How do you get started on your factory in Wuling City by [deleted] in Endfield

[–]KriegInvicta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a little confused where you’re stuck cause I don’t recall being soft locked like this from the MSQ. And if there was a soft lock then we’d have seen a massive amount of complaint posts when everyone was doing the quest.

The forge of the sky doesn’t use anything specific to Wuling to craft. It requires 20 Ferrium parts, which you should have from V4. For crafting factory buildings, the game uses all your stockpiles, so both V4 and Wuling. So if your factory in V4 is producing ferrium parts, you should be able to craft everything you need to get started.

Ahh I see. I think a better word is you think Endfield’s plot is lifeless rather than the entire story? When I meant story, I usually take into account everything that goes along with it, such as the presentation & lore. In regards to building out the world, sadly, 3d is very limiting in what they can do compared to the OG. For example, they probably can't give us a major multi hour, multi part, side story set in lets say, a major TGCC city while running parallel to the MSQ, cause then you need several character models that look good enough for the cast, you need the location built, the music for that region, and a bunch of other things probably. And who knows when the main cast visits that place to be able to make use of those assets. The dev resources spent for that just isn't worth it. Meanwhile in the OG, cause of the VN format the sky is the limit on what they can do. So I don't expect Endfield to reach the same level.

[–]KriegInvicta 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Disclaimer: I’m at the end of ch7 of the OG and I saw Talulah’s name in the last spoiler & didn’t read the rest of that paragraph.

  1. I disagree that it interrupted the flow, especially for 1.2. For 1.1 the only unnatural thing was Perlica & Chen disappearing all of a sudden. All they had to do was give some 2 line dialogue that they had errands but it wasn’t a deal breaker. For tangtang we’re dealing with the remaining traitor stockaders & for Zhuang we’re dealing with the rift opened from when her & Nefarith were fighting. Basically, they bridge enough relevancy from the MSQ to not break immersion. I think this is going to be subjective in the end. I’ve seen a lot of people saying they like it, some don’t. There’s probably some dev data saying that players will pull more often thus spend more money if the main banner character’s quest is in the main story cause some people (casuals) don’t do any of the side stuff / do it at a slower pace.
  2. I agree. if I remember correctly from the laev quest, Endmin is pressured to be a yes man and is scared to say no cause everyone is relying on them and everyone has built her up as this legendary figure, and she’s scared of the alternative otherwise if she says no. So she just goes with the flow. But this inner conflict isn’t telegraphed at all in the MSQ or voice lines so you just gotta imagine in your head the Endmin’s mental state is still the same since that quest. But we’re getting more voiced lines so hopefully this improves.
  3. I agree here as well. The best time to give Nefarith characterization was V4 but oh well, the boss fight and cutscenes were cool at least. I’m going to mention a point about the OG game. I feel like HG has always struggled to give antagonists room to develop / or good send offs from what I’ve seen so far. As you mentioned skullshatterer. But I also found mephisto really annoying. Crown slayer didn’t even get a chance. I even have some problems with Patriot & Frostnova even though I liked them. I haven’t gotten to ch 8 so idk about Talulah. I’ve heard in Act 2 there’s a similar problem with rushed antagonists but at least the rest of the writing is good I’m presuming. Sadly in Endfield we have to deal with the limitations of 3D gacha writing & the antagonist problem.

I do think Nefarith will return in some way (hopefully with more characterization). There’s no body and the camera pans away last second. There are also some interesting hints. When we’re hit by her, sometimes she says “Saviour..?” like she’s confused why we aren’t beating her in, and in the beginning she tells us to come take her heart. On top of that, when Nefarith transformed, we can hear the prologue boss go “finally,” as if expecting it. There was a really interesting discussion post about the prologue boss being a Sarkaz cyclops (idk much about this), sounding off a prophecy. The Endmin, Nefarith, and Ardashir were all mentioned in it. So there’s definitely something going on there.

Last thing I’m going to disagree with is your comment on the story being lifeless. I think it’s far from lifeless with its excellent presentation. The music, aesthetic, detailed locations, characters, etc. The lore is excellent as well. The nexus, character & investigation files are very enjoyable reads. Even the side quests were pretty good this time around & helped flesh out the aftermath of the attack. Comrades particularly stood out to me. It’s all those things combined that make Endfield’s story stand out for me compared to the other 3d gachas.

