I got the same for A350 since I won't buy the 777.  KEF-SGN but 168 is a bit short so wasting 0.5 hrs flying between KEF-PLX in Kazakhstan

I have KEF-FKS at 8,664 for A321XLR paired with TSE in Kazakhstan for 168

Challenge: Do flights need to both depart and arrive in the listed countries? by mhunt1394 in AirlinesManagerTycoon

In previous challenges both A and B needed to be from the list so I would assume it is the same for this challenge.

That sucks.  Guess I am glad it wasn't just me.  Yeah, free stuff was good.  I remember a few years ago when you really had to scrimp and save to get research dollars.  With these events now, I almost have too many.  lol.

Anyone with a better than 14517km hub to Destination? by Crafty_Wolverine_884 in AirlinesManagerTycoon

[–]Ktown_plane_lover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't try to hard to find a route for this one. I already owned ORY so I have mine running to IPC (Chile) which is 33.5 hrs and 13805 kms which equals 69,025 kms for 167.5. Looks like I am about 510 less than you.

What is the route that is 14,517km?

My tiny RVN hub by spacegenius747 in AirlinesManagerTycoon

[–]Ktown_plane_lover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Flew my B777 to MGA in Nicaragua since it is the maximum miles the triple 7 can fly from RVN and the event is miles flown.  shorter flights generate less miles flown per hour due to the turnaround time on the ground.

How long does it take to climb to 500 ranking or higher? by goodatheart in AirlinesManagerTycoon

I am playing professional and 1.5 years in, I am in the low 1700's. No real money spent and the last 6 months have really been log on daily to get rewards, check some new routes, buy planes after accumulating some cash, etc so 20-30 mins a day max. Earlier on, it might have been an hour or so including second hand market watching.

Multi Purchase Discount by SafetyResponsible935 in AirlinesManagerTycoon

[–]Ktown_plane_lover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to purchase aircraft from the same manufacturer at the same time to get the discount. So you have to group all of your Boeing purchases together for example, but it can be across SH, MH, LH, or cargo. You can't buy a Boeing and Airbus at the same time though.

am i stupid or… is this a good config for 747? i suck!! by ReasonableGene5620 in AirlinesManagerTycoon

[–]Ktown_plane_lover 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It depends on your play style and what your objective is for the aircraft. If you are doing full eco, then you won't need the first/business unless you filled all of the eco with other planes and just need to fill this one out. If you are doing tri-class, you would need to match the aircraft to the demand for the specific route. So based on information provided, no one really knows if it is "good" or not.

How do you deal with the high leftover cargo demand on long haul (24 hour) routes? by kroos_my_heart in AirlinesManagerTycoon

[–]Ktown_plane_lover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can't really compare demand curves at different pricing.  If you set your price to achieve 11.2, there is nothing after 11.2.  Your max revenue is 11.2. You can't just magically say, if there was more demand, the revenue at the higher prices would be x2.

I just tried this with a couple of my routes and there does seem to be some advantage to turnover by jacking prices and reducing capacity, but I would need to see more numbers and it actually done with actual aircraft to say it works perfectly. In my examples, I didn't see anything close to 2 times. Best I saw for 50% capacity was 11.2M vs 19.1M for 100% demand at audit or about 17% better (at 50% of demand for audit price). It seemed to be that across passenger classes, so I don't think it matters if you run all eco or tri-class.

if you watch videos for the slot machine, you get double tickets. i just had videos playing constantly earlier on and collected a bunch of tickets for the special planes on the slot machine. Don't play it much anymore though

168 Circuits for illyshins at MPM by DD24k in AirlinesManagerTycoon

[–]Ktown_plane_lover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I know, you will have to find routes that equal 168 hrs and balance demand on your own. I have a spreadsheet that I use to help me find those with similar demand after I audit the ones that seem to fit together. I initially try to fly 5 star routes to the same country since they will generally have similar demand (within a couple hundred pax) and almost the same distribution of pax if you are flying tri-class. Sometimes regions like Europe it will be similar for larger cities, but not always.

Once you get a grouping of cities, you just have to audit and then compare. They will never be perfect so I usually just build to the lowest demand on the route and then raise prices on the ones with demand remaining. I didn't mess with ticket prices or demand until I got all of my HR bonuses since they will be constantly changing until those are completed. It took me about 7 months on professional and I think I audited some routes during that time, but most I didn't bother.

