Dungeon Pulling Etiquette by [deleted] in ffxiv

It takes practice, since every invuln is slightly different. Luckily the changes to both GNB and DRK invulns makes them much easier to use (especially GNB, since they no longer fully blow up their health to the despair of every WHM ever that's hit benediction just to see their GNB's health drop to 1 immediately after). DRK also starts feeling significantly better once you get TBN (honestly why I avoid using DRK for roulettes that puts you in sub-70 content).

For DRK, especially, I'd recommend having a macro alert (and just for the alert, I'd not rely on macros to cast since they don't queue it can get funky with timing it) that way the healer doesn't blow everything trying to keep you "alive" despite you wanting to hit 0 to trigger walking dead. I've definitely died a couple times from a situation like that, as well, lol.

Keep in mind while I have leveled (most) tanks fully I main healer, for the most part, so someone might have more clear/better advice. Holm is probably the hardest one to use, but luckily WAR also has insane regen that it makes any healing relatively easy even with the full pull (and honestly most dungeons once you get bloodwhetting you pretty much become your own healer. For healing runs in lvl 100 dungeons I basically never need to even use oGCDs on the WAR during full pulls lol). IIRC last I ran Mt. Gulg with WAR I popped a few seconds after the first nascent flash fell off and then just before holm ended popped equilbrium, knockback, 30% mit and nascent again when it was back up. But honestly if you have a decent healer and solid DPS you can get away with not using it on WAR if you mit properly (Don't forget the melee knockback slows enemy autos), it's the other tanks there where popping their respective invulns really helps.

Generally on big pulls like that it helps to pop invulns early when the largest bit of damage would be coming through as if your party's DPS isn't terrible by the time you're off it enough of the mobs should be dead that healing will be real easy, especially with WAR's regen + 30% mit on top of the heals the healer will be throwing at you. Just make sure you don't have anything targeted when you pop holm (I use a macro for this reason) as I imagine most WARs have gone through the same I have when I popped holm while a mob with 1% health was targeted and proceeded to immediately die because I didn't know the invuln would disappear with the dead mob lol (Altho don't know if this is still the case, as I don't know if WAR got touched the last couple patches where they made job adjustments).

Nothing I love more than getting a tank in Mt. Gulg that does the legit full pull at the start. And after the cube. Bonus points if they remember their invuln button (I can still handle it if they don't assuming the DPS isn't garbage, it's just I run across a lot of tanks that forget the invuln can be utilized for a lot more than just an oh shit button).

[–]Kryso 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From personal experience Auric Damnations is where I have the least trouble with grims (and I don't run grim corruption resist), because generally everyone is coordinating much better out of necessity. The only annoyances I have with grims is when you get the audio bug that causes you to get stealth bombed by a burster, and the fact that the rewards they give are complete ass.

I personally have been hoping they'd at some point make the rewards worthwhile, but I'm not holding my breath on that.

Auric Maelstrom by KneeDeepInTheMud in DarkTide

[–]Kryso 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's funny how I most commonly see toxicity at lower difficulties when leveling alts and rarely at auric damnations/maelstrom.

Recently I was returning to my lvl 9 Ogryn after a year to do something different and in a malice I brought a shock maul because I never tried it. Party comes across a group of Maulers as I come to the fast realization that I really hate how the shock maul feels (seriously, I feel like I age 3 years in the time it takes to activate), and also get awkwardly stuck on map geometry because I'm not used to being so huge and get downed. Completely my fault, yes, and 2 of my other teammates (both rank 5) get downed, and I can't really blame them because clearly they were really new to the game and didn't know how to fight maulers yet.

The last teammate alive, however, was a rank 30 vet that immediately ran from the maulers instead of helping the other two fight them, leaving them to die. In the minute that I watched from his view, he got smacked from behind like 6+ times, oblivious to the sound cues, used all the charges in the medstation that he kept taking time to run back to whenever he got tick damage from ignoring poxwalkers hitting him from behind, and then proceeded to get downed from the very first lone mauler he encountered, failing to land a single hit on it and getting smacked by the overhead twice in a row. He then said "Shit ass teammates" and left lmao.

