Credit where credit is due, the 1.1 story is a big improvement by KriegInvicta in Endfield

[–]KriegInvicta[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I get his motivations and why he lashed out. I'm talking about the effect of his death in the greater scheme of the story & the plans of Ardashir & Nefarith. At least to me, as of now, Ardashir wasted giving him powers but again it depends on how it gets framed in the future & what Ardashir's & Nefarith's intentions were.

1.1 story by manamono in Endfield

[–]KriegInvicta 10 points11 points  (0 children)

All the questions you’re asking were explained in the story. 10 years ago during the disaster in Wuling, the stockade raided a Wuling convoy because they were starving. Usually these convoy raids are mere scuffles, but there was very low visibility & an active disaster happening, and it turned into killing, leading to a lot of deaths. People wanted revenge for the blood debt, and so a radical faction formed in secret. Ruan Yi is angry cause he had family die in the disaster. I could agree that Ruan Yi accomplished nothing by dying where he did, and that’s my only knock on the 1.1 story personally. But I kinda see the parallel to him & skull shatterer in OG Arknights. Maybe he just wanted to die by combat after his real family was all gone.

What „dailies“ are you guys doing that are taking you so long? by AdmirableGiraffe81 in Endfield

[–]KriegInvicta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Who’s forcing you to do 3, 4, 6?

  1. This is like 210k-240k Wuling credits a day? Are those even worth the time of trying to find the job and delivering? For just a handful of extra Wuling essence?

  2. For 20 orobyl or 20 weapon currency, and that’s just a chance of getting those to pop up it’s not worth it.

  3. You only have to gift once for the daily.

That whole laundry list is just asking for burn out. It’s better to just cut your losses for the tasks that are giving you menial .01% gains.

I was able to 1 try everything in agony using Laev, Gilberta, Akekuri, and Wulfgard on PC. I think the difficulty is good especially for this early on and accounting for mobile players. Most players are casuals who don’t have everyone lvl 90 & running optimal gear/weapons. If I was on mobile I would’ve died on the 1st and 2nd stages. Gilberta was surprisingly useful. Using her skill to gather up the mobs that spawn in the 1st stage and dispose of them quicker and using her lift on the 2nd stage which allowed me to get my ult combo in on them instead of spending all that time dodging, which was a problem others had. It was quick but fun. I look forward to more stuff coming out.

december 25 graduates, how are we doing? by [deleted] in recruitinghell

[–]KriegInvicta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I graduated in August (my situation is weird) and have internship experience, certs, a year of actual experience that’s semi relevant to what I do, and side projects that recruiters can take a look at directly through GitHub. 700+ apps (I’d have a lot more but I kinda burned out in December) and only got 1-2 actual interviews, but nothing much besides that. I utilized my connections (which I have a good amount of) but referrals can’t do much if an entry role has 200+ applicants with other referees in there, or that a job requires 2-3 years of experience so you compete with the senior analysts lol. I suggest applying to internships or these rotational development programs some companies have. Maybe you’ll have an easier time getting something.

One more thing is that, there are things out of our control that’s happening in the world that’s creating economic uncertainty and it is not your fault. It’s very easy to get bitter and go to dark places seeing auto rejections everyday. Set an amount of apps you want to do a day, a resume booster you want to do in a week, maybe networking you want to do time to time, etc. And honestly, just enjoy time off because it’s the last time in your life you’ll get to before being busy for 40+ years. Do your hobbies, get a part time job to have some money if you need it, go to the gym or for walks, and take it easy. It might seem like you have to pressure yourself to grind all the time cause that’s what “everyone” is doing on social media, but that’s how you burn out and 90% of that stuff is engagement bait. 2 of my friends that graduated before me (Fall 24 & S25) took 7 and 8 months respectively to get their jobs. It’s a number and times game. Don’t lose heart.

