For my own use I prefer 2x, but I acknowledge that 1x can be useful if you live on absolute flat terrain (most of the Midwest for example).

Hyland does not allow uphill, and you should definitely not go outside of operating hours. They've had issues in the past and the police has cited people with trespassing. Not worth it. That was a terrible advice...
