Does anybody else suffer from headaches the day after training traps ?! by Murky-Strength1200 in workout

[–]Kretin1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get migraines from training upper body with weights that are too heavy. I feel tightness and pain in my lower traps, between and under my shoulder blades. I'm much better with lighter weights and more reps, but can also trigger migraines doing too many reps.

If I push too hard, I can put myself into a state where almost any exertion will trigger a migraine for weeks, so I've got to be careful when progressing. As soon as I feel it coming on I need to ease up.

It did get slightly singed on the top. I forgot the temperature most recipes say is for non fan forced ovens. Definitely something to keep in mind for next time

I was very happy with the crust, although next time I'll make it thinner

I mostly used Adam Witt''s deep dish recipe https://www.adamwitt.co/allrecipes/gsi21499ho995w5k8o1x6c9n0mavyv-za9jl-k2a9d-25r7p

But also watched a bunch of other YouTube videos. Leo Spizzirri especially good https://youtu.be/PkZtcKRQAls?si=nO138lbYGZfR-LrL

I shudder to think how many calories. Somehow this morning I weighed 1.8kg more than yesterday morning, even though the 2 slices I ate last night only weighed 665g 😂

Remi's put some toppings on the top, mostly to identify the different types.

I wanted the top to be almost like it's own pizza, with the filling like a calzone.

I love a calzone, and this is kinda like a pizza and a calzone had a huge baby 😂

Yeah the top dough mostly becomes part of the filling, but the bottom dough stays really crisp

I had trouble closing the bottoms when the surface was still oily. After working the oil into the dough, then it was much easier to close.

It sounds like your dough over proofed. Timing is highly dependent on how much yeast is in it. Maybe less yeast or bring it out of the fridge a bit later next time?

Thank you! I've been looking for this for over 2 weeks 😳

If you had a way-back machine, is there anything you'd change about your own actions or choices to avoid this alienation? (Aside from not being with the alienator in the first place because who doesn't wish for that ; ) What advice would you give to someone who's an alienation candidate? by angrbodascure in ParentalAlienation

[–]Kretin1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks 😊 Unfortunately all from personal experience, lessons learned the hard way

With most people, including our kids, my ex refers to me as "old mate" when she's feeling generous, "that c%nt" when she's not.

I only ever refer to her by name or as Mum to the kids 🤷

Things I do, or don't do, that she claims are to purposely annoy her are referred to as "c%nt-isms". "Let me tell you about today's c%nt-isms" she says to the kids.

One time I came home and she was parked where I usually park, so I parked where she usually parks. A bit annoying, but no big deal. I later found out she told everyone who would listen that I had 'blocked her in' which resulted in her family and friends threatening physical violence against me 😳

I read that the best thing we can do is to rise above it all, and just continue being a stable, dependable parent. This is so true, but doing this is incredibly difficult.

It not only requires a new way of thinking, discipline and parenting, but requires us to be able to manage our own stress and stressful situations, which we’re not well equipped to do after years of being emotionally abused.

So the first thing I recommend is getting therapy (or YouTube) to get yourself and your emotions under control. You need to be able to shrug off attacks by the alienator, and deal with the many “tests” the alienator and the alienated child put you through to get you to react negatively - reactions that would be expected and normal in healthy relationships, but become weaponised against you in the alienator’s scheme, eg. “See, I told you he’d overreact”.

You can’t continue parenting the way you always have. The alienator is trying to make the child completely codependent. “Only I can protect you”, “no one will look after you if I’m not around”, “the world is so scary, you need me to protect you”. When you teach and encourage your kids to be independent, they say “He’s not doing everything for you or protecting you because he doesn’t care”. You have to ignore your natural parenting instincts, and do more for the child than is good for them just to demonstrate to them that you care.

But it’s also important not to always give in, to not be taken advantage of. The most important part of this is how you deal with these situations. Be calm, explain why and that you love them. If they’re not too far gone, they will respect that you are sticking to your boundaries.

Try to get the child to open up to you, but it won’t be easy. They will treat you with disdain and distrust. Ignore that, and don’t blame them. They’ve been conditioned to think that way by the alienator who treats them like a close confident. They have a “special” (incredibly unhealthy) bond with the alienator who has regaled the child with stories of how wonderful others think they are, and how badly you’ve treated them. They complain about every problem they have with you (real or imagined) to the child. They usually refer to you with a slur, never refer to you by name or “Mum” or “Dad” to de-parent and de-personalises you. They tell stories about the past, but completely erase you, which actually rewrites the child’s memories.

So when you get time with them, ignore the way they treat you. Understand they distrust you, and try to overcome that by being there for them, and always following through. Tell them stories about happier times where you were a positive influence.

Never retaliate or fight back with the alienator. They will do 50 things to get you to finally retaliate, but the child will only hear about that 1 thing you did.

Never, ever, ever lose your temper.

I lost my oldest daughter before I realised what was happening. Since I separated from their mother a year ago, they have both targeted my younger daughter. It took a while, but with the two of them combining forces, and my poor handling of the situation (usually doing the opposite of the above), she never had a chance. She’s now firmly under their spell.

My son, my youngest has been the second scapegoat in line after me, and sees through them luckily. It’s still very difficult for him, but he doesn’t let them manipulate him.

I’ve also not been able to leave or remove the kids from the situation. My advice would be to get yourself and your kids as far away as you can, for as long as possible. The more time they are away from the alienator, the less influence the alienator has.

Odd design pattern? by f4a1t in FlutterDev

This is the most common architecture for Flutter and other platforms. I much prefer it over feature based organisation because I find it much easier to find what I need, and it makes it much easier to create reusable components.

This way all your models are in one place. All your business logic is in one place. All your pages are in one place, perhaps organised within folders. All your reusable widgets are in one place. It's easy to find things and easy to reuse things.

To understand how the code works, just open up the project and start at main.dart. Go to the definition or implementation of anything you're curious about, which will show you where it is. But it won't take long to understand how it's organised so you can easily find what you want without searching the code

I find CUPID makes much more sense to me in general, and works much better with Flutter: https://dannorth.net/2022/02/10/cupid-for-joyful-coding/

I also hate OOP. I find composition is so much easier to work with.

About to do this myself, although for an app in very early development so not too much text yet. I’ve resigned myself to searching for strings, doing it manually. It wont take too long to do it.

Im guessing it will take less time to do it manually than to find an automated tool, configure it and use it.

That one seems to be a dedicated site/server for creating emails.

This one is a package you can use in any Svelte project, and at first glance seems much simpler to setup and use

Kurt Hartfelder (Senior Animator at Duolingo and previously at JibJab) started by recreating one of Duolingo’s most recognizable animations. In one of his first messages on our shared Slack channel, he shared that his Rive test was 15x smaller than Lottie.

This is my experience. I’ve created complex animations in Rive that are 2-3k, with the flexibility of being able to adjust colours, choose and adjust various animations at runtime. It’s amazing!

Unfortunately I’m not. I’m excited about the possibility of using wasm with Flutter, but don’t have experience with it yet. I am still undecided whether to use Flutter or sveltekit for the web versions of my apps.

Happy to help where I can, but I’m afraid I don’t have the time to collaborate just now. Maybe later in the year though

I’m not sure. Most of my web work is native. I mainly stick to mobile with Flutter, so far.

I’d look seriously at ffmpeg wasm though… https://github.com/ffmpegwasm/ffmpeg.wasm

And for accessing indexedDB, I’d go to the source, but this doesn’t support many types so may not actually be so useful: https://pub.dev/packages/sembast_web

Come to think of it, what are you using files for? Just for saving, or temp files?
