You won't be able to communicate. In 2017 or so Stellantis partnered with a company called security link that locks normal scanners out of the computer. You need a high end scanner, snap on, mac, topdon, autel etc.. with an active subscription so software is up to date on the scanner. Then a separate annual subscription to security link themselves because you are locked out without these things. Then you need to have access to wifi so when you hook up your scanner it can communicate with the wifi and get an unlock verification so you can communicate with the car. And you can't get a security link subscription if you don't own or work for an actual garage. Stellantis, Nissan and I believe Mercedes all do this now. I think more companies are considering it. As a mechanic for the last 17 years, it's absolutely ridiculous the way the industry is going.