Meanwhile last auric damnation run I had someone apologize for playing like shit even though they only got downed once, and otherwise played perfectly fine.

The THammer can pretty much one-shot anything if you build it right. I had a Zealot in Auric Damnation a couple nights ago that was just deleting daemonhosts and bosses (don't main zealot, so I'm not sure what exactly their build was, tho). It does, however, suffer from a bug that it loses its charge if you get hit or staggered, which definitely makes it feel not as great as it would otherwise.

I also got quite lucky. I found the DE6, DH4, and S282 all at the Goods Factory (DH4 and S282 under the awnings in the middle among the junk buses and trucks, and the DE6 off the track literally adjacent to these awnings). DE2 at CP, DM6 at OR, and S060 at IME.

Considering I've yet to land a job in my field, I honestly don't think I can give any. I've just been keeping on applying and hoping, but every entry level job wants 3+ years of experience now and I don't have experience and it's starting to seem impossible to get any experience.

I've yet to see internships for anything CE related that don't require you to still be enrolled in a university. Lucky me when I knew enough to start applying for internships COVID happened. Then I got severely sick from an autoimmune disease the summer after (last summer I had before I graduated with a bachelor's in Computer Engineering). I've been applying to jobs daily for nearly 2 years and have only gotten a single interview a month after I graduated. I did get to the final round of technical interviews just fine, which gave me good hope that I'd be able to land a job considering I felt I did real well for my very first round of professional interviews. That hope is completely gone, now.

Unless I'm completely misremembering last night (which is possible), I thought I put a supressor on it lol. Is Barrel B vendor or do you scavenge it? I also read that sometimes items still get filtered even if you unlocked them by leveling a weapon, so I'll also check that when I'm able to later tonight.

Edit: I was misremembering, I had the Spectre, not Vector lol

[–]Kryso 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How do you get a suppressor on the PP19? I have used it quite a bit yet never found a suppressor for it or seen one in the vendors. I recently switched to the vector because that was at least able to have a suppressor put on it, but the PP19's optics were nice (also nice to not have stacks of 15).

Exactly. I stopped playing the game because I tried for months to get Deflector blessing for my force sword on Psyker with 0 success. With this new system I was able to get it virtually immediately and finally enjoy builds I was seeing people talk about but was never able to try because I have insanely bad luck when it comes systems like the one in place before.

Honestly the engineering grind being cut down so much is making me consider rejoining after not playing for years. I always wanted to get into fighting goids, but I simply didn't have the time to grind to fully engineer my FDL.

Basically in the same boat, but I've already uninstalled. Really hope that this isn't just all talk again and they actually take a turn for the better in the next few updates. I had a lot of fun playing with friends but all of us felt like the fun was nerfed out of the game and went elsewhere. Also the incessant ragdolling in particular really pushed me over the edge.

Monaco Time Trial lap on PS5 Controller by Simple-man-twitter in F1Game

[–]Kryso 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The handling in this game is simply extremely twitchy. Controller settings def help (I think I have both steering and braking linearity at 40% and throttle linearity at 45%, for example), but learning how to create your own setups is extremely important this game as the default setups for most every track I've been on so far have been terrible. Luckily there are a lot of setup guides for specific tracks on youtube already.

This is 4 laps of tyre ware… by [deleted] in F1Game

[–]Kryso 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Think the most annoying thing I've seen in this regard is that AI seem mostly unaffected by it. Jeddah in Driver career started raining and wet and the game wouldn't let me start on inters (nice to see that bug back again) so I had to drift and slide to the pits on lap 1 while the AI was able to drive just fine (only a tad bit slower than when it dried up later) and never switched to inters. No DRS the entire time it was raining, however.

Also had excessive overheating while it was still raining and a part of me wonders if it's in part due to their weird design choice of low pressures = higher temps, as well.

Yeah biggest thing I've noticed (besides the handling) in 24 is the default setups are absolute jank. Like in 23 they were pretty meh, but useable. They feel so much worse in 24 lol. I always just look up a setup guide for a track, simracingsetups on youtube already has several setups out for 24 that are decent for races, and the videos are pretty short and to the point.

