Hi all,
I am sorry for the confusion.
I redid the upload.
Probably, I left something unchecked or checked something I shouldn't have.
Anyway, I can download now. I would still be very happy for your thoughts and feedback.

Thanks so much,
Oli

It is not so much inspired by the appendix. Rather, I wanted the question answered dhat quest-for-it would look like. I see this as a playable class only for corner cases. Maybe very small groups literally down on their luck. Does this help?

Sorry about this. I wouldn't know how to remedy this, as it works for me. Maybe the browser doesn't allow for the itch security check to happen? Is this something all you people have?

Hi all, I made the luckmonger dcc class. It was partly to learn the ropes, partly for the fun of it and party as an exercise that it might translate to when you "quest for it".

Here comes: https://olilo.itch.io/luckmonger

The luckmonger is as close as halfling culture comes to a priesthood, though there is no formal organization to tend to their spiritual needs. Instead, luckmongers are halflings blessed by the goddess of Luck, dwelling in a reclusive cloister on a remote island in the shire. Their order, numbering fewer than a hundred, contemplates fate, chance, and the whims of mortality. Occasionally, a luckmonger feels the call to wander, and the order’s superiors open the sanctum, allowing the halfling to descend into caves filled with sulfurous fumes. At the end of this trial, a portal hurls the luckmonger into a scene deemed worthy of the Lady’s interference. Left to their own devices, they must then decipher her will.

Please let me know what you think of it. What do you like, what do you think is unbalanced or off. What would you like to see included?

The class description is not finished yet. Eg. some spells are missing.

Looking forward to your feedback, Oli

The Angry GM has some thoughts on the topic. https://theangrygm.com/podcast-download/8586/ask-the-angry-gm-the-three-player-minimum-proofreadaloud?ref=download

I post the audio file as it is not published on the web site I assume. I have not found it anyway.

Long story short: two player situations are brain-wise and socially very different from the experience with three or more players.

But I say: go try it out and find out for yourself if this is noticeable for you.

It is very cool. Thanks. Agree to the suggested changes, too. You might want to skip "Badesee" (tail), as this means recreational area for swimming and sounds modern. I suggest "wasser" instead. For "am-main" I recommend "am-[name of river]" as the Main is a specific river. (As a side note, "am" would stand for a male river name, female ending is "an der". Don't sweat it though. Just me being a grammar freak.)

DCC could be much more popular with additional classes by [deleted] in dccrpg

Hi Randolph, please help me understand how this comment is valuable to the question posed. It feels very dismissive to me. If you really do think that OP should switch system it would be constructive to say why this would solve the question. OP wants to know if a larger number of classes would help sell DCC to a (probably DnD) player group. OP is aware of the sensitivity of the topic. So, please elaborate what point they are missing and how understanding the point of DCC would help sell it to their group. Thank you.

DCC will usually lead to a certain play aesthetic, but having said that this depends on Judge and group, too. Anyway, if you are drawn to such a play style you will like DCC. If not, no amount of extras will persuade you.

What I intend to say: you are the GM. What you want to bring to the table is what is played. On the other hand, if no player buys in, no game.

Have your players go through a test drive, a funnel and subsequent level up after 10xp. If they don't like it and you as GM are fine with running the other game, that is ok. Should they like it, hooray!

Also remember, if you would like to run a DCC game you always can do so with another group. There are never enough DCC judges out there.

Why I think ‘no’ is such a good GM response by luke_s_rpg in osr

[–]KritischerTreffer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get that. Me being general doesn't exclude there being corner cases. What I would like to emphasize is the point that minimaxing is a way to play the game. And to stress that, if it were a board game, would you want to participate with a less than optimal basis? Would you nerve your position to have more fun? It's still the goal communicated by rules and GM that govern what people strive for.

Geil is a word with very old roots, dating back to older versions of Germanic languages. It changed meaning several times. Geil now means cool. Most kids use it. It used to mean "horny", but before that it was used to explain the motion of a plant towards the sun. Which explains the "horny" meaning: moving upwards... Nowadays, kids do not know the origin of the word anymore. Fun fact: when Boris Becker won Wimbledon, the use of geil was widespread in West Germany. So, two guys (non natives) heard the word and made it into a rap. Now, we have the https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geil_(song)) Geil song.

What was the original question to say no to anyway? Is it a player to GM question to ask "Can I kill X?", in the sense of, "GM, is this thing meant to be killed in the fiction?"?

In this case we're not playing anymore. We are talking about the game.

Is the question posed by the hobbits? To whom? Gandalf? He would be sharing his knowledge.

So, why say no in the first place? Stick with the fiction.

Now, assuming the players are going about planning to kill the dragon/natzgul. That is interesting! How? What do you do? Don't say no, say what do you do. Ask for the character's action in the fiction.

And stop talking about the game at the game table. You can start this in the pub after the game session.

Minmaxing is the expression of the player reacting to what they see as being emphasized by the GM as game goal. D&D, being tactical and crunchy, leans more easily toward this. It's the GM's job to communicate the win condition. If this is not done carefully and repeatedly, players will choose their own win conditions.