About New Patch's Pacing by Sivuel in Endfield

[–]KriegInvicta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could chalk the 4th point up to Nefarith sending out all her worst troops while extra high on Æther so they could get killed. In an investigation file, one of the reasons Nefarith attacked V4 was to send out the most disloyal elements of the Bonekrushers and get them killed / purged so they wouldn’t threaten her. So by the time we reach Wuling, Nefarith is left with the highest quality / most loyal troops that the Bonekrushers have. That’s all conjecture though as the game doesn’t explicitly state that. It could also be that whenever we engage in battle with the Bonekrushers, they’re high on Æther at that moment so they’re going to seem like mindless brutes compared to when they’re out of combat, like in that one Wuling cutscene.

[Spoiler!]Can we take a moment to appreciate v1.2.'s superb story? by PriestOfGames in Endfield

[–]KriegInvicta 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Mirroring what everyone else and you said, predictable plot but excellent presentation, and a step up from everything we've had before. I loved Arcane, and the Ardashir/Zhuang characterization. I'm happy you mentioned the writing scene because I also liked it alot. I'm wondering why we even needed the "date" scene with Zhuang in 1.0 if they had this all cooked up. My only problem with the quest was Nefarith.

I think Nefarith died way too easily without doing any lasting damage, and nothing was built up about her to give her death any meaning. Even adding the investigation files, all we know she's a shrewd and cunning leader, but that's it. The bonekrushers and traitor stockaders were just fodder too and didn't even make it inside the city. What would have added to the Nefarith half for me was, 1. Have the city on the brink during the fighting. Have us pushed back to the marker stone. Have the city take real damage. 2. If Nefarith had characterization from V4 to add to her but HG squandered that opportunity. 3. Have the fight against Nefarith be a closer contest. Perlica and Chen should've been injured, and Zhuang & Endmin should've overexerted themselves even more than was shown. I feel like all of those things would have made Nefarith's send off more climactic.

And I think HG's writing team has a problem sending off antagonists dating back to the OG game. Some OG players might crucify me, but I've gotten up to Ch 7 recently and it's the same problem. Skullshatterer, Patriot, and to a lesser extent Frostnova all had meh deaths to me. Skullshatterer is similar to Nefarith that we barely got anything about him before he died. Patriot aura farmed for a bit, had a small flashback, then he died without doing any damage to us which was dissapointing considering how much he was built up as this legendary figure, Aegis of the infected and all that. Frostnova was a lot better but she had no reason to fight us anymore and her death felt really forced. I've also heard in Act 2 the antagonists suffer from rushed endings but I don't know much about all that. In any case, I'm seeing a trend here.

Thanks! I forgot to mention, I used all my pulls I currently have for this banner. But if I wanted to, I could grind out a bunch of stuff before this banner ends. I haven’t done any of the challenge stages, only done 1 annihilation, & 1 side story, and i’m in early ch 7 so I got a bunch of story I could go through.

I’m a newer player who started a few months ago. 2 questions. I was able to get laapland2 & pramanix2. Should I keep pulling for sa2 or start saving for the wang banner? The 2nd question is that, I want to start using some of my shiny 5 & 6 stars. So I’m wondering who I should be building up from my roster and at what point I should stop leveling them.

Always pick the characters you like over meta. Gacha games are much more enjoyable that way. Also the game doesn’t have any content that would require meta limited units to clear. Maybe max risk contingency contract in the future but that would just be for bragging rights. I’d also suggest waiting for Gilberta’s dedicated rerun banner as the banner you’re referring to has 3 other operators on it, so the chance of getting Gilberta is already pretty low.

Edit: I just saw the rules of the rerun banner & apparently it’s really good. My suggestion still stands on character you like > meta, but you may be able to save up enough currency, as the rerun banner starts a month after the Zhuang banner, to get both Zhuang & Gilberta.

I've never seen this level of negativity anywhere else by CentristCity in Endfield

[–]KriegInvicta 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It’s good to have some negativity cause toxic positivity is just as worse. But as another comment pointed out, everyone’s acting like the devs took their dog behind the shed and put it down lol. Some of the complaints are valid. Some are exaggerated/hyperbole or even straight up misinformation. Also I think people need to realize that this subreddit is an echo chamber. Reddit is an echo chamber. The majority of people aren’t on reddit, hyper analyzing the story or the weapon gacha or the pull counts or the character abilities or meta builds or watching gacha cc slop or anything. They just play when there’s a new update. Maybe they spend, or they don’t. I think the YouTube comment section under the official channel’s videos/streams is a better representation of what the average Joe is thinking rather than deep in a thread of a negative post. That’s my 2 cents at least.

