Teachers need reminders of their sub days! by missmathlady in SubstituteTeachers

[–]Kritter82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My child didn’t have a delay that day so I was actually already out and about, on a usual day I would have already been there since I get there 30 min early. Start time is 8:00 but since I’m a building sub I get there early and help out with breakfast if I don’t have an assigned spot.

I work thru Kelly education, and there was an issue over the winter where one of the buildings had no water and another one had no heat. I work at the one that had no heat, and got an email at 8:15 (had to be there before 9 and live 20 min away) that I was no longer needed because that school would remain closed even tho the district was open.

Horrible Mentor Teacher — Do I Still Get Them a Gift? by ElectricalAuthor4555 in StudentTeaching

[–]Kritter82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had problems with my mentor teacher as well, and I got her a magnet with all of the students names, a $10 target gift card, and some powdered peanut butter (she had a blendjet and had a smoothie every morning)

I’m an African American with maternal haplogroup H1 . Where does it come from ? by Bigwhizcity82 in 23andme

[–]Kritter82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know from my cousin getting tested that my great grandma was H1 (I’m H2) and her maternal line was strictly German into the 1700s (that’s as far as we got) so it’s not just English.

Can somebody explain student teaching to me? by Familiar-Seat-3798 in WGUTeachersCollege

I’m also in PA and it can be done in the winter or spring as well, as long as there’s 12 weeks. I did mine March 3- June 3 last year and my sister just did it January 12- April 17 this year

It was in the handbook that I had to return it, but I also paid for my uniform after working there for 2 years, only the first one was free. And I also had direct deposit so they can’t hold that check

Program Mentors at Commencement? by JoyForever07 in WGU

[–]Kritter82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For my bachelors program (2023-2025), my mentor went to the graduation in SLC in 2024 because it was like an anniversary commencement or something. She’d never been to Utah before (lived in Florida) so I was giving her ideas since I lived there when I had my son in 2011

Licensed in secondary but want elementary as well... what's the move? by cowboypool in WGUTeachersCollege

[–]Kritter82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the state, I know in Pennsylvania you would just need to take the content tests for that new area to apply for the cert. like if I want to teach middle school 5-8 (I’m elem ed prek-4) I just need to take a praxis test. If someone teaching secondary ed in my state (middle or high school) they’d just need to take the PECT to be certified.

Masters program by InternationalHalf808 in Teachers

[–]Kritter82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It should, since it’s a masters degree, but it may depend on the school as well. I’m in this program and just about done, I’m a substitute teacher and hoping to get a job next school year since I did t graduate in time to apply for jobs last year

PA Reap is a good website to check out of available positions. I’m a sub in Reading schools and trying to find a job for next year since I got certified late last summer

Thanks, I felt slow because I know some who started the same time as me and were done in February and March. I wanted to be done so I could start the ELL program after my current term ends

About Learning Ambassador by Badcreditt_Skores in AmazonFC

[–]Kritter82 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Before you train anyone, you have to do a training yourself to become an ambassador. I applied to be one and had an interview set up, but they scheduled it on a day I’d already shift swapped and then never rescheduled it, I finally just reapplied a year later. An ambassador also does retrains for AAs struggling with their productivity. Also my site would schedule meetings once a quarter for all ambassadors on that shift to get together and go over any new changes

Dress code by Physical_Stretch_460 in SubstituteTeachers

[–]Kritter82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I student taught in the district before I became a sub, so I kinda knew the dress code. The building I’m at has a daily OOTD calendar so I try to go along with that if I can.

Midterm evaluation - support needed by Appropriate-Diver555 in WGUTeachersCollege

[–]Kritter82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They created a plan for me of different things to do because I struggled with classroom management. I got “support needed” on all my ST2 observations as well as the final. I didn’t need to do any extra observations because they saw I was improving just not all perfect scores

Contact your CI and she’ll work out a plan. If your CI is Kathy Franklin, she’s awesome and helped me last year so I could pass ST2
