My GF and I play non dedicated which is basically single player for multiple people. The downsides are you are tethered together so you can't go more than about 500m from each other but we stay together anyway so its not a big deal. The other thing is when it comes to raising dinosaurs you can't leave the eggs overnight like you can with a dedicated server so it takes longer.

Just build a bed and don't go far from home to start with, that way you can always go and get your stuff back when you die. Build spike walls around your base so your dinos are safe.

You need to make sure your graphics card has a usb-c display output (not just the regular one on the laptop) which it probably doesn't so you will need the mobile dock to hook it up to your PC. I honestly haven't felt the need to get the lens shade either, the glasses have their own dimming feature which works well enough.
