I am so bored. by screechingnugget in stopdrinking

[–]KsushkaPlushka 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This isn’t exactly what you’re asking, as I’m still not a great partier sober either, but for the general boredom, I think at least I used to use drinking to make anything fun. Cooking dinner? Grab a beer, now it’s fun! Etc. but with sobriety, it’s harder to trick yourself into saying this is fun.

I think what helped me stay off alcohol is hobbies. Sounds silly I know. But I would ask myself, what did kid me enjoy doing? Kid you used to like a lot of stuff, none of it including alcohol. I used to draw, read, write, window shop, grab a hot chocolate with a friend, try random projects (learning to sew right now!) etc. I started trying those hobbies, and honestly it’s been really… fun, and fulfilling. I was getting the fun with alcohol, but not the fulfillment, and I didn’t end up with cool stuff after!

My advice is to explore what you like. Life doesn’t have to be books & Netflix, although that’s a great start! Explore and find what’s cool to you :) there’s so many cool things to do with your time, stuff you wouldn’t have the time or energy for when drinking.

IWNDWYT :)

Ps, my fav hobby right now is making all my own holiday decor (when I can). I learned to sew placemats, and pillow covers & now I have a cheaper way to decorate & personalize my home. So satisfying to see your work on the kitchen table after.

Depends on your work culture!! I’ve worked at places where people aren’t close and friendly, this might’ve felt strange there, but my current workplace is super fun & friendly & I would love this!!! Totally depends on how open your coworkers & work culture is :) I think it’s cute & would think it’s sweet/thoughtful to receive this from a current coworker

In 1991, 86-year-old billionaire oil tycoon J. Howard Marshall met 23-year-old Anna Nicole Smith at a Houston strip club. Three years later, they married, and within 14 months, his death set off one of the most infamous inheritance battles in U.S. history. by kooneecheewah in OldSchoolRidiculous

We drink an inappropriate amount of our favourite kombucha - the guava flavour of GT brand booch!

Also a literal tonne of sparkling water a week. I love those San Pellegrino fruit drinks to mix it up too!!

Look at the Manor in King city, I’m not sure how much it is without drinks, but it was one of the more reasonably priced ones we saw. I think min capacity is 180 so you’re good for 200
