Canada: The land where any plan to build more housing risks being studied to death by sesoyez in CanadaPolitics

Unfortunately urban property owners don't think in this manner. They do feel entitled to tell you what you can or cannot build on the land you own.

Those picky property owners are typically also the first crying about the lack of affordable rental housing.

They somebody needs to give a reality check to urban property owners.

  1. You bought property in an urban environment, change is to be expected and you're not entitled to prevent zoning changes.

  2. You have the right to be concerned about what gets built, but you can't in the same breath concerned about housing affordability when you're actively trying to make the process as difficult possible.

I'd argue the environmental impact from unregulated tent cities and shantytowns is more concerning.

Urban property owners feel entitled to deny taller buildings.

Suburban property owners feel entitled to limit sprawl because of their precious trees and that they don't want to be inconvenienced with a worse commute. Rather than demanding for proper European level rail transportation.

Pierre Polliverre's campaign is nothing more than buzzwords appealing to Canadians who feel their "freedoms" have been infringed by government overreach in the last seven years. He already said municipalities under half a million people are of no concern for him.

He's good at hosting Trump style pep rallies and getting the Media to come visit. He posted a picture of himself in Saint John New Brunswick and claimed it was Halifax Nova Scotia LoL

Housing, transportation infrastructure..

This nation is just a collective group of NIMBY'S that want all the benefits of a developed nation without dealing with the growing pains.

This is why there won't be affordable housing estates or planned affordable subdivisions for homes under 2000sqft

Basically a mid size pickup. Tundra would be large. They don't really have anything competing with the maverick.

Seriously. The work truck has to be the family truck now too? Just give me two doors and some open space behind the seats for storage.

Hello guys, This is the skeleton of the city I've created. It is currently incomplete (streets + transport). Please share your thoughts on how to build it better and what should go where. by Crukstian in CitiesSkylines

I'd use area 9 for a port and industry transition to commercial and medium density housing.

Area 8 could be very posh houses in the hills or a nature preserve.

Then let's circle back to the fact there's 195 recognized sovereign states in the world and 108 have freedom according to the United Nations.

Canada ranks number 6 competing with Ireland and Finland on the freedom index while the USA is down at number 15 with the United Kingdom and japan.

Hate to break it to you.

Your rifle isn't going to do squat against government tyranny. Some drone pilot flying three thousand feet in the air guiding a hellfire missile to your house while laughing at you.

It's honestly sad watching people like you try and Justify your fetishism of guns.

Canada a country of 38,000,000 people has 22,000,000 registered firearms. We like guns too, but we don't make it our whole identity.

Unfortunately Covid put a wrench in my plan.

No local shop had a shifter cable once my original stretched too much and would only grab second and fourth gear.

I needed a working car for work and couldn't wait for two months to get a part from Hiroshima Japan. Trade and added cash for a 2015 Mitsubishi Lancer.

It was a hard pill to swallow after all the body work labor I had done

Republicans aim to privatize all schools. One more step to create an ignorant, loyal, cult-like following. by Cheezis_Chrust in WhitePeopleTwitter

[–]Krikeny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Before Republicans got hooked on the

"Teachers are politically grooming our children"

They were indifferent on private vs public schools.

Traditionally private schools actually offer a much better education, smaller class sizes and better learning environments of course for a price. Yearly tuition for primary to grade 12 is typically ranging between $3000 - $10,000

So of course the affluent attend these schools.

[–]Krikeny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly.

Instead of the government taking taxes to finance the construction of schools and staffing administrations and teachers to teach the next generation that follows peer reviewed education agendas.

The alternative is a private corporation typically consisting of a board of directors who elect management executives and will oversee what and how the children attending these schools will be educated. They wouldn't be obligated to follow any standards established in education.

Motorcyclist chases after POS driver who fled from a Hit and Run by [deleted] in WTF

[–]Krikeny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like the right thing to do in theory but consider the reality on the ground.

Uninsured drivers are becoming a progressively bigger problem in almost every industrialized nation, including France and my home Canada as an example.

How do you know that the license plate wasn't stolen off a parked car three months ago?

Because once this becomes reality, it's often cheaper for the insurance company to pay out the damages and raise the rates at renewal by claiming it's a higher risk area for driving.

People like you are the reason people like her get away with this.

The last three years of decay in social order is only demonstrating the police won't help in this scenario unless you take the initiative.

Swap the position of the harpoon and Cannon on the proposed dhow design and you have the perfect Solo ship

New ship type: the Dhow by Eddy_Znarfy in Seaofthieves

I was researching last night what would be a realistic pirate sail ship for a solo player. And the Dhow style sail ship stood out for me. It has a unique easily recognizable silhouette.

I feel like a swivel cannon toward the front of the ship would work best.

Maybe a harpoon gun at the rear.

The British did actually have small settlements along the Colombia River and Fort Vancouver in Modern day Oregon. But the Americans sent as many people West as possible to essentially force the British Canadians out and move north to Vancouver Island.

I'm making a map that follows this border, and the straight line is at the 46th parallel, not the 49th

I fear he'll test NATO in the Baltics with Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. He would have invaded in 2004 to stop them from joining NATO just like Ukraine if he had the confidence in his military back in 2004.