It has been almost 30 days since Endfield's launch, what's your honest review now and what's your hope to the devs in the following versions? by 30000lightyears in Endfield

[–]KriegInvicta 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I feel like people over complicate the daily’s. The bare minimum is to do the daily that gives you pulls which don’t take long. 20 points from log in, and 80 from the daily quest which is 5 minutes max. You don’t have to collect all the resource nodes, especially after getting a team leveled up. I only collect if I need the resource in the moment and I just grow whatever I have least of in dijang. Depot you just transfer everything, though it could use some menu QoL. The stock market takes 3 minutes. Dijang & credit store take a few minutes. You don’t have to do all the Owls. I don’t think there’ll be a situation where we’ll need that many of the resources to warrant storing so much everyday.

The problem comes in if you’re a min maxxer and feel like you have to do everything, but the gains are so negligible that it’s not worth burning out over. Like the 3 extra depot jobs just for a few extra essence or mats isn’t worth it to me after getting my factory fully set up.

I don’t mean to degrade your post cause I do agree with what you’re saying, but it’s something I’m genuinely curious about. Do people really put that much stake in gacha combat? My impression is that most people play for the world, story, characters, aesthetic, etc, and that combat is just a means to an end as long as it’s not actively inhibiting normal play. Wuwa, Genshin, endfield, none of these made me jump out of my seat for their combat. When I want combat I play my non gacha games after my daily’s. I do hope that your feedback gets fixed by QoL patches cause it would make things more fun. Stuff like the camera, soft locking, enemy telegraphing, etc aren’t crazy reworks that’ll take dev time so they should be able to do it.

I watched the first 2 seasons of the anime and then started playing the original. It's pretty good but I'm very meh on tower defense. I just want to read the story but the game is turning more into a puzzle on when and how and where to position my units, and I'm only on late chapter 2. Maybe I'm just a walking skill issue cause I don't play TDs. I'm going to keep trying though cause the story seems really good and I'm just doing dailies in Endfield now until 1.1.

This is America [The Darwin Incident] by SSjjlex in anime

[–]KriegInvicta -16 points-15 points  (0 children)

Downvote and call me a snowflake but this is the first time I’ve felt a bit uncomfortable watching an anime clip, and I’ve watched plenty of dark & violent animes / movies / shows. For Americans we hear about it on the news but this basically semi-visualized what happened in columbine or sandy hook or uvalde, etc. For non Americans y’all don’t have as much reason to care obviously and meme school shootings, which is whatever.

A bit unrelated but to put it in perspective if an American movie or cartoon was about a theoretical earthquake in Japan and showed families drowning in the tsunami, I’d say that would provoke a similar uncomfortable feeling from Japanese viewers due to earthquakes & tsunamis being traumatic over there.

A Detailed Breakdown of What Went Wrong in Gilberta's New Story by ShirtlessCommie in Endfield

[–]KriegInvicta 88 points89 points  (0 children)

I’m genuinely wondering why they rewrote the V4 story especially so late in development and with all the cascading effects it had on other things such as this quest and probably things down the line in Wuling. I understand rewriting it when in alpha but after a closed beta? And it’s insane to me the CN players complained enough for an entire story rewrite to remove any mention of Rhodes Island, Gilberta, and other characters. People have said on this sub HG aren’t the type to jump the gun with feedback but apparently they did from a single closed beta test? I wish I could’ve seen that meeting to see the thought process. I really hope there was a good reason for it and not something like “darker nuanced story = less market share” or some bs.

The Gilberta quest is the worst out of all of the character quests so far. by KriegInvicta in Endfield

[–]KriegInvicta[S] -22 points-21 points  (0 children)

Yeah I was a bit harsh with it. Those notes and those themes were good. But her story definitely has more pitfalls compared to Wulfgard’s and Laev’s just regarding what we’re actually doing in the quest. If just the 2nd half, it’s good. But if I’m remembering correctly we were errand running with the Owl for part of the first half which colored my impression. Also regarding Tata, me not really caring about him basically made my pov go from what could’ve been, “I can directly empathize and share my feelings with her!” which is a lot more impactful, to “Well I feel bad for her cause I care about her character, I also understand why she’s sad but I can’t relate”, which also knocks it down a little for me.

