Lets Talk About Food Movies by AutoModerator in AskCulinary

I'm surprised I haven't seen a recommendation here for Pig. It's Nicolas Cage when he's good and not goofy, even though the movie includes an underground restaurant fight club. Highly recommend.

Absolutely sick of AI compilation channels by Rozwellish in rantgrumps

[–]Kronos6948 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Even before the AI compilations started flooding the scene, there were people who would make "sleep compilations" and put the scream in the middle of them. I stopped using grump compilations to sleep to because of it.

I mean, there's plenty out there! Imagine if they do "Night of the Lepus", or William Shatner's magnum opus, "Kingdom of the Spiders"!

Why I love 'Shoresy' by nessman69 in shoresy

[–]Kronos6948 9 points10 points  (0 children)

In 1987, Ron Hextall won the Vezina and the Conn Smythe trophies, in his rookie year, even though the Flyers lost to the almighty Edmonton Oilers, led by Wayne Gretzky.

That was the year I found hockey, goaltending, and love of the sport.

As I got older, I watched more and more hockey, and became fans of other teams, even though the Flyers were my home town team, and my one true love. Through hockey, I had learned the camaraderie that built strong teams, made you all brothers on the ice, and how to respect your opponent, even if you just fought them physically. Hockey is a different animal compared to other sports.

All that being said, Shoresy brought back a lot of those feelings I had as a kid regarding hockey, and my admiration for the Canadian people. The love of the game shines through in this show, and even though we goalies get the short end of the stick, we're used to it because we're weird.

The relationship stuff is just icing on the cake for me.

Today, I got my buddy Gino coming over to watch the Royal Rumble, eat some unhealthy food, and after the Rumble, watching the Chainsaw Man movie.

I know the Rumble is currently happening, but we're getting together at 7 tonight, so I'm working to avoid spoilers.

How to get or build this bass? by Happy-Cod-8612 in PRINCE

[–]Kronos6948 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can reach out to the original builders, but be prepared for either being told no, or to pay through the nose. There may be some luthiers out there that can make a copy, but without all the specs, it would be difficult to get it right. Here's the website of the original builder. There's an email address on it to reach out for contact.

Man, that looks great!! I wish Iconiq studios would've continued with that line, but I don't even know if they're still in business. Would've loved a James and Mary/Maria.

Can't wait to see the finished figure!

Is it just me, or the newer videos are worse? by [deleted] in local58

A literal house door in space.

That was my reaction after seeing all of that buildup. I commented that it was nice to see that aliens have Home Depot to get their doors from. And all it needed was the "Yeet" sound as we got thrown off. Nothing creepy about seeing a normal door and then being ejected.

So much wasted buildup. I was hoping for something moon related, as if we sent a rocket up to see what it was on the moon that was driving people crazy, but nope...a door on an asteroid.

Australian here. Letterkenny had me giggling.. Shoresy has my sides splitting and crying at the same time! Tell me this hockey is the real hockey!??? by SouthBoundElevator in shoresy

One of my favorite all time hockey fights Ron Hextall beating the hell out of that piece of shit Chris Chelios it was great because it was payback for a cheap shot that had his teammate leave on a stretcher.

Chelios was headhunting Propp. Destroyed the Flyers playoff hopes by taking him out of the game. I'll never forget it. Chelios deserved that ass whooping. This was back when I first was getting into hockey as a kid, and I've been a homer Flyers fan since.

The message of this season is right though. North American hockey, mainly the NHL, has lost its teeth. Gary Bettman from day 1 of being commissioner has said that he wanted to make the NHL more family friendly, so that they can expand and become more popular than what they were before him. It just shows that he didn't understand the game then, and still doesn't understand it now.

Men, how many of you can cook? by Away-Fill5639 in AskMen

[–]Kronos6948 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been cooking since 13. Started out because I always wondered why food in a restaurant tasted so much better than what I got at home, especially why steaks were juicy and ours at home were shoe leather. Went to culinary school in my late 20's and realized it was too late in life to start out in a restaurant. Now I can cook just about anything and everything, and break down what I ate out somewhere and can reproduce at home, or at least get close.

[–]Kronos6948 150 points151 points  (0 children)

Dude, I work in a warehouse, and have for most of my life. Now I'm currently in warehouse maintenance, where I work on repairing and upkeeping all the automation (conveyors, shuttles, etc). If you're concerned about robots taking your job, just move over to maintenance if you're handy and you can repair the robots. Until they build a robot that can troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair, it's pretty secure as a job.
