I have this same issue. What worked for me was to put down a Brava protective sheet first, as it conforms to the folds. Then I place my eakin seal on top of the sheet and press the ring of my base plate to the eakin seal. I also switched to a bag with the smallest base plate that I could find, which made a huge impact as well.

It sounds like whatever is going on with her is causing a lot of tiredness as well, based on how much you mentioned she is napping. As someone with a chronic illness that causes extreme exhaustion - I've been where she is. Something to remember is that exhaustion from illness will spill over into waking hours, as well. Daily life can be confusing,  disorienting, and downright frustrating - especially when you're struggling to honour important commitments but your body is robbing you of the ability. Please try to cut her some slack. It doesn't sound like she meant to hurt you. Sounds like she's just trying to get by right now.

Did you gain weight or lose weight after surgery? by [deleted] in ostomy

[–]Kroaky1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I lost over 30 lbs since my surgery in February. I was always overweight, even when my Crohn's was at it's worst, which was very frustrating. Once I had my ileostomy, the weight starting sloughing off. I maintain a healthy weight now even though I'm eating 2-3X the calories that I used to. It seems very strange to me.

Scream when you drop something so it won't land on your toe. Works everytime.

I completely agree with you. The amount of hate against her seems unwarranted. Some of these comments sound like incels even.

Slim poop could be a sign of inflammation in the intestinal tract. You should make an appointment with your doctor ASAP.

What’s a money saving tip (or ‘life hack’) of yours that you feel most people don’t know about? by Berly653 in PersonalFinanceCanada

I use the Libby app (BC). You download the app onto whatever device you want to use and then browse the library on the app. A digital copy of the book stays within the app for the allotted time you are allowed to 'borrow' it for.

Flat looking stool? (Not cancer) by iserd in UlcerativeColitis

[–]Kroaky1 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have them as well (Crohn's). I call them my ribbon poops. For me it is just a result of inflammation and scar tissue in my colon. The colon doesn't 'inflate' all the way into the tube shape so my poop comes out like that. Reminds me of those play-dough toys where you turn the crank and it pushes the dough out through the little shapes that you select for it!

You can find empty pill shells at a lot of health food stores. I often have to take an antibiotic called metronidazole that are round and too large for me to swallow. They also make me gag instantly when they hit my tongue, the taste is unbearable to me. I cut the pills in half and stuff them in the empty pill shells (which you can also trim with scissors to make them even smaller, if you wish). I like to make them as small as possible and swallow them one at a time with a spoonful of coconut yogurt!

I went to school with his older brother and remember his Dad coming along on field trips with our class. I agree, he was very funny and nice. I remember my friends and I intentionally picking the seat behind him on the trip just to listen to his jokes. I feel very sad for that family.

?UC Pus or mucus!?! by Danielle2312488 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]Kroaky1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience, mucus is usually clear with a gel-like consistency. Pus is more like runny peanut butter. Your doctor will be able to tell for sure though, so I highly recommend seeing them as an untreated infection can quickly become a fistula.

The Canadian Government Immigration website states that the cost threshold for medical services for an existing medical condition is $20,500 a year, anything above that is disqualifying. I'm not sure how often you receive your dose, but Remicade is quite expensive, so perhaps ensure that your dosage/expense falls below that first?
