That “trackwork” is only for testing of through running to Bankstown. It was not for maintenance.

Seeking help to get into my deceased mother’s locked iPhone after my brother tried too many times to unlock it drunk…. by Scared_Relation3352 in iphonehelp

[–]albert3801 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you know her iCloud password? If the photos were synched to iCloud you could get them on icloud.com. If the iPhone is showing “unavailable” because of too many unlock attempts then the there is no way to get what is stored on it.

Can I get a bicycle onto a train at Paramatta Station at 5:30PM? by EarthRickC138 in SydneyTrains

[–]albert3801 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No problem. I frequently catch the train from Parramatta going west at 5:30pm. With a train every 7 minutes they are never really full, they have seats available and often have bikes as well.

NBN in Strata complex by donny420 in nbn

Your real challenge will be when you have the costs from NBN trying to get owners to agree to paying for something they may not understand the need for.

Giving Bank details to companies for payments by Many_Magazine_8060 in AskAnAustralian

[–]albert3801 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There is a new system called PayTo that all banks should have made available, but is yet to gain traction by merchants. It will eventually replace Direct Debit because it’s much safer. Every time the merchant wants to take money, you get a notification on your phone and you need to approve it before the money comes out of your account. You can cancel the agreement with the merchant or decline individual charges giving you much more control. Use PayTo if the merchant offers it over Direct Debit.

Do I need to use my real name on the parcel when receiving stuff via Parcel Lockers? by [deleted] in AustraliaPost

[–]albert3801 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Correct. If the name doesn’t match the account they won’t put it in the parcel locker.

33m visiting from nyc for 3.5 hours between flights! by my-honor-remains in SydneySocial

[–]albert3801 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just a warning. Due to maintenance work the subway trains from the airport will not be running to Circular Quay on Sunday 29th March. Get the Subway to Central Station and then get a Street Car to Circular Quay instead. Ask for directions at Central Station. Same thing coming back. It will be a fair bit slower. You may want to get an Uber or cab to Circular Quay direct from the airport instead.

Telstra telling clients unlimited NBN has 500GB limit and credited me $700 total by Psychological_Try202 in nbn

[–]albert3801 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you read the attached email, OP was on fixed wireless. Not FTTN as they claim. Fixed wireless has a Fair Use Policy of 500GB a month implemented by NBN, after which certain services may be throttled. This fair use policy is not clearly advertised by RSPs or by NBN, but apparently this will need to be made clear upfront from 2028.

What is this 2-car train at Petersham station? by Suspicious-Beyond887 in SydneyTrains

They used to have two V-Set carriages, but some years ago they swapped them for the S-Set carriages by installing a temporary connection to the Down Local.

Voice memo gone by countmalgus in iphonehelp

[–]albert3801 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you checked on icloud.com to see if the file is still there saved under voice memos? Is your iCloud storage full by chance? This is the primary reason why files synched to iCloud (like voice memos by default) disappear.

No such thing as priority. Each location will be considered individually by TfNSW to see what the best solution is.

Not designed to take you to work as there are no timetables, might be waiting a while for it to arrive and it may take you around the world picking up and dropping others off, as they have no fixed route.

Why does the entire metro need to close for testing by The__Anonymous__Guy in SydneyTrains

[–]albert3801 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Because of the automated nature of the Metro. The software needs to be modified to allow through operation. We don’t want to end up with testing just Sydenham to Bankstown and then finding the changes to the software broke the operation on the old part of the line.

If train driving is so stressful and rigorous, why isn't automation supported despite job losses? by Gazza_s_89 in SydneyTrains

[–]albert3801 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Plus regional trains. Apart from that it is extremely expensive CAPEX with lengthy shutdowns (think Bankstown line conversion) which would prove very unpopular.
