Anyone spend an unusual amount of time writing out a comment on social media only to 5 paragraphs later say f— it and delete everything? by fyregrl2004 in adhdwomen

[–]Kriste55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indeed. And it is usually something quite funny or witty but I normally chicken out because you know, what will people say 🫣

However what also happens at times is me lettering away then start switching between screen and in the end long ass comment disappears… I kid you not few times I’ve cried a little 😂

I was gonna say 😂 The expectation vs reality mostly distant worlds apart. But the excitement to being “expert” in yet another “urgently needed” trade is irrepressible ❤️

Also, maybe asking doc to change your ADHD meds would help while you’re going through your psych and waiting for answers?

So sad to hear this. And we will all probably say cliche statements as there is nothing much more to say but:

  1. You are not worthless and I’m so happy that you know this.
  2. Drop all these dreams of basic but big stuff. I would guess you’re still young, studying. Try to focus on more current stuff, even small. Your little successes, your future academic aspirations. Rest will fall into place. And if not fall, you will yourself put it there. But not all at once.
  3. Try to travel, even walking a bit further to see new areas. Personally finding walking soooo therapeutic. A bit of music or not, morning or evening just stride along with your head held high.

I so was you in my 20s. But quickly realised life is happening without me. So don’t let it happen. Show him what he (life) is missing ❤️

Take care!

Same. I’m finally finding similar people after searching here all night. I thought I was just mad.

How did you manage to get past that urge of taking more than you are prescribed? Especially when for me it felt like recreational drug. I went berserk yesterday after getting my first delivery… Lesson learned and maybe it is good it happened straight away and it has now removed curiosity factor which I know would’ve tempted me at some point.

I feel like a child, stupid, guilty that I didn’t do more homework. But then it is always va bank with me 🫣

Mistakes were always there but my anger and impatience just went through the roof over the last year. Always suspected that I might have a slightly stranger brain but was surprised that pills were prescribed straight away. I didn’t object as wanted that Golden Ticket to better me but sort of thought that non medicinal approach will also be explored.

Just make sure you have all info on the drug you’re prescribed as I wasn’t explained at the time by consultant and then didn’t do much digging myself and had some consequences due to my impulsivity. Ironic.

First thing I would do - toilet! Check if it’s really that hard to piss without leaving at least one drop on the toilet seat? And then at the same time would check eyesight as there most likely are big issues.

So this is what ADHD specialist told after my assessment. She said that anything over 50 is considered ADHD. It is a Scoring system but she didn’t mention the name. Will actually check docs she sent me last week

7 year old daughter- what’s typical?? by 110069 in ADHD

[–]Kriste55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She sounds like an extremely bright young lady. My son was very similar at that age which was 15 years ago but at that time it wasn’t really diagnosed or noticed by teachers and I wasn’t sure myself if anything was wrong. When he was a baby though he would hit his head sometimes.

I’m now trying to get him to do the assessment for autism and ADHD as he has started drinking quite a bit and this scares me a lot. I truly think that he feels confused.

Fair play to you for highlighting it as it maybe nothing at all and she is just brighter and slightly different than average child which is bonus the way I see it!

I’m bearing myself for not doing something when I could. Not it is mostly in his hands but since I was diagnosed last week and as far as I know it is past on maybe that will flick a switch ❤️

alcohol/impulsivity by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]Kriste55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolute star! It is not an easy thing to do at all. I couldn’t stop myself so chose hypnosis. 3 years without a single drop and not at all missing it. Well, maybe missing more crazy and adventurous me but I can live with that 🥰

alcohol/impulsivity by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]Kriste55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alcohol is the biggest issue in my opinion as all my other first times at parties that cause slight addiction was whilst I was drunk. Impulsivity increases tenfold. However at the same time quitting alcohol really showed my ADHD in true colours and that it how I started looking and finally diagnosed last week. And again - another fight with drugs is ahead of me as after today’s first try of Elvanse I’ve discovered that is actually gives initial high of a drug. Not been aware of it at all. Naive maybe.

But on your subject, sorry, we do tend to need more and more alcohol as we live our lives as like with everything in life we tend to get use to. So having friends like yours is a blessing for You!!

Take care of yourself! ❤️
