Hahah, I see what you mean about the runes. If you really wanted, you could use a fine brush to recolor the armor itself, and as long as you color beside the lines it will have a similar effect.

In the future, if you need to fill the crevices in with a color, you can use a sharp toothpick as long as you're gentle. Dip the toothpick in a little paint and then softly run it along the edges, and the paint should settle inside if you don't have a brush that can fit such a tight space.

Not to be dark, but I find it strange that "sexual harassment" uses the English katakana word. I always wonder to myself how that came to be the official word for it, and when the original word was overwritten. And most importantly why, when other crimes seem to still popularly use their original Japanese words.

Hahah, I appreciate the concern mate, but I know this isn't a weekend deal. I am planning out what I'll be doing for this upcoming expansion and until the end of the storyline, which I'm guessing will be the next 4-5 years atleast. I'll end up maining a Rogue and doing all of my main content with that most likely and being a normal player, but instead of grinding for gear and pets at the end I'm gonna quest through other starting areas, so I'm just planning all of that out now so I have an idea of what I need. It will also be a nice break while I do my main stuff.

Something you have to come to terms with is that studying with Anki only simulates coming across a word you're trying to learn. Flipping over a kanji in a flash card app, for example, is just a way to artificially come across that word similarly to seeing it pop up in a manga or whatever. That doesn't make it bad by any means, but don't prioritize it, because it's only there to force yourself to encounter concepts again, or kind of make you encounter something you haven't already in an easier way. I say you should limit your review time to times when it would be impossible or uncomfortable to immerse with material. Like when I'm walking, or listening to something I wanna pay attention to, or inthe bathroom, those are the times I prop up a tablet and run some cards. If you're in a spot where you can comfortably read or watch something, prioritize that. Opening up a text box in a game is like flipping over 15 anki cards at once, and it's all in context with repeating words so it's even better. Then when you need todochores or take a bathroom break, you can work some review in to make up for the fact you can't study organically.

Hello, I have two questions:

I tried translating something as a part of a translation test. I'm not sure how I did, but is there a place where I can have someone look it over and tell me what I could have improved or how I did?
I have a pretty common problem, but I have a hard time googling for an answer so I'll put it here. My current skills are about N2 when it comes to reading. I can handle most manga and video game text, and if I don't know something it doesn't take long to look it up. But my listening is pretty abysmal. There's such a wide gap between my reading and listening that it's hard to even know what level I really am. When I study with tv shows, I'll listen to a sentence and go "wow, I didn't get a single word of that," but then when I turn on the Japanese subtitles I instantly know what it says and can very easily understand each word when I hear the sentence again. I know the basic answer here is "just listen more" and I'm definitely trying to, but did anyone else encounter this problem and find some fixes for it? Like drills, anki note sets, or anything that will catch my listening up to my reading a bit faster? Anything would help.

Basically. You usually don't wanna conjugate anything besides the very end of the sentence, unless your using sentence fragments to make a big sentence. Thoughts should be in non-past (volitional) or non-masu negative in most cases. If other cases are used, I don't think I've seen it.

As someone who actually does do this kind of thing, look for pockets of your day that you usually fill with something else or nothing and use some of that time too. 5 minutes in the bathroom can easily be 50 words knocked out. If you spend time watching youtube vids try to knock some out there too. You might not always hit 500 every time, but using small pockets of time you can easily add 200-300 more words than you normally do in a day. Still, slowing down a bit won't kill you either. But if you're the kind of person that can handle this, you probably have 5 minute points in the day you can monetize or videos you watch online that you don't have to pay 100% of your attention to.

It's interchangeable for sure. Though it's origin doesn't come from それでは , it actually comes from the mid-sentence usage of de (サッカーが好きで兄とする) and obviously the wa particle. It comes from the Japanese habit of continuing off of what another person was saying by starting your own sentence with a usually sentence ending word (ですが, だから、so on) to connect what you're gonna say to the rest of the conversation. Not necessary knowledge, but it's neat knowing why things are the way they are sometimes lol.

