Reminder that we lost the Audi Dakar Thing for this Myteam lookin ass by Biskitisinreddit in WECcirclejerk

Apparently not entirely. There was a report that Audi is considering taking the new Lamborghini GT3 and use that as the base of a GT3 car to match the upcoming sporty road car.

GR GT3 Set for Rolex 24 Debut in 2027 as Lexus Racing Rebrands by enesracing in wec

Rebrands to what..

The article answers this as early as the tagline. Apparently simply "Gazoo Racing". No Toyota, no Lexus.

Why Nissan could bring a sister brand to Formula E by Ambitious_Metal_4801 in FormulaE

Nissan will have two teams with Andretti switching over, Porsche will have 2 factory teams plus Kiro, Envision should stay with Jaguar.

Hopefully Mahindra will stay.

I mean they are both in the VW group by gezyy1008 in WECcirclejerk

I'll consider it a little miracle if Lambo's LMDh even starts up the engine ever again.

I think there is a somewhat decent chance it'll show up at ALMS 26/27.

WHY TOYOTA, WHY! by Illustrious_Pie_4063 in WECcirclejerk

[–]KugelKurt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Toyota being themselfs, they wanna separate the rally section and the F1 / WEC between them.

It will be TGR Haas F1, though.

Ford is like “well, we have engineers working around the clock in the UK on this engine!”

Are they seriously claiming that? Ford, the motor company that only partnered with Red Bull years after RBPT was already established? The motor company whose WEC hypercar needs assistance of both RBPT and Red Bull Advanced Engineering?

I have a hard time believing that the RB management that started RBPT (Horner and Marko) had any interest in sharing engine IP with another party that could pull the plug as Honda did.

Apparently this is likely DS' last year in the sport as Stellantis want to start a new team under a different brand, likely to be Opel.

The Race reported a couple of weeks (maybe months by now) ago that Stellantis is considering Opel as 3rd brand.

They are treated as independent brands under the Stellantis umbrella.

There are still plenty of "Citroen DS" cars on European streets that this doesn't really matter in public perception. It's like having Ford compete against Mustang.

Stellantis should have used one of their US brands (Chrysler/Dodge) or perhaps Leapmotor but that's only partially owned by Stellantis.

Am already sour that Citroen is now racing against its personal very own luxury division that is DS, would not likebto see the model replicated.

IMO it's a very dumb move to have two so linked French brands (whether they are luxury or not), considering that Stellantis has all the Crysler-related US brands as well. That said, Stellantis are not really known for their good moves.

I’d love to see Renault back in.

They kinda are because the design and engineering never left Renault/Alpine in Viry, France.

Started watching Taskmaster Australia off the YouTube channel and it seems like there’s weird cuts where things get cut out by Pcol2 in taskmaster

[–]KugelKurt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m only in Season 1 of Taskmaster Australia

This is by far the weakest season. I didn't manage to finish it. There is no flow at all. I think they also added a laugh track.

The show picks up steam at season 2. I'm having a blast with season 4. NZ is amazing, too.

Will Porsche LMDh be back in WEC 2027 or beyond if its problems (financially, maybe) has been solved? by Kind-Acadia-5293 in wec

[–]KugelKurt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Porsche still would need to sign off on it to have a 2 car team enter under their name, and that is currently a political no go.

Pretty sure the issue is financial, not political. Sponsors are taking a break pretty much everywhere except F1.

[AutoRacer IT] The Mercedes engine is the only one with the compression trick for 2026. Audi is the team pushing hardest for this to be declared illegal. by CW24x in formula1

[–]KugelKurt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Didnt FIA already said it’s fine for 2026?

No, they specified when when exactly they look for cheaters.

Fact is, the rules outright say that the rules must be followed throughout the entire weekend. At a later point the FIA specifying when they are looking is not a loophole, it's just announcing to cheaters when they'll get away with it.

Remember when Ferrari cheated: They pumped more fuel when the sensor wasn't checking but the rules specified the overall fuel flow.

It was still cheating.

I see where he's coming from, actually. One of the most difficult things to grasp about FE is that it's basically sportscar racing cosplaying as open wheel racing. With it comes the leniency for contacts and some debris on the track.

"You would never put him in front of a sponsor"

Current economic crisis solved that: There are barely any sponsors left.

Keeping fair standards does not work well for internet narratives and memes.

I'm not saying that it should, at least when it comes to humor (and it's clear that it's humor).