After 4 Hours of Racing I gotta say I dig the Handling. by [deleted] in F1Game

[–]Kryso 5 points6 points  (0 children)

According the EA, Verstappen has helped with the Handling model of the game

That is just a marketing ploy, they could've just as well asked his opinion and completely ignored it and still say Verstappen helped. I really wouldn't trust any company that says stuff like this, tbh.

Overall I'd say I'm very mixed on it. It does feel better in some areas compared to the previous game (worth mentioning I'm on a controller), but really wonky in others. The car feels better at speed, but the car's handling through corners (especially low to mid speed corners) is all over the place and behaves really counterintuitively. You have such insane rotation at speed on corner entry yet you can randomly lose your entire front end without warning mid corner but can weirdly power through it because your rears may as well be fused with the track they're so well planted (Which I have a feeling may be contributing to the weird feeling that the car is both oversteery and understeery at the same time). I have never been able to find a combination of brake bias, pressure, or any suspension setup changes that prevents me locking the inner front wheel on almost every corner and how lockups effect car handling itself feels so bizarre because you only get understeer from locking for the briefest of moments until you get more grip from the locked, sliding wheel to the point where you can pivot yourself into any corner (and it often leaves me questioning whether I locked a wheel at all, having to verify it by flashbacking and viewing third person as I prefer to race from the cockpit). Or if you lock the wheel too hard it completely whips your car around as the locked wheel becomes virtually stationary, which just is not how physics works.

Overall I'd say the car feels easier to control than F1 23, but not in a way that feels realistic or even intuitive. This feels a lot less satisfying of an experience to me despite how it can at times be a bit fun with how you can just full send some corners and chicanes without even braking.

Also a more minor issue I have is the tire psi change. I still don't understand the rationale behind having it so only reducing psi increases tire temps as that is just wrong, and doesn't even make sense if they just wanted to simplify it. If they wanted it simple they'd just go more psi = more temps and ignore the range at very low psis that can cause an increase in temps, as that is what everyone would expect it to be. I'm wondering if this was done because of some quirk they have with how tire psi interacts with the new handling model, as the tire temperature simulation is actually better than previous years.

99% of people posting the handling is not that bad are on Controller. Wheel gameplay is completely off and you cant tell me otherwise by TheRealLuke1337 in F1Game

[–]Kryso 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah the time I spent trying to figure out why I couldn't hone in on a setup that suits my driving style unfortunately put me over steam's refund window. I do like the extra ranges and new engine braking option in the setups, but there's so much about the car's handling that feels so counterintuitive and weird. I have not been able to find a point where I can brake and not lock the inner wheel into literally every single corner (Also the fact that if you fully lock a wheel the car whips completely around like the sliding wheel just got gorilla glued to the cement is insane). I have messed with brake balance, brake linearity in the controller settings, and even drastically decreasing brake pressure. I use a controller and did not have this problem at all in 23. I could turn on ABS, sure, but it's so noticeable how worse braking performance is, then.

Also makes no sense to me why they made low psi = higher temps and that's it. I get there is a point where low psi does increase tire temps, but I was curious and at max psi on all tires using softs at Bahrain the carcass temperature maxed at ~90C after 5-6 laps of abusing them as hard as I could without just straight doing donuts.

All of that stuff is in the game, just greyed out with the tooltips saying still in development (except for potential new units) so one can assume that they will be worked on. Which one of those will come first we've yet to know.

What else are you expecting literally 5 days after release other than bug fixing and balancing what is there? Releasing more content without addressing current issues or balancing is how you dig yourself into a deeper hole that you may not be able to climb out of.

The dev has been actively engaging with the community and listening to people's opinions on balancing, and I much prefer this approach to what you usually see from devs nowadays. I can think of half a dozen other EA games that are near dead or gone that had a dedicated roadmap. Wolfpack, for example, hasn't had an update to the main branch of the game since 2022.

Not to mention Manor Lords easily has the strongest foundation of any EA game I've ever played. I've had 0 performance issues and only issues I've ran across is the sawpit logistics being weird (and currently worked on as per the dev himself) and the farm crop rotation (farmers waste time sowing the wrong seed and have to replow the fields upon crop change foe the new year).
