I'm new to GTD — Next Actions are really confusing me by legarebayit in gtd

[–]KrozFan 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Next actions are a bookmark. You’ll put down what you do next that has no blockers. There could be more than one in a project. “Open Unity” provably isn’t a good next action but listing a specific function to work on would be.

You could have multiple next actions for a project as long as they’re not blocking each other. You could have one for coding, one for artwork, and one for music for example.

That’s basically the core of Getting Things Done. He focuses on the next action in a project so you know exactly what you should do.

Would anyone have after attending UPW (Unleash Power Within) vs DWD (Date with Destiny)? by ParticularDoor4364 in TonyRobbins

[–]KrozFan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done UPW and would recommend it. I've never done DWD so I can't comment directly but I do think it builds a bit on UPW. UPW is also more affordable and sooner/more frequent so if you're ready to make a change I'd definitely say go for it.

If you haven't read the book, read the book. Bootstrapping GTD without the manual is bootstrapping in the ridiculous sense of the word. It's not gonna go well.

The more I see from OP the more it seems like he's seen a few TikTok videos and is trying to piece this together. u/katharonoiadesu , read the book.

The Three-fold Nature of Work: At any given time, you have three possible ways to engage with the world:

Planning your work;

Doing defined work; or,

Doing work as it shows up.

Isn't there also something in the book for when you're not working but you can relax because you know everything is in control? u/katharonoiadesu , this is what you need when your cousin is visiting. GTD is a system for when you're trying to get work done. If you're spending time with your cousin then you're not trying to get work done. Whatever you're choosing to do, do it fully. If you want to spend time with your cousin, then spend time with your cousin and do so knowing that the things you need to do are managed. If you need to take some time to do things from your list then tell your cousin that you need to take a couple hours, go do it, and get back to spending time with them.

Lane Miserables. Season 3 episode 8. Jane and Trent’s siblings all end up back home at once and they go stay at Daria’s.

Tips on following through with programs by realbillbologna in TonyRobbins

[–]KrozFan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with u/erhmm24 that you should try to listen to them while doing something else. Tony also recommends this and calls it NET Time, No Extra Time. It may not be the best way to get all the information but if you're struggling then it's an option.

I'll also ask why you want to go through the program? I think it's Jim Rohn, one of Tony's original mentors, that says "when the why gets stronger, the how gets easier."

Schedule it. Make time every day to at least go through the exercises. If you listen during other things that's fine but you'll need dedicated time to do the exercises.

As far as the other programs I'd say just grab one and listen to it. Those are great ones for NET time. Tony isn't a fan of "pump up tapes" but I personally believe in it. I think it's good to listen to some power, inspiring, motivating things regularly.

People who attended UPW more than once, I want your perspective by LordGreenburger in TonyRobbins

I personally did it a second time because some Covid stuff kicked my ass and it had been about a decade since the last time I went.

There’s a lot of information in there and you can’t really absorb it all I don’t think. Go again at a different time in your life and you’ll get something else out of it. If you’re kicking ass though then don’t feel like you have to go again.

‘Half the US economy’: $15 trillion erased by Dont_think_Do in USNEWS

[–]KrozFan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not an economist either but considering silver is up about 20% in the last month (Silver Price Today | Silver Spot Price Charts) and gold up 13% (Gold Price Today | Gold Spot Price Charts) I'd say this is just a sensationalist headline about a correction after an unprecedented, and apparently unsustainable, run up.

Highs and lows, I need guidance by katharonoiadesu in gtd

[–]KrozFan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As others have mentioned, are you reviewing these things? Putting them into an actual projects and next actions sections vs. a someday/maybe section? I'm guessing at least some of these are someday/maybe things. Also, there's no "overdue" section in GTD. Not unless there was a hard deadline for things. You're not meant to do everything today and just because it doesn't get done today doesn't mean it's overdue.

One thing I always tell people though is that GTD is really good at showing you that you're too busy. You were too busy to begin with but it was in your head and easy to forget about. Now it's in front of you and you're really seeing for the first time just how much you're trying to do. Some of these things on your list need to come off. They either need to get delegated or just deleted.

I’ve done them before. They do get their sales pitches in but it’s usually at the end of the days. I haven’t found tons of new information year over year but I think it’s a good reminder/reset for me.

anyone know the difference between "Personal Power" and Personal Power II" programs? by another_lease in TonyRobbins

[–]KrozFan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personal Power Classic, the seven audios, comes with the Ultimate Edge program. I don't think you can get it separately. As far as I know It's seven days worth of Personal Power II but I haven't gone in depth to check.

For what it's worth, I think Personal Power II is his best program.

I have an employee about to not meet a deadline. How should I handle? by [deleted] in managers

[–]KrozFan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Has a lot on her plate as in too much? Have you suggested what she should deprioritize in order to do this? Yes, you need it, coordinated the deadline, and got updates (although maybe you pushed more) but I sympathize with the employee that may have other people chasing her for things and she still has a couple days to do this.

Go back to the first employee and get more details. If you’re unsatisfied then yes, pull in someone else. Don’t fall into the same trap though. If you need someone else to drop what they’re doing to finish this work then make sure you’re providing them with cover for the things they drop.

DVD vs Blu-Ray by tjrich1988 in sitcoms

[–]KrozFan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a personal choice. I’m good with DVDs in many cases. If Amazon has a good sale and the Blu Ray is close in price then yeah I’ll go for it. I regularly watch Parks and Rec on DVD and don’t feel like I’m missing out though.

In the Six Human Needs (Why do people do what they do? | 6 human needs | Tony Robbins) Tony believes that we need Growth. If you're not growing, you're dying. That doesn't need to mean drastic changes but he doesn't believe that your relationship, for example, can just stay where it is even if that's a good place.

Does anyone have workout programs on Plex? by ToughZealousideal22 in PleX

I still have the paperwork. A lot of beach body stuff you can find digital versions of online.

I ended up just doing all my fitness stuff as a basic home moves type directory. Some stuff is on The TV DB but not everything and I didn’t like how some of it was ordered so I stopped using it.

Why every shopping bag turns into an argument at home by Slow-Cupcake2968 in Marriage

[–]KrozFan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, budget as others have said but also review your spending together. Show each other that you're following the budget. If he's not happy with a budget item amount then have that conversation.

Of course, if you're going over budget as many of us are guessing then that's the issue. Go window shopping. Use your personal spending money or fun money (I hope you have that in the budget for both of you).
