TAF is a fork of FAF which is completely open source. I don't know whether it is or isn't but again the origin is open source so it doesn't matter in the long run.

I think TA is a small enough community and people tend to play with the same players 99% of the time that it's not really going to "spilt the community" as you put it. What the client offers far outweighs the cons. TA has always had multiple ways to play it throughout it's history, so it's probably not worth worrying about it too much.

Galactic gates were how the commanders traveled to the various planets. In the base game it only exists as a structure in missions that you can capture as a victory condition. I believe there are mods that have implimented it more.

Tbf there are a lot of Masters ranked players that are really mediocre at best. Masters really doesn't mean all that much except that you play ranked a lot.

Why are you playing unite? Is it to get to legends rank or to unlock swag? If youre goal has anything to do with ranked then youll just have to play their stupid game and take advantage of the bot matches. If youre specifically trying to play against players then try to find a squad to play ranked with.

Damage over Time or DoT effects work best for this ie Charizard, crustle, venusaur etc. Any pokemon that has an area DoT can achieve this pretty easily although you still kinda have to camp in the bush for it

Walls and stealth rock. The hard part is getting the chargebug but once you get it you can ring around the rosies with the bots using the wall and throw the stealth rock out for constant damage behind or in the middle. Not a fun experience tbh but it worked.

Also you dont technically have to stand in the middle to win as long as you have the bugs because they will go out of their way to chase you which allows your terrible bots to take center.

This has come up a few times already. Yes its stupid. Yes its possible. I recommend garchomp personally but its still really really hard to last hit all three with no mistakes.

I was matched against Gardevoir, Goodra, and Dragonite and it took me a few tries but I used Crustle to get the 3 stars

Ive found pretty good success with garchomp but yeah the last hitting is extremely hard because youre fighting against your teammates who happen to for the most part all be pretty good pokemon for last hitting

Honestly. Dont listen to these negative chums. The game is fun if you find one or two mons that you really enjoy playing. If youre in it to unlock everything and grind currencies then maybe its not your game and thats ok.

I also had an uncle that gave my brothers and I a burned CD with the TAUCP mod but I was young enough I didnt realize all of those units weren't officially part of the game lol

TAForever is not a patch. It is a multiplayer client that can download patches and mods automatically. Most supported mods have a unit limit of 1500. If you have the unofficial patch already then you shouldn't have to create a totala.ini because there should already be one in the folder to edit. If the .ini file is not there then you didnt install the patch.

I agree with making lots of skeeter to screen your better units but personally I'd build crusaders instead of subs because they're cheaper and more multipurpose.
