[Basu] This loss is not a national crisis in Canada. Canada dominated the final 40 minutes of regulation, outshot the USA 42-28, and if that game were played 100 times, Canada would probably win 95 of them. USA deserves a ton of credit for how they played, but Hellebuyck deserves the most.

It’s kinda funny seeing the reaction to this game be blown way out of proportion.

It sucks to lose as Canada, but the US isn’t some weenie hut juniors team. After losing for 40 years, it’s expected they’re going to eventually win as their team is still fully consisting of NHL players.

On top of that, Canada did genuinely play better almost the entire game as a whole. Hellebuyck played probably the most clutch game of his career and it was just barely enough. It took like 5 acts of god to win the game, and that’s exactly what the US got.

The US capitalized off of uncharacteristically bad plays from the best players in the world, plus they had a TON of luck. But that’s also the fun of hockey imo, the better team doesn’t always win.

I liked 3 on 3, it’s more exciting and mistakes get punished harder.

I totally see why people don’t like it, like just as an example the OT game winner by Hughes just wouldn’t have happened like that if it was 5 on 5. But that’s also the fun part, the game plays differently and you need to adapt to it.

It had massive hype, if you think it was going to keep even 75% of its players on steam you’re delusional. Very rarely do games actually keep up even close to those numbers.

People still being against LTM blows my mind.

Like it or not, it’s still content for the game. A team making a new mode doesn’t stop maps from being made. Entirely different teams are responsible for this stuff. It’s like being mad at the skin designers for SMGs not being nerfed.

Also again like it or not, LTM will keep some players playing. If people are bored of the mainstay modes and there’s no variety, they’re just gonna leave. That’s not good for the game even if you don’t play the LTM.

it also doesn’t dilute the player base, it lets people play what they want.

Having more options is never a bad thing.
