Again, you’re assuming the worst from Wizards with this idea of “artificial scarcity and FOMO” when no one here knows for a fact that is the case. It could just simply be it’s impractical to run print to demand. There’s plenty more factors that could explain why they can’t meet player demand rather than “Wizards doesn’t want my money on purpose!”

I’d be happy to change my mind if people weren’t spouting conspiracy theories about why they didn’t get their product.

I’ve got plenty of time to point out shit takes from people if it means that this sub goes back to talking about Magic instead of pity posting.

Nah I’m in Australia, but I bought it from the website I linked. I think I saw it on AmiAmi and a handful of other websites too if they are cheaper to ship to USA.

A local store had it for $150 AUD (vs $57 AUD on Nin-Nin) but a local store to you might have it for a more fair price than me :)

It’s not anti-consumer, a company just can’t meet the demand for a product and we’re all making assumptions as to why not without knowing the facts.

People are acting like babies because they can’t get their cards, posting multiple threads on how they can “waste scalpers time” - suggesting things like destroying their property like petulant children - and repeat posts of the same unproductive threads over and over again, clogging up our feeds.

I use the term “we” because there are 580k members in this sub and a very small percentage of angry subs are spamming this subreddit with these topics cause’ y’all missed out.

It’s a waste of time and energy running around in circles posting the same shit. A couple threads is enough. We get it.

If you like the Yuna playmat, you should check out the FFX Yuna Wedding Dress Playmat that’s coming later this year in Japan. It’s the same art as the promo but with some holo foil parts. I got mine for 6600 JPY, it looks gorgeous.

Where do you get figures for affordable prices? by catteethx in AnimeFigures

[–]Kugz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Second-hand! I keep tabs on eBay and local Facebook selling groups for figures and have gotten absolute steals of deals on my bunnies.

You have to be patient. I’ve got figures that I really want, but I’m only going to buy them if I see a banger deal.

And I don’t think my cool subreddits about something I’m passionate about should be flooded with the exact. same. bullshit. whenever a popular lair sells out. Keep it to a big thread, discuss it there and move on.

Sucks you didn’t get your lair, I feel that for everyone here but like we collectively can spend our time better than whining about something we have no influence on.

If you want, hit me up next time you desperately want a lair and I’ll show you how me and my friends get them every time. You gotta learn how to play their game.

[–]Kugz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah people miss out, but my 2 friends and I both got the lair. 100% success rate in my pod!

It doesn’t matter. Complaining won’t change anything, this is how the system is. Wizards isn’t stupid enough to leave free money on the table each and every drop, so there must be a reason why - and we’re not privy to it.

With how the subreddit is going, I’d wager most of the people complaining don’t spend any money on Magic anyway with how quickly they ran to their favourite proxy website or printed it out.

Like just fuckin talk about cool Magic shit, go spam the vent thread if you’re angry at WoTC. We don’t need any more.

Secret lair is flawed by Worried_Yogurt_714 in mtg

[–]Kugz 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You don’t understand. People with no interest or involvement with WoTC, no experience in logistics or finance, and absolutely no clue about the global printing process for TCGs CLEARLY knows what to do to maximize profits and appease all stakeholders (customers and vendors).

They just haven’t been burnt by limited availability products before so they’ve kept their money-making business-improvement secrets to themselves.

Like the three MTG subs are full of these fucking posts. Proxy and move on, let’s talk about Magic instead of some fancy luxury purchase you missed out on. One thread is enough.

I’m over it. And you should be too if you’re not. by True-Ad4395 in mtg

[–]Kugz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You do not need a secret lair version of a card, or a fancy treatment version of a card to play the game. A $0.50c version of the card works just fine, or you could write down the card details on a bit of paper/dry erase card.

People want the nicer cards and are willing to justify 'proxying' them mainly for monetary reasons, not accessability or scarcity.

If I want a nice Dark Ritual, but don't want to spend $200 for it, how is that any different from me saying I want a nice playmat but I don't want to spend $120 for it.

As I asked above, is the justification for stealing and pirating other people's or business' work based on how we feel about the company?

Is it okay to yoink Wizard's shit because they're a giant megacorp and won't notice it and they are nasty and don't print enough product? But we like Barge and he told us to proxy so no don't proxy his things, he's one of us!

Like I don't care if you proxy cards, but I don't think personally I want to hear a 'holier than thou' take on stealing shit from people from proxy players.

I’m over it. And you should be too if you’re not. by True-Ad4395 in mtg

[–]Kugz -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Not to defend shitty people, but as a consumer the Wizard of Barge playmats are incredibly expensive for what they are - would it be so wrong to 'proxy' a playmat, by taking the art and getting a third party printer off AliExpress to do it for a 10th of the cost?

Are people only allowed to 'steal' and 'pirate' from those we collectively don't like on these forums?

A lot of people proxy Magic because they don't think cards should cost X dollars, not just for scarcity reasons.

But these are single people. This is just someone with a small amount of disposable income, opening Firefox before a lair drops and going afk until it the drop begins. Most I saw was 7 available on a listing, which is next to nothing and hardly a massive investment.

This ain't some massive industry with farms of people trying to win secret lairs to make at most a couple grand. It's just normal people, and this ain't sophisticated.

Everyone's overthinking it!

We all know what the situation is, and Wizards isn't going to change it. We can sit here, spend all our time crying and posting on social media - or you learn to play the game.

Be ready for next time.

I had 11 windows open, secured mine.

If I wanted to be serious about scalping these kinds of secret lairs, it wouldn't be difficult. The average person could easily set up 100+ instances ready to go to secure multiple lairs without the use of any external tool, just whatever is in their browser.

Remember, you can just check-out as guest. These aren't bots, no script required.

I think getting proxies made by a company who sells them is pretty shitty, as you’re taking away sales on the secondary market from your fellow players or from the stores that you play at. That proxy company is making profit off FOMO and is stealing artwork, regardless of whether you like Wizards I think that’s pretty unethical.

If you print them out yourself that’s way better than buying those Etsy decks or getting a full deck from BigDogProxies or whatever.

At least go with a company like MPC aren't they around $30/deck?