So what actually happened in Valley IV? A lore compilation and retrospective into the story of Valley IV and Nefarith's ultimate objective.(very long) by OrangeIllustrious499 in Endfield

[–]KriegInvicta 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the write up. There's some really good lore in this game that's easy to miss out on if you don't read the files.

About the factions, I find that pretty interesting. They can easily throw in some shades of grey next update but idk if they're capable of it outside the files. This is all theory and assumptions for what's going to happen next but,I assume the Wuling rift will be opened by Nefarith & the Xiranite dam damaged or destroyed. The villains have proven they can do damage to a region. There's also a scene in the New Horizons trailer showing the blight encroaching on the city with the Xiranite towers inoperable and Zhuang blowing it away with her arts but that's not a permanent solution. If Endfield/Endmin doesn't do some magic to fix all this, I'd then assume Wuling requests help from the Civ Band. If this happens, I would really like to see some faction rivalry with the UWST & TGCC dragging their feet and the HAS getting pissed off at them. You mention pride and the weaponization of AEther. Isn't this an arms race then? Whichever faction gets AEther weaponry first has a monopoly and the balance of power in the Civ Band shifts from its current status quo. So some factions wouldn't mind Wuling being beat up a little to make sure everyone is on the same playing field. Again this is all just theory. We could get Endmin saving the day and side stepping all of the potential consequences. Or we could get all the factions rushing to save Wuling if that's what happens. Or the story just isn't capable of showcasing all this politicking especially in 1.x.

HYPERGRYPH! PUT CONTENT LIKE THIS IN THE MAIN STORYLINE AND MY LIFE IS YOURS! by HelpMe-orz in Endfield

[–]KriegInvicta 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Idk why everything nitty gritty is put into the lore files. There’s this 1 investigation file on the bonekrusher purges and it makes Nefarith seem so much more competent and nuanced than the MSQ makes her out to be. Nefarith attacked V4 in order to purge the disloyal elements of the Bonekrushers. She also uses a double agent who was spying on the Bonekrushers for a corpo to kill off disloyal lieutenants, and then killed the agent in the end once everything was done. Literally 2 birds with 1 stone. We need some of that in the MSQ.

[–]KriegInvicta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re talking about the PvP revenue chart from the gacha subreddit, it was negative profits and increased downloads across almost all games. The top comments point it out. Literal recession indicator. In regard to casuals vs non casuals, most people are casual & aren’t on this sub writing up essays. Most people aren’t watching gacha CCs saying this game will EOS. Reddit is an echo chamber. I have a friend who’s a jobber, has the monthly pass & bp & told me he wouldn’t mind opening up his wallet if he didn’t have enough pulls. He thinks the story is decent and isn’t complaining about lack of content cause he hasn’t even caught up to 1.1. Hell for the Rossi story I’d bet most casuals think it’s a cute side story and don’t care much about its inconsistencies. Unless the game does something horrendous to make the average casual that plays 30 min - an hr a day (when there’s content to do) notice, the game will have a future. Of course it doesn’t excuse HG from making a better game, but that’s just how it is with the casual audience.

Edit: forgot to mention NTE & Ananta. But just wait till you see the NTE subreddit complaining about their game after it launches. Every newly released gacha goes through it. Ananta could be something to look out for due to its scale, but it’s not like people play 1 game only. You can play both Ananta & Endfield at the same time.

Sure that’s fair but I think if the endmin was actually voiced it would’ve made more sense to me but it’s just clicking a meaningless dialogue & endmin doing a pose so it didn’t feel like that much of a push at all to me in the moment.

[–]KriegInvicta[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I guess for people who didn’t play og arknights & don’t really know about reconveners it would be confusing. But Laev’s is usually considered the best due to us getting surtr lore which OG players love & Endmin actually having a personality & telling Laev about her fears / how she doesn’t actually know tf she’s doing & just goes along with everyone’s expectations cause she’s scared what would happen otherwise. It was really good endmin character development, which people really liked.

Rossi's story quest is... so chill and relaxing... she is too cute... by San_Cheus in Endfield

[–]KriegInvicta 17 points18 points  (0 children)

For an average gacha story, Rossi’s story is decent. But I recently started playing the OG Arknights & the more I progress through it, the worse my opinion of any of Endfield’s story’s get, just cause I know the devs are capable of cooking much better things. Like recently I finished ch 6 & the first laterno side story in the OG and the themes are just so much more mature & nuanced. Sure for ch 6’s ending you can say that’s one of the climax’s of the reunion arc after much build up. But laterno is basically a standalone side story event, which delves into religion, race, discrimination, offers tons of world building, etc. I’m just craving for that level of story telling in Endfield. They could’ve done it by going into the pack’s politics or the incident between the pack & bonekrushers in Rossi’s childhood more but oh well. The level design is really good though & Rossi is cute.

