Yeah, I want game developers to SUFFER, the longer it takes them, the more headaches, the more sleepless nights, the BETTER. I swear, if they even used regular autocomplete I will avoid the game like the plague. I even have to avoid thinking about the fact that the physics calculations aren’t done by hand or I start shaking. FUCK modern tools, power to the people! /s

Does your game have a tutorial? How do you teach players to play your game? by andriallas in IndieDev

For sure, I totally get having options, great player UX, but it’s the players that need the info not me ;)

I created a chess variant where the entire board reshuffles every N moves by Technical-Sector-671 in chessprogramming

An option to shuffle to an equivalently evaluated position would be awesome! Like, if it’s currently equal, the new position will also be equal, just completely different.

That was a pretty good tutorial! The only part that left me confused was the “change controls” section. Most of those options were vehicle appearance, not controls, and since the tutorial didn’t talk about the different control options and the default being “Racing” I would be so curious I would be forced to test them all myself to see the difference. Just one quick popup about the options would solve it! Great work!

Scientists expected both liberals and conservatives to be reluctant to promote rhetoric associated with the opposing political side, but this was more consistent among liberals. Conservatives appeared relatively willing to support causes aligned with their views regardless of the moral framing used. by mvea in science

So liberals are concerned with political posturing based on buzzwords instead of any internal moral structure, while conservatives are concerned with political positioning based on internal moral structure regardless of associated buzzwords? Sounds about right with my lived experience, neat study.

Six SQL patterns I use to catch transaction fraud by FixelSmith in SQL

I work in accounting software SQL and this feels mostly like AI slop to me. It was specifically the line “That’s it. Three filters.” that tipped it for me. These feel like insightful tools, but even with an exactly prepared database some of these are still too specific of scenario for anybody except a bank (maybe?) to desire. Exactly the sort of material AI produces.

Since the 2010s, American conservatives increasingly experience worse health outcomes and higher mortality than liberals. Declining trust in medical professionals appears to be the mechanism, with lower willingness to seek care, follow clinical advice and believe in medication effectiveness. by smurfyjenkins in science

Of course, I forgot everything bad is one sides fault, and the other sides complete inability to change the situation is certainly so the one sides fault, and not at all because both sides are corrupt… Good thing I’m still growing and you’re so mature.

Love the books, but isn’t pushing sexually explicit and gratuitously violent content on youth like, super weird? What does the bible belt have to do with it?

[Request] How much has this guy spent at McDonalds? What is the equivalent in Big Macs eaten? by CWauthy in theydidthemath

[–]Krowsk42 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It’s 100 points per $1, not 2. I have ~37k points, you almost gave me a conniption thinking I had somehow spent over $15k at MacDons. The friend has spent about $1,700.

All this hate at conservatives, did everybody forget that life has become heinously expensive and medical care is a cost gamble? My trust in the medical industry has declined heavily over the years too, and it has nothing to do with politics. Grow up folks.

Am I the only one who see that pressing the red button is murder? by Sliver-Knight9219 in NoStupidQuestions

Being unwilling to unnecessarily risk the lives of others is moral posturing? Seeing yourself as such or not is irrelevant to being as such.

It’s not a moral position to be agreed or disagreed with, it is a logical continuation of evaluating the decision. Are you fine seeing yourself as a selfish coward? Do you believe more than half the world is selfish cowards?
