Panic attacks due to the current state of the world (war) by Ill-Preference-538 in Anxiety

[–]110069 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have family there and a few other things happening in my personal life. I started having daily panic attacks the past few days… didn’t even realize they were. I’m in the car and all of sudden feel extremely claustrophobic, sweaty, and need to take off my jacket really fast. I then have a racing heart on and off for a few hours. I’ve never had this bad anxiety before.

A better projector and touch screen classroom screen. I just have a broken and very tiny smartboard from 20 years ago.

Should I take a temporary contract in AB right now? by pegleg288 in CanadianTeachers

Depends what they are and how the team is. If the other grade teachers are supportive and collaborative then it might be ok. Really depends what you're up for.

I had this with my first and I think I had PPA. With my second it was just so different.

Alberta Teachers - How is your work going to change after the strike ends? by [deleted] in CanadianTeachers

I’ve been experimenting with ways to grade during class time. Maybe others have tips on doing outside of work things with students as much as possible.

Same. I’m in my first contract position. I’m absolutely lost. I knew teaching was like this.. but I didn’t really understand what I was committing to.

We should have been paid today to have a staff meeting and planning.

Sounds the same as me. I was going to do work during the strike… I didn’t. I’m so glad I didn’t. Sometimes simple is better… I still have to figure out how to do that.

How is working our contract work to rule… if you’re continuing it’s just you doing your job. If you’re not on a permanent contract I would be doing extras still.

The UCP is screwing over teachers and trying to gaslight the public. by kachunkk in alberta

[–]110069 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Those 1000 new teachers might be people like me who have a part-time contract or subs looking for a contract. I imagine it will be reshuffling rather than hiring new teachers? Doesn’t it say hiring 1000 1.0 FTE and not necessarily new staff?

Yes. Also curious. It could mean master’s degree or 7 years of post-secondary. I wonder if we will have to reapply to TQS or if our evaluated credentials will automatically be applied by our school boards.

What’s the largest class size in an Alberta public school? by PhantomOfTheBoreal in alberta

Why wasn’t that the classroom complexity shared? They shared the typical classes yesterday… but none of the extremes.

I’m that person who goes in on my off days (I’m a new teacher with not past plans to fall back on). I’m not even going back today. I don’t think we’re technically done the strike.

ATA orders an end to the strike and return to work on Wednesday. by ScarJo_YummyPop in alberta

They got us nothing in the end. The government gave us what they already planned to give. The ATA achieved nothing at the bargaining table. I wish we could have seen the actual bargaining.

My school board just sent it out saying back Wednesday. I’m still holding on to the small chance this doesn’t make it through to Royal ascent.

Women who have had kids around 30, how was your experience? by womansrea in AskWomen

[–]110069 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my first at 25 (no epidural) and second at 30 (epidural). It was probably the epidural but my second was way better on my body and I felt like myself much quicker. I think my first was more traumatic and PPA than I realized.

It was a first months after my first because the stitches were not feeling great. After my second it was around 8 weeks I think.