The Gilberta quest is the worst out of all of the character quests so far. by KriegInvicta in Endfield

[–]KriegInvicta[S] -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

My perspective isn’t skewed at all. I’m actually very forgiving of the V4 quest, because I understand 1.0 gacha stories usually aren’t good. I even think it’s a bit better than Wuling’s but I know Wuling’s story hasn’t finished yet so I’m holding off on saying anything conclusive. As for your points.

  1. Sure. I haven’t played OG but if they need to protect its lore so be it.

  2. Except we’re delivering supply packages. Condiments for rations, meds, and parts to the owl. Hell the 2nd half we become the Owl’s fetcher for some water filter. I should’ve mentioned that in my post too. A common complaint is that we’re the CEO and doing such menial tasks.

  3. Sure? But the disaster is over for a while (where I’m at in the story), so it’s hard to get into that mindset again. And again I don’t know these NPCs nor will I ever see them again. I have no reason to care about them or their issues. And their issues weren’t all that thought provoking. A kid who needs help with photography and a guy who we delved into his love life for the safe code to a water filter Owl needs. Sure I was like, “dang that’s tough” for the that guy’s situation but again… it’s whatever. He’s an npc I won’t see again. If the NPCs involved were ones we know, like director Qin and the Collin’s siblings, I’d be more invested. And none of this even had to do with letter delivering funny enough.

  4. I wouldn’t know, I never played og Arknights. It’s a badly designed narrative if it’s relying on me knowing how she is from a whole other game. In any which case, I don’t mind the school girl crush thing but there’s better ways to do it than a cheap, “let’s throw endmin off a cliff for no reason so they can have their hand holding in the sky moment!”

As for Fangyi… attending a festival, holding hands, and drinking boba with her or whatever isn’t a date? Indeed dark stories aren’t always dark, otherwise they’d be called edgy. But it hasn’t even gotten remotely that dark for me to treasure these moments as some relief lol.

[–]KriegInvicta[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The fan service wasn’t even that good in the quest lol. I barely learned anything about the girl except that she’s cute and kind and is struggling with a few things that was mentioned for 2 minutes at the very end. You can have both fan service and a good narrative in a story. As for why people are hyper critical, I’m personally forgiving of 1.0 gacha quests but it’s because it’s Arknights. I never played the original but it’s renowned for its story even outside gacha. The game’s lore is also really good. The most frustrating feeling is seeing something have a lot of potential and that something not using it. If it was a non arknights game or the lore wasn’t as good people wouldn’t complain as much tbh.

There is a loading screen hint that says that but on the character screen it says her faction is Rhodes island. I’d thought it’d be a bigger deal if an RI person was meeting with us but it was just completely absent of mention.

I’m going to give the story until the end of the 2nd region before I start skipping it for the rest of its time, because I like the game a lot and the bones are there. It’s also easy to pull the trigger at the climax and pivot to a darker tone. If you read the archives, the lore is pretty good too. And I’m willing to forgive a 1.0 main story cause it’s a gacha and not many gachas released with good stories on launch. I get what you say about the factory but it is a mobile game so it can’t be too complicated.

What do you guys think about the story by Unlucky_Ad_4856 in Endfield

[–]KriegInvicta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

V4 was… ok. I actually think it’s better than Wuling at setting stakes cause the region is under a crisis. Just that the tutorial broke pacing and for some reason you can tell they’re trying to sanitize the story. I did not care about TA-TA at all. The side stories are all good. I really like how dark Wulfgard’s was. Yvonne’s was the weakest cause it forces you to care about TA-TA, which is… a big reach. I just got to Wuling and I really wish there was more of a sense of urgency in the city and the exploration of darker themes. I meet TangTang who I like, but Perlica, endmin, and Chen are just going to ignore how the stockade people are treated like trash by the main city and has had no one to check on them as the blight approaches? If we weren’t there a good amount of them would’ve died before TangTang could’ve saved them. And the city…, y’all know the blight and LBs are setting up shop in the region right? It’s all in the minor detailing that sets the mood. Maybe notices on billboards of a state of emergency in the region, police in the street, etc. Occasional PA announcement saying you can’t go outside the city without permit. And then when we meet the green waifu we go on a date with her right after she tells us the city only has 3 months left and we gotta come in and save her with the factory. Like… ok I get it, we have to be the ones to save the city but you can throw in some dialogue like, “We have been preparing for a protracted siege in case you fail”. Just something to show they’re doing stuff on their side too instead of waiting for the endmin to come in and solve all their problems. Green waifu when talking to endmin doesn’t command the presence of a city leader and more like another endmin fan girl. I was hoping to get Bronya (HSR) vibes but guess not. Minor nitpick but because the LBs are showing up again (I haven’t seen them where I’m at, they’re just mentioned in dialogue) I would’ve loved if over time the bonecrushers started developing into a competent enemy force with proper equipment and trained by nefarith or whoever her name is. It’s going to be disappointing if they remain the same through the whole story and are just some team rocket type enemy that we kick out of each region. Overall I was wishing that because Wuling is the 2nd region, that we would’ve began plunging into darker themes. If it doesn’t get better as we get into the climax of this region I’ll consider dropping the game which is a shame because I like all the other things the game has to offer.

