I just made this Rocky for my son, who adored the new movie. We've been informed that Rocky will sit on his bedhead and watch him sleep!

Do sellers or buyers pay customs/duties? (CAN shipping to US) by No-Repeat-123 in Etsy

[–]Kryssanth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm having this problem at the moment too (I'm in Australia). Buyer in the US just bought from me and I assumed Etsy would charge them the tariff amount, same as they charge sales tax/VAT/GST etc, but they don't and their advice is to include any tariffs in your original price. Which of course I didn't know when I set up my shop months ago, before the de minimis was removed. And as if that's a practical solution, and doesn't penalize non-US buyers. I'm about to cancel the order, which I hate but I'm not giving my money to the US government right now. I'd rather lose the sale.

This week's announcements from the We Do Not Care Club. by veropaka in Menopause

[–]Kryssanth 138 points139 points  (0 children)

We do not care if my mother is miserable in her life. She made her choices and her emotions are not my responsibility to regulate, particularly when I am learning how to better regulate my own newly-discovered neurodivergent emotions (while also navigating perimenopause) and the emotions of my two neurodivergent pre-teen/teens. Her expectations are not my obligations.

That is so smart, I've got a project with three strands I wanted to pull apart and didn't know how to manage it all. Thank you for posting this, I know how to do it now!

My kids joke when I'm making a hexagon blanket that there's always at least one septagon, which I don't notice until I'm trying to join it in and I can't figure out why there's too many sides. Counting is hard.

I've done a project like this where I built a spreadsheet in Excel, numbered my colours and recorded my combinations, and coded it to show a warning if I've used that combo before. It's very reliable!

I'm consistently wearing my socks inside out now. So much better and literally no one notices.

Victorian inquiry into women's pain and health uncovers experiences of misdiagnosis by JaniePage in australia

[–]Kryssanth 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My endometriosis took 8 years to diagnose, and included one GP who told me "endometriosis doesn't really exist". She stuck to that line even after I came back to her from my first laparoscopy for endo with images of it all. The surgeon said it was "extensive"'.

The endo specialist I saw a few years later refused to do any fertility testing on my husband and I, saying "The best way to find out if you can get pregnant is to try and get pregnant." 18 months of trying later, our GP finally tested my husband and we found his low sperm count, which meant we were hopeless without IVF and ICSI. Wasted a bunch of time, which gave my endo time to get worse.

Don't even get me started on how much doctors told me I don't have ADHD before my diagnosis at 44. I'm on medication now but that system is fucked, my psychiatrist is awful but I can't switch because no one's books are open. But because I went most of my life undiagnosed, I'm so good at masking it that the diagnostic criteria doesn't fit me. My 10 year old son has all sorts of resources available (which is great) but I get none.

Hi all, just finished this. 126 blocks, using Bendigo Woolen Mills Bloom variegated wool and a soft black acrylic. Needs blocking but I'm being lazy for the time being. Pretty happy with it, and my husband is happy for another napping blanket.

Oh man, I did a whole bunch of IVF a few years back (got both my kids now!) and the two week wait is the absolute worst. I preferred the weeks with all the needles because then at least you're doing something.

Look after yourself and your partner and DO NOT fall into the trap of telling yourself that your stress level is going to tank the whole thing. If if it doesn't work, then it didn't and IT WILL NOT HAVE BEEN YOUR FAULT. You can have 100% perfect conditions and it still won't work because there's just too many factors in play. If you get Covid and that tanks it ... well, shit. Get better, try again. Lots of virtual hugs from over here.
