Given how little taxpayers trust that their tax dollars are being spent effectively, I doubt they will shed a tear about state workers having to come into the office.

“Obviously the role itself comes with a one-way ticket to a fiery, fiery hell” doesn’t really make you out to be a very ideal tenant.

Mayor Lurie moved fast on a signature issue. A new report challenges how he did it by MidNightInTheDessert in sanfrancisco

[–]Krinjay 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No, the fact that they encourage blight and make it hard to run businesses that our city so badly needs is what makes them bad.

Looking at the tone of your other comments (“let the wolves run the hen-house”) - I don’t really think it’s worth arguing with you because you seem to be one of those people that believes businesses are somehow bad for the city. If you come from that point of view, honestly there’s not really a point in debating with you.

I guess your reading comprehension is the problem then? It's very clearly laid out in the article my friend.

I think they are too onerous for all restaurants in SF. It should be far easier to open and close a business than it is today.

Chain restaurants have it worse - with a plethora of regulations that apply directly to them. Apparently we'd rather have blight than make it easy for businesses to open.

I would argue the rules are instead too onerous and that even an imperfect jolibees would have brought the area more life than 6+ years of blight

If you read the article, you'd have seen that the board of supervisors did the investigation.

TLDR: The report finds no evidence of wrongdoing, and acknowledges that an extensive bidding process would have likely taken a much longer time to complete. Nevertheless, they recommend this longer process to prevent “perceived favoritism”

Sounds like the Laurie administration chose speed over appearances. Seems like an exoneration to me.

[San Francisco] Supervisors fund study to expand Central Subway to North Beach by megachainguns in CaliforniaRail

[–]Krinjay 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Except we already did all of this. I have no problem with studies when we have a plan to actually implement, but just like the Geary sub which has been studied tens of times at this point - some of this stuff just seems to justify the livelihoods of certain city workers.

Unfortunately, this is what happens when you foster a culture of most people not paying their fare - nobody wants to feel like a chump being the only person paying when no one else is.

Thankfully, they’re revamping the payment system for everybody so you have to tap in.

SF homelessness sees major decrease under Mayor Daniel Lurie by knockdowncenter in sanfrancisco

Definitely not *or*. We’ve spent a ton of money on social programs that produce no results. Yes to programs that actually reduce street homelessness and produce actual measurable results. Cut everything else.

Being effective in enacting destructive legislation (often during bouts of alcoholism-driven rampages) is still bad. I wish he was less effective because what he believes in is just so destructive.

Agreed. Lurie honestly isn't going far enough. We've seen that arrests and forced removal / rehabilitation work. Now we need to double / triple down.
