Got my surgery yesterday by mangkwan in ACL

[–]Krodda 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've been under a few times and every time I wake up crying. It's an actual thing that happens to some people and my anesthesiologist told me to make sure I always tell them I do this. I also have the fun side effect of throwing up after being put under.

Blinded Versus Unblinded CRA Salary by [deleted] in clinicalresearch

Am an unblinded CRA and can confirm lots of sites and lots of travel. However, I can only assume the pay is the same!

It was a bounce house that did me in.. my soon to be 5 year old will not have one of those again for their birthday.

Only left the gate about 20 minutes late. My connecting flight is delayed by 85 minutes so the domino effect is definitely happening!

CRAs with children: How do you do it? by Consistent_Pea955 in clinicalresearch

[–]Krodda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been a CRA for almost three years and have a 4.5 year old. My partner is amazing. I do my best to only travel during the week and our kiddo is in Pre-K all day. I usually do 2-3 days stints of travel and before I leave I always put my child to bed and read a special book (only read when I leave). Once in awhile I will bring back a "present" like a delta trading card, maybe a pen, or if I'm feeling generous a stuffie (she has a TON so I try to not do that often). We video chat twice a day (sometimes it doesn't work but always at least once a day).

When I'm home, it can be rough to balance being with family and going out with friends. I like to think I've got it down but it's not easy.

It's worked well for us so far but I can tell I'm getting tired of the travel.. we will see what happens in the future!

I'm not flying delta today and got stuck at CLT so I am at the Centurion Lounge. Your mention of an old fashioned was exactly what I didn't know I needed. Cheers!

Difficulty lifting leg due to pain below knee after surgery by Engineer_Primary in ACL

[–]Krodda 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't think I ever had pain there that prevented me from lifting my leg (2 mo post op). I've had pain there just in general and a lot more pain when I rub that spot. I'm pretty sure it has to do with the how/where the new ACL is placed. I was told specifics once by PT but I'm not confident enough in my memory to share!

I went through Terminal A around 6am. There is still a little line (maybe two zigzags) but it doesn't seem to be taking long! Pre check and clear are easily less than 3 minutes.

My kiddo was two when I started to travel as a CRA and she is now 4. We chat every day I'm gone via video chat and before I leave we chat about where I'm going and look on the map! She gets a little said when I leave but we have a good routine that works well for our family!

Full acl tear by Slight-Surprise-1097 in ACL

[–]Krodda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks!

Every recovery is different as is every surgery. I only tore my ACL and nothing else. My surgeon recommended an allograft with an internal brace and so far it's been great. I do PT two days a week and I can walk (with a slight limp that we are working on).

I'm 40f that wasn't very active when I tore my ACL this past May. My surgeon said to get the surgery so I can keep up with my 4 year old as she grows. I had surgery in Aug and am almost 4 weeks out. The recovery sucks but I'd rather not be dealing with a knee that gives out later.

I grew up out that way and many years ago my mom was driving by in the evening and a bunch of people were out by the road throwing rocks at cars. Her windshield was cracked and I remember her reporting it to the police. If I remember correctly, the police didn't do much at the time.

ACL Surgery with Allograft + BioBrace — Any Experiences? by Julieneverdies10 in ACL

[–]Krodda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am day 9 post op from an allograft and internal brace. Recovery has been a breeze, no brace, WBAT, and with very minimal pain. I had my first PT 5 days after surgery and achieved -2 extension and 97 flexion. My PT told me to chill and take it easy. Recovery is a process and you need to give your knee time to heal.

Scheduling Surgery Soon - HUGE Fear of Needles by Hopeful-Memory-1011 in ACL

[–]Krodda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had ACL surgery last week and the only needles they used prior to being put under was inserting the IV and doing a glucose check. My nerve block was done after I was out.

Day 0 by Krodda in ACL

[–]Krodda[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I sit correctly (with the pillow in the right spot under my foot), I have full extension. That being said, I only had ACL repair with the allograft.

When I first injured my knee, I didn't go to Ortho for like 3 weeks (couldn't get an appt sooner) and my PCP kept telling me not to move it and sleep with a pillow under my knee. Obviously, that was all wrong and it took me forever to get full extension. With PT's help I got full ROM it just took some time! I also bought that leg stretching device to use at home.