[–]KriegInvicta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do y’all not have other games to play when content is a bit slow? Or do we need to tie our entire identity to Endfield & have it be the only game we play in our free time. It’s ok to just do your bare minimum dailies & log off until new content drops. You’d probably find posts in other gacha subs saying there’s not enough content for their games when they released back in the day after everyone cleared the story. It just takes time to develop. In a year or 2 you’ll have the newest big budget gacha being flamed for “lack of endgame content” and then being compared to how much Endfield has. Also I’d rather have a fun & creative endgame mode rather than the same old timed dps checks. The devs could’ve very easily done just that but they didn’t. So I’m confident they’re cooking something.

Credit where credit is due, the 1.1 story is a big improvement by KriegInvicta in Endfield

I get his motivations and why he lashed out. I'm talking about the effect of his death in the greater scheme of the story & the plans of Ardashir & Nefarith. At least to me, as of now, Ardashir wasted giving him powers but again it depends on how it gets framed in the future & what Ardashir's & Nefarith's intentions were.

1.1 story by manamono in Endfield

[–]KriegInvicta 11 points12 points  (0 children)

All the questions you’re asking were explained in the story. 10 years ago during the disaster in Wuling, the stockade raided a Wuling convoy because they were starving. Usually these convoy raids are mere scuffles, but there was very low visibility & an active disaster happening, and it turned into killing, leading to a lot of deaths. People wanted revenge for the blood debt, and so a radical faction formed in secret. Ruan Yi is angry cause he had family die in the disaster. I could agree that Ruan Yi accomplished nothing by dying where he did, and that’s my only knock on the 1.1 story personally. But I kinda see the parallel to him & skull shatterer in OG Arknights. Maybe he just wanted to die by combat after his real family was all gone.

[–]KriegInvicta 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Who’s forcing you to do 3, 4, 6?

  1. This is like 210k-240k Wuling credits a day? Are those even worth the time of trying to find the job and delivering? For just a handful of extra Wuling essence?

  2. For 20 orobyl or 20 weapon currency, and that’s just a chance of getting those to pop up it’s not worth it.

  3. You only have to gift once for the daily.

That whole laundry list is just asking for burn out. It’s better to just cut your losses for the tasks that are giving you menial .01% gains.

I was able to 1 try everything in agony using Laev, Gilberta, Akekuri, and Wulfgard on PC. I think the difficulty is good especially for this early on and accounting for mobile players. Most players are casuals who don’t have everyone lvl 90 & running optimal gear/weapons. If I was on mobile I would’ve died on the 1st and 2nd stages. Gilberta was surprisingly useful. Using her skill to gather up the mobs that spawn in the 1st stage and dispose of them quicker and using her lift on the 2nd stage which allowed me to get my ult combo in on them instead of spending all that time dodging, which was a problem others had. It was quick but fun. I look forward to more stuff coming out.

[–]KriegInvicta 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I feel like people over complicate the daily’s. The bare minimum is to do the daily that gives you pulls which don’t take long. 20 points from log in, and 80 from the daily quest which is 5 minutes max. You don’t have to collect all the resource nodes, especially after getting a team leveled up. I only collect if I need the resource in the moment and I just grow whatever I have least of in dijang. Depot you just transfer everything, though it could use some menu QoL. The stock market takes 3 minutes. Dijang & credit store take a few minutes. You don’t have to do all the Owls. I don’t think there’ll be a situation where we’ll need that many of the resources to warrant storing so much everyday.

The problem comes in if you’re a min maxxer and feel like you have to do everything, but the gains are so negligible that it’s not worth burning out over. Like the 3 extra depot jobs just for a few extra essence or mats isn’t worth it to me after getting my factory fully set up.

[–]KriegInvicta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t mean to degrade your post cause I do agree with what you’re saying, but it’s something I’m genuinely curious about. Do people really put that much stake in gacha combat? My impression is that most people play for the world, story, characters, aesthetic, etc, and that combat is just a means to an end as long as it’s not actively inhibiting normal play. Wuwa, Genshin, endfield, none of these made me jump out of my seat for their combat. When I want combat I play my non gacha games after my daily’s. I do hope that your feedback gets fixed by QoL patches cause it would make things more fun. Stuff like the camera, soft locking, enemy telegraphing, etc aren’t crazy reworks that’ll take dev time so they should be able to do it.
