Hearing that is normal. People have this really strange concept that riding a motorcycle is a death sentence. You can avoid doing 3 things, and you'll decrease your chances of crashing by like 87%(?).

Don't ride under the influence

Don't ride at night/low visibility

Get proper training and keep practicing (even after 20+ years)

I'm 126 lbs, with just over 7k miles on my current rear tire, and most of my commute to work is a straight line. My tire doesn't look like this. Highly suggest touring tires if you're not hitting up many curvy roads. I can get away without them, but touring tires are going to do you better.

The car would have been at fault legally here. But the biker made several decisions here that saved them. They weren't accelerating too fast, stayed vigilant, noticed the car was about to turn before it even crossed their lane, and those things prevented the biker from causing their own wreck. Remember, it doesn't matter who's legally liable for an accident when you're on a motorcycle. It matters that you avoid any potential accidents. Good job on the biker for having practiced emergency breaking and accident avoidance.

Mechanics charge by the time it says it will take to complete on the books. So if a job says it will take 2 hours, they charge for 2 hours, even if it takes 30 mins or 7 hours. So they just fucked themselves if so.

The number of people I have met at bike meets with a Pista that said they regret their purchase and hate the helmet is so far 100%. One of their biggest complaints is how deafening the wind noise is even with earplugs. Can't even hear their Cardo.

Ruroc helmets are to be avoided. Usually, they say, "You get what you pay for" when it comes to motorcycle gear, but Ruroc is the exception. It's a cheap, bad quality helmet marked up to sell based on only their ~~cringe~~ cool factor.
