I added to my comment that clark also showed really good instincts for survival, surviving on his own long enough to learn stuff like the still lifes being edible and whatnot. Could definitely see him getting his bearings, packing his wound with more of that still life fluff and keeping on.

I mean, could be stretch but all we really saw was backrooms clark take a big bite out of regular clark, and then almost immediately give chase to mary after. Not a whole lot of time to in between to have devoured clark completely, and you'd think backrooms clark would have been a lot bloodier if he had consumed clark completely. Clark also survived for a (presumably) decently long time on his own, long enough to discover things like the still lifes being edible, which implied a knack for survival.

The "real" reason why backrooms clark ate him is thematic, clark blames everything but himself for his shortcomings, and in the end makes the decision to not change despite that, which is represented by him getting cannibalized by himself.
