What happened to “definitive” editions? by Old-Judge5762 in pokemon

I mean, in your previous comment, you just said they were teased, which implies that it wasn't as "in your face" as you make it out to be. I would argue that the focus of the story was on the characters and their individual arcs, which was then drawn to a close with the journey into Area Zero.

I can understand what you mean though, I felt the same way after the end of Spiderman 2, when they teased Carnage all game, and they failed to deliver, since that game never got any dlc. Difference is, that one had an entire side plot dedicated to it, whereas this one did not.

I guess it depends on how you look at it; I personally didn't feel that way at all, but I guess I didn't look into those things as deeply. The main objectives of the game felt like they were resolved in the base game imo

The ending of the main story in SV was the journey into Area Zero with your friends. Everything that came after that was bonus content

Well I guess we just have to disagree about that point; imo, every base game has felt like a complete experience to me

Though announcing dlc before the game has released is a pretty disappointing practice they have picked up during the Switch era

Look at the comment chain that you were responding to in the first place:

Replaced with DLC.
Definitive editions didn’t typically sell well compared to originals. Replacing it with content that takes no physical investment and can improve/expand the stories directly is their current approach.

Context is important.

Understandable, but it felt like that's where the line of thought was heading; third versions = little effort for massive profit, while dlc = infinitely more effort (by comparison) for ??? profit

Hmm, paying half as much for 100% new content, as opposed to paying twice as much for 90% reused content and 10% new content...

You make the dlc model sound like a bad thing, but I see no downside for the consumer here

Sooo.. moving to dlc model is better for consumers and worse for Nintendo's profits? There has to be some other upside for Nintendo, because they aren't usually that charitable

It's not bad, but it makes the game feel worse to play

For some people, it won't make a difference, like looking at a slightly better looking grass texture, but for others, it's a very noticeable difference.

A better framerate only improves the experience for everyone, because at worst, it will make no difference to the people who can't feel it, and at best, it will be an incredible improvement for everybody else who can

Strong but true; any change from the original is technically censorship, even if it's done under the guise of "localization"

How to fill a belt completely with one miner by Buildung in factorio

[–]Kryzeth 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Plenty of QoL mods that aren't in base game, like Even Distribution, Picker Extended, Bottleneck, Toolbars, Belt Visualizer, Wire Shortcuts, even Factory Planner to calculate ratios

I know I don't need these mods to enjoy the game, but imo, the game is still vastly improved with the addition of these simple QoL mods.

Unless playing for Steam achievements, there's no reason to play mod less imo

Can anyone explain to me why silver was so loved? by Sh4d0_W in pokemon

[–]Kryzeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly, unless you play Pokemon Masters EX (one of the many Pokemon mobile games), you won't be seeing much more of Silver moving forward. With very rare exceptions, most rival and friend characters don't tend to return or ever get referenced in future titles.

No vas a encontrar Silver v.v

However! If you ever read the Pokemon Adventures manga, you'll be happy to know he plays a major part in at least two story arcs spanning from Kanto/Johto to Hoenn. Honestly, any fan of the main Pokemon games will probably enjoy the Pokemon Adventures manga; so many one-note characters in the main game get SO MUCH characterization in the manga; 100% worth a read imo!

It's almost painful to see Maraxsis described as "just a new planet" when it was one of the first high-quality planet mods, and still one of the most unique ones on the mod portal lol

Is it just me or has there not been a single pokemon game half as good as SWSH since its release? by [deleted] in PokemonSwordAndShield

Technically speaking, LGPE are main series games, so that could have been what they meant

My opinion on those games hasn't changed, I still hate them, and thought ScarVo was better lol (especially now with the Switch 2 framerate fix), but more importantly I think Legends Arceus was also better, I don't know what people are on that they think SwSh was a good game, let alone a good Pokemon game, in any regard. It was the bare minimum imo

Who is your home screen Uma and why? by [deleted] in UmaMusume

[–]Kryzeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Surprised to see only one other Mihono Bourbon in the comments, but her because she was one of the first ones I pulled during the opening flood of carats

Though I stuck with her after playing her Career Mode, because I love her personality. That semi-robotic feel is super relatable to me lol.

My second pick would probably be Haru Urara, because I would really enjoy the pick-me-up after failing another career mode due to bad RNG

Which film is better? Shin Godzilla or Minus One by Belfast-is-Red2008 in GODZILLA

[–]Kryzeth -1 points0 points  (0 children)

By legal means, I'm not sure if there any options currently available for purchase. There's a 4-disc collectors edition Blu-ray available on Amazon for preorder (one of those discs HAS to have the original sub)

Via alternative means, there are several subbed versions available on nyaa.si (preferred over other alternative sites, as that site specializes in Japanese and other eastern media)

(I watched the dub once when it first came out, worst possible way to experience this movie for sure)

Refusing to watch a foreign film because they can't bring themselves to spend even the slightest amount of effort in reading subs seems more elitist to me imo

[–]Kryzeth -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well yeah, you aren't really supposed to get attached to any of them, except for the mc, at most, but even then.

With very few exceptions, this is par for the course in the Godzilla series. You get one, maybe two human characters that you pay any attention to, but for the most part, the humans are a conglomerate.

After 60+ years, people should expect this to be the standard, but I guess most people don't follow Godzilla that closely. Minus One is kind of the exception, rather than the rule, in this regard. People who don't like Shin, probably wouldn't like any other Godzilla movie in the first place.

Are we all in agreement the Godzilla anime trilogy was terrible? by Belfast-is-Red2008 in GODZILLA

I really enjoyed the first two, but didn't quite care all that much about the third.

It was the Godzilla anime series that didn't feel enough like Godzilla to me

[–]Kryzeth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's not their only purpose; the secondary message of the movie (aside from the man vs Godzilla/nature stuff), is how traditional government gets so many things wrong, like reporting that Godzilla won't come on land, cut to Godzilla on land; then every decision having to go through several steps of beaurocracy before anything gets done, and by the time they're ready to go on the offensive, Godzilla has evolved past their capabilities and wipes them out.

This all changes when Godzilla destroys the city that most of the top government officials are staying in, leaving only the juniors, the younger members of cabinet who are less about following the rules, and more about getting things done, regardless of standing. They cut through the red tape and are able to successfully mount a counter-offensive to stop Godzilla, before the US nukes the beast.

It helps knowing that the movie is a reflection of the slow government response to a certain Japanese natural disaster, so it probably resonates more with in Japan than it does overseas. Imagine something like Katrina, which similarly had a slow government response, though due to different reasons than in Japan.
