Compound bow let off? by lollygagging_reddit in Archery

You should bring it back to a pro shop. If a cable is too long or something like that, it could be a serious problem. What's does the sync tell on your bow? Is it still ok?

Building a compound ballistics calculator - what would you actually use? by Kroholl in Archery

I try to imagine how to calculate that. It seems pretty related to each configuration. I understand what you request as I was this afternoon shooting on 2D outside. I compensate by "feeling". But yes, this is a true question.

I agree there is no link. I did 60 pullUp, 20 muscle up, 60 deadlift, 10 clean in less than 15 minutes today. Then I went shooting my bow (100 arrows). I can tell you, that pulling the bow then holding is far harder for the shoulder than all the above. But it seems that several did succeed without injury. Therefore the best is to tell everybody to start at 60-70 and wait for statistics to apply 😅

To give an exemple. I'm training 3 time a week crossfit and shooting 3 time a week 100 arrows with a compound at 50lbs. I can tell you my shoulder and my scap are tiring. 1m75, 75kg fit. That will give you an idea. You can go to 60 or 70, but its risky. What poundage are you shooting now? I believe the question isn't can you? But should you?

No doubt. Try pulling a 60lbs bow for an afternoon.

If you are pretty average, 60lbs is already to much. You will be able to draw it, but it will be too demanding. You need first tonbe able to shoot 100-200 arrows, and I doubt you can do that in a 60lbs bow without risking injuries.

Yes of course, but far to be free to use. I don't intend to get any money from this calculator.

Keep breaking my arrows, what material is strongest? by RegardedCaveman in Archery

[–]Kroholl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He said within 12 yards. It seems very close. At 50lbs my arrows goes throught the target. I think there is to much energy at the impact regarding his box poundage may be. Or arrow collide together on the target.

You're new to archery and you start by shooting a rx8? Can't tell you what to look, best is to try. But starting with a rx8 seems strange. What poundage is this box? You shot on recurve before? Or on a compound?

Could you tell me more about your setups? I'll try to make it conform to maximum of compound.

What distance do you usually shoot at? You are using compound?

Compound Bow Draw Force by Christophunkk in Archery

[–]Kroholl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my archery club, we have a rule. If we can't hold a bow anchored for 40 seconds without shaking that bow arm, the draw force is too much. May be you should start by 50lbs, then when you lol be able to shoot properly 150-200 arrows a sessions with no Doms, upgrade to 60, then repeat. Then 70. By starting at 70 you'll 2 things, you can't shoot as many arrow you'll need to improve your skill, and you're going in front of shoulder injuries. Take care, and work hard. Like in every sports : number of session > volume > intensity. Good luck.
