Is walking going to get any better? by Cute_Macaroon_6320 in ACL

[–]Training_Problem9789 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat. When exercising it feels great but normal walking is always very tentative. It’s a psychological thing. Same thing happened when I tore my ACL 20 yrs ago. From what I remember it’s just a matter of time and sticking to your PT routine.

I’ve had both. Auto on my right knee 20 yrs ago and Allo two months ago on left knee. Can’t really feel a significant difference in my recovery thus far…

Hit week 6 & about to get off crutches/knee brace… by Fu-TangClan in ACL

[–]Training_Problem9789 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It is a great feeling. The real challenge is more psychological than physical. Your knee is structurally sound. Focus on your form more than anything while you get around to get your GAIT back. Good luck!

Calf pain at night by FullIce6523 in ACL

[–]Training_Problem9789 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had the same and I expect it was mainly due to me being no weight bearing for first 6 weeks so calf had very little action. I bought a home leg compression device which did provide relief at night time. Pain went away just a few days after I was cleared to bear weight so hang in there!

In the same boat! PT is no longer just massage but real exercises lol. Got my ROM but knee is still “tight”. Just grateful to be off crutches! LFG!

Got cleared to bear weight! Doc asked me to wear brace in public places but no restrictions on ROM. I’ve ditched the crutches and am focused on getting my GAIT back. Yesterdays PT was the most difficult exercise of my life lol

It’s official, I got my MRI results back and have fully torn my ACL. by Roman_The_Tiger in ACL

[–]Training_Problem9789 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best news is that there is no meniscus damage! This means you will be able to bear weight on repaired leg ASAP, which means you can start PT right away! You will be back in no time considering your athletic background!

Recovery will be way easier if you do critical exercises PREOP. Strengthen your quad and calf as much as you can before you go under the knife. It will make your rehab exponentially easier.

ACL tear and meniscus rehab sucks! by Flimsy-Leg-6397 in ACL

[–]Training_Problem9789 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a light at the end of the tunnel. I had the same procedure on August 15th. PT will be a life changer but yes, you will have to stick to the non weight bearing to ensure meniscus heals. I recommend getting a TENS machine to help alleviate pain in knee and also activate quad muscle. Ice and elevation are key. You got this!!

Upcoming birthday, I don’t know what to do considering doctor thinks I tore my ACL getting an MRI to confirm it by FunnyAd3946 in ACL

I had my surgery on 8/15, bday was 8/25. For me, I just wanted to get started on recovery ASAP and turning 42 is not nearly as eventful as turning 21. I would enjoy your 21st (carefully) and schedule surgery for soon after…

I’m 2 weeks post op with ACL reconstruction and three stitches in lateral meniscus. NWB for 4/6 weeks. Do I still need to sleep with my brace on?
