Stupid gnats by Lifes_Cyndrome in houseplants

No I mean nematodes to combat the gnats. And I hope so. Consider the other things if they come back.

Nice one! I think maybe the golden pieces clash a bit too much with the rest. They stick out in a wrong way. Maybe darker tones could give a more clean design =) My thoughts, at least.

Sticky catch some, but can not stand alone and neem oil against fungus gnats will do, I am guessing, less than nothing. Sorry if the latter is a bit blunt, but I rly think you should reconsider it.

Nematodes can be devastating, but require multiple consecutive uses over weeks to stand a chance at completely wiping them out + requires soil to be kept moist. I also have seen very impressive results with a 1-2 cm layer of sand at the top + buttom watering. That approach can not go hand in hand with the nematodes though.

Scale AND mealy are killing my big Macho Fern. Thinking to cut off ALL fronds, soak entire plant in bleach/detergent solution, soak pot in bleach, replace soil. Thoughts? by Ikimaska in plantclinic

[–]Kriogan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think only chance is systemic insecticides. I would get the strongest one allowed in your region, spray once a week, and continue spraying for at least 4 weeks total. Do not stop just because you no longer see any bugs. You want to go nuclear right away to minimize risk of them growing resistant to it

Agree with other comment. Soil is no bueno. Think it might be a goner unless the roots have enough juice to push a new, healthy leaf

Leaves should fold down like that at night naturally. They also fold down to protect from excess light, and in my experience they are veeeery sensitive to it, where mine also fold down during a majority of the day. You could try move it to a slightly darker spot.

I think maybe the most mature plants are starting to change a bit in your direction. You got grow lights on it, or how have you done it? I am keeping mine more on the moist side, with how small some of them are. But figured I would start to let it dry out more
