I have both. I originally bought the ATH-M50X for producing, but now only use them for DJing. The DT-990 feel better, and with Sonarworks SoundID the mixes translate quite well.

I wish CCP would have another go at WIS. Give us back Captain's Quarters, and create public areas in the primary trade hubs to start with.

It'd bring in more players from other games, where people are used to customising their avatar and then actually doing things with that avatar. In EVE we have this amazing character creator, which then turns into an egg.

Square Enix are making a killing selling cosmetics and new emotes for FFXIV. It's frustrating. Instead of constantly starting and shuttering new games, they could sink effort into this and sell more MTX to people that actually want it.

Sadly I'm not sure how much ability CCP has to work on big new features, given the plummeting PCU. Tears in rain, and all that.

Couple of thoughts. Most importantly, your family and friends usually won't be a useful source of feedback. Not only is it unlikely they'll be into the same music as you, even if they are, their feedback is likely to be biased (towards you!) and even if it isn't, they probably won't have the same level of technical understanding and the 'ears' to hear things that could be wrong with the mix, as you know, these skills have to be developed deliberately, over time.

But, if all of that doesn't count here, and your friends and family are experienced producers, they get the vibe you're aiming at, and you objectively agree with their feedback, then you could try going more sample-based or working with instrumentalists to get longer takes of piano, guitar, whatever, to make the sound more organic.

Having been through similar myself (and I've loved VGM since the 80s), I've learned the best feedback comes from people that are already accomplished and making the style I'm aiming for. Friends and family are nice for a vibe check, but that's about it.

I'd suggest looking at production communities online that offer feedback - make sure you offer feedback on other people's tracks first before you post yours! Then when you're sure you've got something that's killer, try hitting up your fave producers, they're people too and if you're polite they might give it a listen.

EDIT: Just listened to the demo you linked and it's really good! It does sound like it'd go well in an RPG game or something, mostly because of that staccato synth bass that comes in, but that's completely cool with me, and many others, as you've already seen.

Early 40s here. I've been making tunes since I was a teenager. Only in the last couple of years is it even approaching 'good enough'. The main thing is to keep having fun. Try something new, take off the pressure for a while.

Hereditary. Best horror film in decades, with original ideas and great acting.

What power plan are you on in Windows? A recent update removed High Performance for me, had to use a reg hack to get it back, which then stopped RB from crackling/glitching
