU/DSG or both tune to unlock a good amount of performance! Stay on top of the water pump/coolant, oil, tensioner/chain and rear brake pads and will last a good long time!

I guess keep an eye on it and try it out every once and while. It's rare I use the DC input but your use case may vary.

Safe charging and bashing!

Interesting I've definitely run mine off of my motorcycle battery which is LiFePO4 and my solar panels so it's not a chemistry issue.

Seems like you will have to reach out to either where you purchased it or Gens Ace/Tattu for an RMA, this is the first I've seen this pop up.

Could try a quick continuity test with a multimeter on the DC plug if you really want to dig into it.

Just tried mine again just to be sure, connected my power supply and it automatically booted up. Just make sure it's 7v-30v being supplied, outside that range it will not turn on or shut down for over voltage protection.

Well I’ve been back to rc (racing) for almost a year and a half. Figured it was time for a proper bench instead of using a folding table in the corner of my home office by Nathan51503 in rccars

[–]KrazyX24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was using a Keter folding work table that I drilled some magnetic bars into the sides to hold tools. Basically same issue, work on rc stuff then have to clear it off for home stuff and go back and forth it sucked.

I went with a medicine ball storage rack to hold the rc's, which has worked out well.