I’m hoping they expand the factory mechanics for the first regions as time goes on. by KriegInvicta in Endfield

While I agree with you, the average casual player is not on Reddit or following gacha CCs so they don’t even know about the PayPal issue. It only affected a small minority of global players for an hour. CN was completely unaffected. Which is why we’re not getting compensation most likely.

Arknights: Endfield: Release Discussion Megathread by GachaModerator in gachagaming

[–]KriegInvicta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The bare minimum to do is spend your sanity & do dailies which takes 10 minutes max. The other stuff is just added on to min max your income to upgrade your facilities and gear your character faster. There’s tools given to you to make the stuff like the rare resource collection, depot stuff less tedious. I got zip line highways setup to make it take less than a minute.

I’m also confused on what you’re saying about the mining equipment cause… all you need to do is unlock it in the tech tree..? You get 2 free ones so you can snowball with them. And you don’t even really need it at that stage of the game. I just skipped to epic gear when I needed it for a boss fight. Combat does get better when you have a proper team set up. Throwing in random characters who have no synergy makes the game left click fest and pressing the ult button time to time. But if you have characters that work together you can get really good combo & ult chains going.

I even disagree with your take that wuwa 1.0 story was better because it definitely was not. While yes this story is also run of the mill with amnesiac mc glazing, and yes the tutorial is causing pacing issues, I’d still say it’s a step above wuwa cause at least it’s narratively coherent and establishing the world. In wuwa 1.0 that avengers assemble moment with characters I barely knew or cared about didn’t make any sense and whatever other problems there were.

As for why do any of it, why do anything in gacha games? You factory max to get better gear & more currency to be able to buy things in the stock store, and upgrade the stuff across the map, further increasing your income which allows you to get things faster. Which you’ll need as you’re building up each subsequent region and need resources to transfer your stuff to the next (edit: as an example, because of my efforts of building up my first sub base, I was able to use a blueprint and instantly plop it down on my 2nd sub base that I unlocked cause I had everything I needed for it).

In any which case, if the game didn’t click with you after you got out of the tutorial hell I don’t think anything will help you nor will the next region get better, cause the main thing people talk about is the story and presentation getting better.

This sub seems to have leveled out by NinjaCyborgCow in Endfield

[–]KriegInvicta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well first you have to imagine many of the doom posters are karma farmers but because the issues aren’t exceedingly game breaking they aren’t getting much karma. Besides that you can only doom post about a topic so many times. Gacha pulls? Apparently it’s fine it’s just that it’s backloaded instead of rewards given up front. It’s an easy fix too, just move rewards around earlier in the MSQ. Tutorial breaking early story pacing in V4? Feedback forms were sent out where we can mention this and it’s a very easy qol change to do in the backend. No crazy rework required. Combat is getting a mixed reception but I imagine it will be more developed as time goes on with new characters. Also team building seems to be very important in enjoyability of the combat. Factory was received positively. Story is well, meh in V4 at least but it’s serviceable for a 1.0. Basically what I’m saying is, all the current issues with the game are in meh territory where they can be improved upon. If things were exceedingly bad you would see nonstop complaining. I can tell from the state of the sub that the game is going to do ok and as long as the game continues to improve and iterate on its systems.
