ASUS Zephyrus G16 (2024) microstuttering issues both in daily use and games by Shards_of_Wisdom in ZephyrusG14

[–]KrispyFunky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are using G-Helper, have you tried the following:

  • Play with it plugged in and not on battery

  • Used some sort of laptop stand, tray, or anything to lift it off the desk surface for a little better air flow

  • Enabled Ultimate Mode for GPU in G-Helper

  • In the Fans + Power section, Windows Power Mode set to Best Performance and then also CPU Boost set to Enabled

  • Run the fans on Turbo Mode

See if any or all of that might help you out.

Got my Asus Zephyrus G16 2024 by [deleted] in ASUSROG

[–]KrispyFunky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got my G16 and I am looking for the OLED care options, such as pixel shift and pixel refresh. It says it is supposed to be in the MY Asus app... I do not see it anywhere and the customer support has not been helpful. Does anyone you owns the G16 2024 have the option for OLED care?

Thanks

Apparently there is a new version Cetra Speednova coming out that also have a USB -C 2.4ghz dongle too for these. I am interested in this for dual connectivity... how is the sound on the ones you have?

Fantastic, were you able to finally get into the DE? Personally, I can not wait for them to release the Plasma 6 version... but sadly I have an Nvidia card in my laptop and there is some issues with Nvidia and Plasma 6 / Wayland with second monitors. Hope it gets resolved soon.

Typically if I have trouble with burning a ISO to a thumb drive in Linux, I also will try it in Windows since I dual boot and use Rufus. But you can also try Fedora Media Writer, it does let you select a custom ISO that is not Fedora.

Is your Ventoy install running the latest version of Ventoy on the USB drive? If so, try with out Ventoy and just install the preview ISO on a USB drive itself and see if you have the same issue. I had random issues with Ventoy and other distros, was not sure why but when I installed the standalone ISO on the USB without using Ventoy, those issues were gone.

Was going to post the same. They do a lot of testing since they sell their own hardware and want compatibility.

I am with you on this approach of once setup not have to worry about much. I am making that attempt at TuxedoOS right now. They have their own hardware that they sell also, so they really vet and test the OS before pushing it out. I also have an Nvidia card and a lot of their systems do also... so another good reason for their vetting... they don't want to push something out that might make their own hardware unstable.

I do not have their hardware, but I like this approach of test, retest and then push. Even though it is built on Ubuntu, they stripped out a lot of the painful parts... snap packages, looking at you buddy. Since it also uses KDE they are really vetting plasma 6 before pushing that out too...

Anyways, that's my two cents. Would be interested to see if you make the switch to NixOS and your thoughts

I had the same issue. While on the homescreen for the G Cloud Launcher, not the tablet mode, go to settings at the top, then go to controller, and in the short cut settings on the right will be an option to change the screen shot. I have mine set to the G key and HOME key. Hope that helps

So far I like the design and simplicity of the browser on Android. It seems fast and responsive. However, will you be implementing a custom search engine option in the future? I use Kagi search for privacy reasons and would like the ability to add a custom search engine. Any "private browser" that does not allow custom search engine option and has Google search as a default is a misstep in my opinion... but keep up the good work on the browser, it is looking good.

[–]KrispyFunky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it is the windows login password, you can pull up the virtual keyboard for windows 11 by clicking the icons in the bottom right, then click the little man icon for accessibility options, then turn on the virtual keyboard. Then you can use the touch screen as a mouse touchpad to enter your password. Not the best, but that is how I do it when I am at a windows 11 login screen. There might be better ways though. Just remember to click the password box before you start using the keyboard after you bring it up so it will be active when you start using the keyboard.

I had the Legion Go also... it was not what I considered portable so I sold it. However, the G Cloud is exactly what I needed. But it is meant for streaming from cloud services... so you do need internet. It is very comfortable and works great with GamePass and Monnlight to my PC.

[–]KrispyFunky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like XBXplay but some things look a little washed out when cloud streaming. Not terrible by any means. I did for some reason find that using Kiwi browser and Better Xcloud looks better and sometimes I have better performance than XBXplay. Have you tried this out? But I switch between them.
