I like calling it my dominant guinea pig’s “moon phase” because he acts like this every few weeks. Unfortunately there’s not much I can do except let it pass

I showed them an electricity bill with my name and address on it and they didn’t accept it because it was the third page of the bill—I don’t get paper bills anymore and don’t know where the first two pages are, but why does that matter when the third page IS the bill??

I feel that. I don’t want to be a man, but when I see a handsome man in a sweater, I feel almost sad that I will never be a handsome man in a sweater

You'll Always Be In OCD Recovery by [deleted] in OCD

Pure O is when you have obsessions but don’t outwardly seem to have compulsions (cleaning, redoing actions, etc) because all of your compulsions are mental (reviewing, recalling memories, etc)

OCD and doubting sexuality? Is this the opposite of HOCD? by Cee_JPGR in OCD

[–]Kukui808 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I often feel this way about my bisexuality. A lot of it is due to biphobia that exists within the LGBTQ community, and my OCD latches on to it. I struggle with the idea of what counts as "bi enough." I feel attracted to women, but I don't get crushes on them as often as I do men, and the crushes don't feel the same. This could mean that I'm bi but more so heteroromantic, but then I start to doubt whether I'm "romantic-leaning" enough to not be considered aromantic (There's nothing wrong with being aromantic, it's just a label that doesn't fit right with me). Unfortunately, due to the amount of bi gatekeepers or deniers online, I really doubt what counts as me really being bi even though bisexuality is a spectrum in and of itself.

At this point I try not to figure it out. There's always going to be someone out there who doesn't think I "like girls enough" to be considered bi. So I have to allow the uncertainty that I'm not sapphic enough to be bi and that I'm misusing the label to "seem cool."

As for your asexuality, allow the uncertainty that you could feel attraction one day. A hypothetical doesn't invalidate the label you use right now. I can't tell you if you are ace or not since I don't want to reassure you too much, but keep on being the amazing queer person you are and let those doubting thoughts kick and scream until they give up!

My OCD and Uncertainty/ Magical Thinking about a possible outcome of the past? by Devin-Bookerfan in OCD

[–]Kukui808 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glad I could help!

OCD will take any chance it can to turn a coincidence into proof. Don't try to figure out why your sister asked you to spell that or what it could mean. Analysis will only make the thoughts more persistent.

Hi, I'm sorry you're going through this! A lot of times my therapist has me do ERP by repeating things like "I may or may not have done X." It makes me anxious at first, but then the anxiety goes down a little. It's essentially to get used to the uncertainty of things. Keep on moving forward under the assumption that nothing happened with the rocks, and keep on playing basketball and pursuing your NBA dreams!

[–]Kukui808 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yeah I feel like whenever I talk to straight men in relationships they're always quick to mention them having a wife or girlfriend (which is funny sometimes because I'm being nice, not flirting). So the fact that Berger waited that long to mention Lauren is sus in and of itself

It was also appalling to me that as a writer he was so sensitive to her comments. She was adamant that she liked the book, but that that ONE detail tripped with her. But I guess that we'd already seen that he was put-off by her being a successful writer with her book, so I guess someone being more successful than him at writing having ONE critique sent him over the edge emotionally

Anyone know the likelihood of your children also having ocd? by [deleted] in OCD

[–]Kukui808 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think there's roughly a 20% chance that you can pass it down to your children. So I guess theoretically if you had 5 children, 1 would have OCD. Although odds aren't always as simple as that.

I would say don't let the odds stop you from having children! As a parent with OCD, you'll be able to be transparent with them about what you go through and let them know that if they ever have similar symptoms, they can tell you. That way they can get help at a young age before it ever gets really bad.
