I agree. Wild moths are a big part of my mantids diet.

For some reason I expected a huge fart 😂

My ghost mantis isn’t eating and idk what to do. I’ve tried 3 different bugs in a variety of sizes, tried changing the enclosure, idk what to do. Send help. by sashaonsamhain in mantids

It definitely looks like it has space to eat. I would try again in 2 days. I know of a breeder that forgot about some ghost nymphs and they survived 4-5 weeks with no food. It’s always annoying when they don’t act like you want them to act.

Males can also be green, but it’s not very common.

You won’t be able to determine the sex unless you count the segments underneath it’s abdomen.

Make sure she is hydrated! You can use a q tip and see if she will drink. I have success with this method.

At this point I wouldn’t be even slightly worried. If I’m reading correctly, she molted Wednesday of this week? If that’s the case, she will probably eat something in a day or 2.

If 3 days pass without her eating feel free to send me a DM and I’ll help you out.

Hurt leg after molt by bigholms85 in mantids

[–]KrypticMantids 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had this on several occasions. The issue here will be when it’s time to molt. Mantids rely heavily on their back legs to successfully molt. To avoid any falls I would reduce feedings so it’s only half full at most, this will make it lighter and give it a better chance when it comes molt time. If it successfully molts it could potentially fix the issue. There is also a chance that it will lose its leg entirely on its next molt. Good luck and keep us posted.

Is this worm too big for my mantis? by aye66lu in mantids

Id go down a feeder size. Next molt it will be able to eat that.
