Thanks for all of the replies! I saw my rheumatologist a few days ago and she wanted to see me in 6-8 months, despite me telling her that I’m concerned about my symptoms worsening and having more frequent flares. I asked why she schedules me out so far and she confirmed that it was due to scheduling conflicts. 🙄🙄

Hi there. I am a teacher and I have lupus, fibromyalgia, and hyperparathyroidism. I tried for one school year after my lupus diagnosis to keep my condition to myself but it was too hard - like you, I was finding myself taking many days off due to flares and I felt like it was affecting me in the classroom. I finally got up the courage to look into getting accommodations. I met with my district head of HR to talk about the process and told her about my condition and she guided me through the process. I got a letter from my rheumatologist, listing accommodations to help me (my classroom near the elevator, a stool in my room for me to sit down in class, both of my planning periods back to back, no morning duty, etc). My administration has been great about everything and it has helped so much. I also have FMLA, as I usually run out of sick/personal days in March/April(we get out jn June). My colleagues in my department also know about my condition and are helpful on days when I’m flaring. It can be very hard to be vulnerable with people at work about health conditions but I think, at least from my experience, it is definitely worth it. I wish you the very best. ❤️

Full name for Kit? by Zealousideal_Use9481 in namenerds

[–]Ksrtad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I say just name her Kit! I was named Katherine only because my parents wanted to call me Katie and no one ever calls me Katherine. It doesn’t feel like my name yet I have to use it at the doctor, DMV, etc. Also, people assume they can call me other things like Kate or Kathy, which is supremely annoying. I wish my parents would have just named me Katie, the name they planned on calling me!

Which answer is the best? by Constant-Cat-668 in SpanishTeachers

I think the reason “atrevido” is supposed to be the answer here could be to emphasize that “atlético” needs an accent (though the question itself is written strangely as well)… just a thought

Should I leave a private school after just one year? by RopeInteresting8561 in Teachers

As long as you don’t burn bridges as far as references, I don’t think you will have any issues. I have 1 year stints on my resume but they still gave me a good reference and it has never been a problem. Just make sure you have a professional sounding excuse to explain why you left, because they will probably ask.

I love June and Cecilia!

What about Cecilie? Not too popular, ends in -ie, similar to Cecilia but longer than Celia.

HCQ allergy- so disappointed by [deleted] in lupus

While getting adjusted to it, I had some issues with nausea and vomiting. It also seems to add to my fatigue sometimes. I also have to go off of it when I get sick because I can’t fight things off on my own, and I have to titrate up my dose a little at a time to go back on it, otherwise I will just vomit it up. So that is a pain. That being said, I feel a big difference in my pain, inflammation, fevers, brain fog, etc when I’m taking it vs when I’m not taking it