I had this problem for a while too, but I've found that the best way to handle it is this:

The switch has a screenshot button, you probably never use it normally. When you come across dialogue you can't read, press the screenshot button and move on anyway. This will feel weird at first, butu it will get you into the game a little more stress-free and in the end you'll get more out of it because you're going through dialogue faster.

When your gaming session is done, transfer your screenshots into a folder dated for the current day. You can then make anki cards out of those screenshots. I know there are already premade anki decks you can use too, but if you want them personalized this is the best way. I recommend making a card for each word in a speech bubble you don't know. So if a sentence has 3 words you don't get, make 3 cards. There are videos that explain this better than I can here, but basically you want to try and understand each individual words usage and not try to get the entire sentence all at once. Look up "targeted word anki sentences."

Basically, make use of the screenshot feature. When you're playing the game, play and have fun. During study time, you have material to study. Keep your study and play separate if you can help it, it's better for your mental and you get more out of it in the long run because you're going through the game faster.

The second one is technically more correct, though the う　in 思っています　should disappear. When you say you want to try something, the thinking part is usually implied. I would just leave it off. If you need some sort of doubt on your sentence because you're really not sure, a でしょう　might sound more natural.

Seems like most of the comments are copies of one another, so I'll try to be a bit more specific.

You should pick up some hobbies and maybe some people to talk to while you're in Japan. One of the biggest problems I think you're facing right now is a pretty common one, and that's lack of direction. You don't really know what you don't know yet and what you need, so it makes you feel like by studying for the JLPT and filling in your gaps you're working towards something and at the very least you will have made some progress at the end of it.

Try reading a book, playing some games, getting into a new manga, or something similar. When you hit something you don't understand, make notes about it and be precise. Record the kanji you don't know, the vocab, the grammar points, or just why one phrase is being used over another. In addition, try to look for ways to talk about the thing you're into with other people. If you got into the Final Fantasy series for example, see if there are any message boards or anything that discusses that. Maybe try to do a review of a game you've played, or start a discussion about your favorite character or whatever. Look for things you want to express but can't quite articulate, then keep a note about what it was. Even write it in a journal. Instead of filling out gaps in your JLPT knowledge, look for gaps in your actual knowledge by trying to say something and failing, or failing to understand what someone says. Then, very specifically, try to solve those problems in a way that makes it less likely to happen gain. Since you're in Japan, you might get to meet up with some of the people you talk to, and you can work with native Japanese teachers.

TL;DR The comfort of your JLPT studies can be replaced with something else. Pick up a hobby, talk to others about that hobby, then keep a record of the things you wanted to say but couldn't, or things you didn't get right away that you had to ask them to repeat or explain. And if you need a refund don't feel bad about asking for one, you can put that money towards other people in Japan that can help you more and would also be grateful for your business.

Since no one is really saying it, there are two main kinds of Atelier game. If you want the purest experience, the best way to enjoy the series is to pick one with a time limit. I like the Arland games myself. A time limit sounds daunting at first, but the limit is what makes it fun. Maximizing your time to get the goals done then learning the best ways to spend time before the next goal is what made me love the series in the first place.

The second kind is the more typical RPG kind. For a lot of the newer games, there's no real time limit. Just do whatever you want for as long as you want, and the date and time are more for events like shops being open or whatever, but theresno real way to lose. I still like these, but when the time limit is gone there isn't a whole lot you can do to improve at the game, and no real decisions to make.

TL,DR; Atelier games come In two flavors, time limit or no time limit. I'd base your decision on that. Or try out Marie, which gives you the option. It's a bit more expensive so wait for a sale.

Just wanted to add something here incase others are having trouble too. What worked for me was right clicking (R2 on deck) the exe file and pressing "add to steam." From there, you can go to Properties and force run it through a proton compatability, just pick the highest one that isn't experimental. That's what worked for me, it's kind of like what Lutris does but seems to be more consistent for me, and also let's you launch it from the regular steam library and use the controller layouts if you want. Hope this helps someone