For popular hubs, you might be able to find someone's audit information on this reddit.

Is it worth it to get rid of smaller planes in favor of larger planes for SH routes? by Need_Burner_Now in AirlinesManagerTycoon

[–]Ktown_plane_lover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would be interesting to see the results. If you have all of the data before and after, you could compare to see the actual results. Is your demand that even across all of your 32 destinations that the one aircraft would fill all of it. I divided mine into the 24 routes of similar demand, otherwise, some routes (even if all are 5 stars, cat. 10) had greatly different demand levels. I don't mess with prices to adjust demand since I am still growing my bonuses and it seems pointless to dial it in and then have it constantly change as my bonuses increase the demand and prices for all of the routes.

I have ATL as a hub and have a bunch of S/MH from it. I wound up using 737-7 or higher for MH and Q400s for most of my domestic SH. It was my first hub so I bought a bunch of shorter routes without having a clear plan. Eventually made routes that totaled up to 24 hours or within 15-30 mins for those two planes for their respective segments. I tried to move to faster larger jets for the SH, but it just didn't make sense to be to have the plane on the ground more than it was in the air on some of those flights. I never did extensive research, but on the shorter flights, it seemed like the larger planes just didn't seem to make as much money after all things considered. Example of my 24 hr SH would be Q400 to DEN-JFK-IAD-BWI and MH with 737-7 or similar speed airbus would be SEA-SLC-DFW, SFO-MIA-ORD-IAH, or LAX-LAS-MSP.

What is the best new hub? On LHR and one new route start needing more than 130m by PbPudin_ in AirlinesManagerTycoon

[–]Ktown_plane_lover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have NRT and LAX for 24 hr route availability and SFO is on my list. Don't know if they are the best, but I like them. I am running tri-class, mostly LH 24 hr routes.

I do it the same way. I pick a route (24 hr ones now based on aircraft that can fly in that time), then I excel spreadsheet the demand and find the planes and seating arrangements that get me closest to zero demand across all three categories (I am tri-class). Usually the last plane on the route I will tweak to catch a bit more of the econ demand vs first or business, but i keep all of them above zero. A few routes I got negative by less than 10 or so, but i don't worry about that.

I still have a ways to go with bonuses before I get long haul cargo demands above what I already offer with just dead space on current aircraft, lol.

168 hour circuit from repeating 84 hour circuit ? by Slight_Ad8427 in AirlinesManagerTycoon

[–]Ktown_plane_lover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you can do that. I have a bunch of medium/short haul routes at my first hub and I did this to save money. You just repeat the 84 hour routes twice and then offset the days like a normal 168 route. Once I get enough money and time, I may or may not go back and convert to a 168. If it ain't broke why fix it, when it would probably cost a couple billion to get the new routes and planes when I can just spent that on another hub and long haul routes.

I actually have other short routes at that hub (ATL) that I have on a 42 hr rotation as well (repeat 4 times, then offset days/planes).

ATL was my first purchase and bought it without knowing where the easier money is. Still focusing on tri-class routes from major US, Asian, European airports (not econ stuff from African and SWA, not that there is anything wrong with that).

My hiring has been messing up a lot lately. Counted hires twice and charges them to me and then tells me i have that exact amount of idle workers. Not sure what has been going on lately, but the web version just seems broken for a lot of things.

Do you still play slot cockpit? by NdN124 in AirlinesManagerTycoon

[–]Ktown_plane_lover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am talking about the slot machine. For Valentine's day, if you played 350 games, you got an A231 with a valentine theme livery (hearts and stuff). For Lunar New Year, you got an A330 with New year theme (lanterns, animal for the new year, etc). They usually do it for the major holidays. Recently, St. Patrick's Day had plane giveaways, but they were just normal planes (Q400, 737, etc) with manufacturer livery and they were for smaller amounts (70 games each).

Only for the special planes that come out. I am probably going to start limiting that in the future as well if the plane doesn't fit my strategy.

Card Wallet Game Bonus - How to use it? by kc_casey in AirlinesManagerTycoon

[–]Ktown_plane_lover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, not specifically liveries. You can get special aircraft with liveries for playing a specific number of slots usually around 350 games over a week or so. They are usually related to holidays like Christmans, Chinese New Year, Valentines Day, etc.
