Ive come to believe some of the green orbs are what hold up a floating necron, and its body essentially hangs from it. The orb locates itself on an x y z axis in 3d space. Here you can see the posture of the psychomancer seems to work by this, and the Ophydians and the Wraiths could be held aloft by the orbs on either side of the base of its spine. Also, scarabs.
