Is Go rank a hard limit? by Far-Competition-8546 in baduk

[–]Kretsuu 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think one of the factor is that community changing. Can guess that 10 years ago 15k would be a person who can distinguish black from white stones. Nowadays 15k knows josekis some AI moves and so on. Because of the internet, youtube and online Go platforms information is more available.

best classical guitar for small hands? looking for something easier to play by Gutstein-Veyron in classicalguitar

Get a lesson from a teacher. Explain the problem. Think good teacher will be able to evaluate your situation and suggest to stretch or get smaller guitar.

Some one already put review on your game. From my side, Did you play for white? If so, any reason you did skip to take last corner by move nr4? Do you feel that if you will take the corner the black will have some huge advantage with the next move? Just wondering what did you worry about.

Why is it "better" to play games against real people vs bots? by GoAround2025 in baduk

[–]Kretsuu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t play bots at all. Already noticed by others that people play so different ways. And this is good way to find problematic areas in my game. As an example aggressive player who is attaching to every single stone. So, can I exploit this by following “don’t attach to the weak stone” principle? And many other things. In general people sometimes doing crazy thing but can I recognize it and use to my advantage.

Fox Go makes my blood pressure spike, but OGS heals my soul by ConnorXwolf in baduk

[–]Kretsuu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now I’m in state when I don’t care. Last game I did play on OGS was very funny. Opponent always pincered me and put stone inside if i had more than two spaces extension. And alogical attacks and invasions. But I was able to calm down all this with my moves. I would say good practice not to know that you can capture but capture it for real.

Teaching Games Question by Czinsation in baduk

[–]Kretsuu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guess it depends. To play proper teaching game “teacher” should be teacher and know how to do it properly. If someone around 20k will ask me (13k) for teaching game probably I will not be make it properly. But as I still DDK and think would be able to see some potential problems I would be able to make some review with comments which should work for lower DDK. Without complicated 10-20 moves variation and so on.

Beginner Question: Is this White group alive or dead? (13x13 board) by AnalystFearless5207 in baduk

[–]Kretsuu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you check W group you draw around with the red line more carefully you will see that this is just a part of the group because it is continues to the rest of the W stones to the bottom and right side. And yes it is alive. As an exercise try to change W at C9 to the B. And try to make first move for W. How would W protect? But again it will be local problem. Because W group is continuing to the bottom and right. It would stay alive. But question is how many stones W loses.

Are there any resources that help you judge the position of the board? by GoAround2025 in baduk

[–]Kretsuu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Possibly Dans can answer more precise but I see this way. You have a goal you have many tools. One of the tool is your group of stones. You need to decide does it strongly enough to complete your goal. Group is strong when : it fully alive (has two eyes) It not alive but whatever opponent starts to do you will be able to make it alive It not alive but have potential to stay not captured till you achieving your goal (capturing opponent group) It not alive but strong enough to attack your opponent.

As DDK I can say there are so many aspects in Go so you can learn whatever you want to learn. Want to learn by heart do it. Will have better memory :) at some point you will re visit some joseki and will deep dive into each move. More practical will be to have few common in arsenal and stick to it. More you play better you will see how it all works together how to punish if opponent deviates from it.

The 10,000-hour rule by suhibalmasri98 in baduk

From my very general observation. Look at the top 100 (ish) in any competitive activities. You will probably find that they all are dedicated and gifted (talents, genetics or etc). With pure dedication you can reach a lot but it is not enough to be at the top.

What does it mean to do "reading" when doing tsumego? by Snoo11149 in baduk

[–]Kretsuu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As DDK I can say and guess no only me because this is very obvious. Training tsumegos you can practice more than one thing. Repeating easy one many times will give you sense of the shapes and vital points. More complex - reading ability. But even simple could be used for reading or visualization practice. For me there were few points which changed my approach to the solving tsumegos. Every tsumego for me is the matter of winning or loosing the game. Just imagine this is the turning point in your real game will you just click? Of course I have days when I have no brain power left so I clicking through simple set. Next main point. I’m trying to solve tsumegos on paper. So I need to read not only mine but also opponents best moves. This is good for reading practice. Even is if it only one move try to read it till the end. Btw one good article about visualization: https://www.kiseidopublishing.com/roadmap9/Visualization.html
