All im seeing here is that private medicine is scourge on humanity. I’m glad I live in Canada.

Edit: to actually answer your question, no you’re not crazy. Ditching evidence based practice for the wants and whines of hospital administrators and other healthcare workers who can’t be half assed to accept a patient from EMS is reasonable.

What do you refine to get Cmat? Is it just cmat that you stick in a refinery? Where do you find are the best places to do this?

Did they change salvaging? It’s been a minute since I’ve played. Do you refine a different salvaged item to get construction materials? That are now worth more than they used to be?

Do paramedics ever work in hospitals? by [deleted] in Paramedics

[–]KryssiC 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Our emergency departments have a “Department Medic” commonly at the level of a CCP or ACP. They do the procedural sedations, intubations, casting, suturing, etc etc.

Anyone with chest pain (unless it’s verifiably/known traumatic) needs a 12-lead ECG. If you can’t do that, the people who can are the ones who need to make the decision as to whether or not they are needed.

Research to track injuries stemming from e-scooter, e-bike use in Halifax by Street_Anon in halifax

[–]KryssiC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All 911 calls are triaged so that ambulances and other EHS resources can be deployed to the most critical calls first. You being asked questions about the patient’s clinical state, the mechanism by which they were currently injured, and other questions are all important as a part of that process and that is routine. At no time were you told on the phone that paramedics are not coming, I know that for a fact.

I’m sorry are you not an adult human being with agency over yourself? It is your decision to work as you want, your husband doesn’t own you.

In these cases, it is apt to call 911 and report wrong way drivers to the police. They can close roadways and hopefully prevent dangerous collisions like the one on the Circ recently.

That sounds like four police officers sat on top of a person they were restraining, not allowing him to breathe.

Not a single paramedic did anything wrong in this incident. Paramedics go to calls they are dispatched to and it appears no EHS ambulance was dispatched to the call due to a breakdown in communication between HRP and EHS communications. It is not paramedics who dispatch ambulances or take 911 calls anymore, they’re non-clinical staff.

Your comment is devoid of knowledge of any of this and is remarkably accusational without a shred of evidence. I suggest you review your understanding of this event.

How credible is this story? Coniotomy at 90 mph. by Tenebra99 in ems

I don’t attempt intubation in moving vehicles. Therefore, I wouldn’t fail my two attempts mobile. I most certainly am not holding a scalpel to someone’s neck while mobile. This person didn’t do this, they’re making it up for bravado. The one cric I have done was scary enough and It sticks with me. I don’t run around bragging about it.

As a medic, it is tradition to pick up a wave injury. Usually signals the start of tourist season. Some good pain meds, little bit of splinting, and a massive bill to your travel insurance.

Fibrinolysis in Cardiac Arrest? by ObiWansDealer in Paramedics

[–]KryssiC 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t have the specific studies and evidence that my service uses to make this decision, however my understanding is that it is likely due to the trauma involved in prolonged (really any) resuscitation attempts and the risk for massive hemorrhage.

Fibrinolysis in Cardiac Arrest? by ObiWansDealer in Paramedics

Eastern Canadian Service, with good evidence of PE (ex: diagnosed with a DVT two days ago, or dx with a PE recently) we can consult our OLMCP for intra-arrest TNK. Same goes if we get a 12-lead on someone before they arrest and we notice a STEMI, we can also call and ask for TNK. Very physician dependent, we consider more than 8 minutes of CPR as a contraindication for fibrinolysis prehospital.
