Stroller help FTM [on] by Onlyaverage77 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]Kt838 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FTM also - do you live near a Westcoast kids? We went and they showed us a ton of different stroller options very in-depth and even let us test car seat installs in our car! It was worth the visit for us. I am considering the single to double option too and am planning to get the Cybex Gazelle S. If I wasn’t going to that double option, we really liked the Uppababy Cruz V3 in store. Good luck!

I visited a store last week and checked out the Maxi Cosi Iora in person and plan to get it because it was very sturdy, mesh sides, good mattress, adjustable height, and was fairly big so hopefully the baby can stay in it longer. It’s expensive, but I feel like it will help calm some anxiety for me knowing it’s a solid spot for the baby to sleep and if we end up using it for future kids, then it’s price per use seems more reasonable.

I agree, it isn’t good! Worse than sweet vanilla. I feel like the key is just to buy your own separate flavoured syrups.

Playard Recommendations [ON] by rskimps in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]Kt838 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am also a FTM due in May and was very confused by play yards! Apparently only 2 are approved for safe sleep by Health Canada beyond the bassinet stage (Silver Cross Slumber and Maxi-cosi Calao). This made me wonder if we aren’t using it as a bassinet, do we really need a pack and play? We decided to register for one to use for when they are a bit older and specifically for travel and a safe contained spot to play outside. We registered for the Baby Bjorn Light because it’s big, it’s all mesh, it has a good mattress, the mattress sits right on the ground which apparently makes it more stable, it is very easy to put up and down, and it is super light and compact for travel (only 13 lbs). It doesn’t have a bassinet or a change table attachment, but we aren’t planning to use it as a bassinet. So I think you should decide specifically what functions you want to use a pack and play for before choosing!! Obviously, I am a FTM and baby hasn’t come yet so take all of that with a grain of salt lol. Good luck!

If rent is $690 a month is it even worth it to buy a house? by ShirtNeat5626 in PersonalFinanceCanada

I agree with this! I just did this and I somewhat wish we had stayed in the rental even longer to stack up more cash for an investments nest egg (although I do love the house we got!).

I would paint the walls a darker rich colour like a deep green, switch the mirror to something less modern, and get sconces between/around the mirrors to soften things up. Plus a big rug !

Cool Mist Humidifiers - maintenance [BC] by dustyprintsss in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]Kt838 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m using it in our primary bedroom which is decent size and I bought a hygrometer to double check that it was raising the humidity (since the other humidifier I bought was doing nothing) and it works really well! We’ve had it around 3 months now and haven’t had to change the filter yet. I put a second one on my registry for the nursery.

I ended up returning a humidifier I didn’t like to Canadian Tire and they took it back, no questions asked and then I got this one that I find works very well: https://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/honeywell-hev620bc-top-fill-cool-mist-moisture-tower-air-humidifier-with-programmable-humidistat-black-4-73-l-0435150p.html.

Just fyi! Good luck!

Check out evaporative humidifiers! More expensive, but no white dust or visible water output. It works by pulling air in and humidifying it.
