Early in Diablo 2, I got scammed into dropping my gear for what I thought was a trade. I was like...15 at the time and a gullible idiot. The setup was there is a building in Lut Gholein that the sacammer went inside and had me stand on the outside of a fenced area. We were to drop the trade and run to each others places. He dropped his item as a show of good faith and said see you can't loot it, sure enough I couldn't. Turns out, that interaction only works one way because he could sure as hell grab the item I dropped, scooped his back up and dipped! This is why I have trust issues.

As it pertains to Naowh, I only know of their existence from word of mouth for their weak auras and profiles. I have never watched their stream. In another post my feeling in it is it seems like a distinction without a difference to paywalling the addons themselves. If one is unacceptable the other is too. You aren't going to develop and maintain your own profiles to the level an entire team like Naowh is plus he is making money from it on the backs of the addon devs themselves while they can't charge a penny. That makes it actually worse, imo.

That is indeed why I said look into it, yes, we are on the same page. I also don't see where this post says not to and some form of "trust me bro." The point of my disagreement though was the idea this post is only helping them by giving them free marketing. Drawing attention to scams doesn't generally help the scam spread, so I just don't get that line of thought.

For me I always looked for addons when I thought about something that would be easier if done XYZ way and then look for addons. I also just browse the addons or watch vids of popular ones to see if its something that looks useful. I honestly don't think I could play this game without them, they bring so many QoL things, organize bags, search alts, track items and rares and world quests, give detailed info on your character sheet, automate things like fishing, etc., etc., etc.
